I'm tired of everyone "loosing" weight on MFP. With all those pounds flying around unrestrained, someone is going to get hurt. :-) loose does not equal lose.

I can't eat m&m's without stopping.

Guy returns from a sales trip and tells his boss, "I just got back from Green Bay and boy, there's nothing there but football players and hookers." Boss says, "My wife is from Green Bay." Guy replies, "What position does she play?"

How many mice does it take to screw in a light bulb? Two, but I don't how the heck they got in there...

^^^this. It's excellent info on hitting a plateau.

Also, thanks for sharing with us in the food database. I just confirmed the accuracy...

Thanks for taking one for the team. If you keep it up, surely the rest of us will have to lose some weight.

Dean Koontz's Watchers is a fun read, especially if you like dogs. George RR Martin is my current fav as well. At least with his Song of Fire and Ice series, you'll be reading for a long time if you like it. Each of the 5 books is around 900 pages. You can add them to your strength training regimen. Robert Heinlein: Glory…

You slipped. It's done. Big deal. Cut yourself a break. You are OKAY. What matters now is that you get back up and try again. You are still young and can recover more quickly than us old timers. Count your calories, pay attention to the quality of the food you eat, but most importantly exercise, exercise, exercise. You can…

I really like the Taurus special edition CLI, sometimes called the CLI Taurus. They can be hard to find.

I agree with Monda. Brown rice cooks well in the steamer but it takes longer. I usually ad 1.5 cups of water for every 1 cup of brown rice. The steamer just automatically takes longer to steam off the extra water. I like to spice mine up with McCormick Grill Mates Fiery 5 Pepper or Mrs Dash's Extra Spicy seasonings. There…

@khollyk started a really good post on hitting plateaus the other day: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/501511-great-read-on-plateau-ing The original article that she references is here: http://fitnesswithnatalie.blogspot.com/2011/05/most-dreaded-word-in-weight-loss.html They always say you can't win if you don't…

"With or without religion, you would have good people doing good things and evil people doing evil things. But for good people to do evil things, that takes religion." -- Steven Weinberg I believe in a higher power, but I think mankind's implementations of organized religion can be flawed and lead to tragic cultural…

Lot of experts here on *kitten* tasting. jk :-) I had to give it up because I couldn't drink it in moderation. I used to drink 6 or 8 20oz. bottles of Diet Dr Pepper per day. It was probably either the aspartame or caffeine, but now that I'm on mostly lemon water I have far fewer headaches. Like most everything else, it's…

I agree that you should stick it out, but only for a sense of personal triumph over adversity. The best revenge on a bad employer is always to get a better job. For fun, you can always leave a resignation haiku on your last day. Here's my personal fav: Stupid can’t be fixed. Leaders lack vision and wit. F*** this place. I…

I hated seeing any food wasted (still do). Just had to be in the clean plate club. Guess that came from all that harping about the starving kids in China. I still have a hard time throwing away old leftovers.

Just so! But then I moved to Texas in my early 20's and discovered Mexican food. All bets were off after that.

Tough question. The only thing that ever worked for me was cold turkey. Here's what I did: Find a long weekend when you don't have to be around anybody. This is the detox period. It only takes about 72 hours to break the physical addiction to nicotine. I chose to do it away from everybody because I'd get so irritable and…

Behavioral changes are by far the hardest. I don't know how many times I bought my last can of Copenhagen chewing tobacco before finally quitting (14 years ago now). Now it's the same with dieting and exercise. I slip all the time but I try not to count the failures, just how many times I get back up again. Don't be so…

We should count all calories consumed, even the good ones. Don't weigh in every day. Water retention changes too much and causes frustration. Try weighing yourself once per week, preferably at the same time of day.

This is a really nice write-up, @DocGu. Thank you!

Zone Perfect Double Dark Chocolate or Dark Chocolate Almond bars are my favorite snack. They are 190 calories with a good protein-to-carb balance and are very filling (at least to me). Quick and easy.

Thanks for the link. This will come in handy. I have hit the plateaus before.
