Exactly! Just like consumers neet to remember "buyer beware", internet researchers should keep in mind "consider the source".

Interesting, but the only articles I've seen on the so-called Twinkie diet have very carefully stated that the professor who was on the diet actually stated that it was not recommended as healthy only as a demonstration that weight loss was strictly a result of calorie restriction, regardless of the type of calories. I've…

I agree. Additionally, there is increasing evidence that supplements can/are not absorbed and used by the body effectively and that you really need those supplements in conjunction with nutrients. As in, whole foods, not fortified foods or vitamens.

This is SO my life right now. I've talked to other women who think that menopause is no where near as bad as "peri". I don't sleep, I crave sugar and carbs to the point of insanity, my TOM is irregular and for the first time in my life actually interfers with my daily activities. I can be sweating and still be freezing…

I agree.

They are a gimmick. When you first wear them you will probably notice a bit of a soreness because you are forced to walk differently but your body will quickly adapt and there's no measurable difference in muscle usage. There are actual studies published that show that they don't really tone your legs any more than walking…

Don't be discouraged. You're right a couple of weeks won't change a lifetime of habits and you are in this for the long haul. 1. 1200 calories is a random number that is usually assigned as the very MINIMUM that a woman should eat in order to maintian basic bodily functions and nutrition. So, unless you're very petite, you…

I would be more worried about the fact that you're scared and worried. This is a lifestyle change. After Christmas there will be new years, then Valentines Day then Easter then Cinco de Mayo, Memorial Day and 4th of July and so on......... Most holiday traditions involve family and friends getting together to celebrate and…

Gold's Gym is a franchise so you're likely to get a different experience based on the management style of whoever owns it. I belong to Gold's and i LOVE my gym. I take a lot of the classes and the instructors are great. I've used personal training and it was a very positive experience. I use the pool. There's tons of…

I've checked other sources as well. All with the same story.

Although I agree that eating 1200 calories a day is not a magic number, unless you're a petite inactive woman, I sincerely doubt that eating less than that daily on a REGULAR basis could be considered healthy. I disagree that you should listen to your body regarding hunger singles. Anorexics claim that they are not hungry.…

LOL, I don't know if you've noticed but they still are. They've just taken the lastest form in miracle shoes, bar bells that shake, and a velcro around the waist vibrating belts. Not to mention the Thigh Master!

Ok, First of all more than 80% of the nutrients in eggs, including the protien is in the yolk. If you are going to eat eggs, I would advise eating the whole egg. The egg whites have almost no nutritional value. Second, studies have shown that whole eggs actually contribute to increasing your good cholestoral and do not…

Generally I find that fast food smells better than it tastes. I'll smell it and really want some but if I actually give in and get it, it doesn't taste good and I'm disappointed. I have the same reaction to Cinnabons (sp?) and cookies in the mall. They smell so good but the taste is always disappointing.

I love their pants. And you're right. They are well worth the money. I have two pair that I've worn once or twice a week for over a year and they still look new. They don't pill, fade, shrink, stretch and the wick moisture. I really want the new style they have and have been putting it off but I think I'll head on over to…

I agree. The article stated that the response was less marked for those categorized as "obese" but it would be interesting to be able to compare the data between "average", "overweight" and "obese" not only in starvation or undernourishing but in their response to refeeding.

Starvation mode is really more like a "conservation mode". Your body needs a minimum number of calories to function properly. When you don't provide your body with those minimum calories it needs to survive it will begin to conserve energy by slowing down your metabolism. If it goes on long enough it will also begin to…

Especially liked #5. I think that all the time when I read some of these posts. I just have to laugh :)

So will my cell phone, the microwave, and the TV. I've come to the general conclusion that there's not much that won't kill me. And the few things that are healthy aren't much fun. So let's all raise a glass of tap water and toast to living life on the edge. LOL .

Do you feel good/healthy at your current weight? Do you feel good about the way that you look and they way your clothes fit? If the answer is yes then I would recommend that stay where you are. If the answer is no then you should continue your weight loss journey. There are always other stores. I wouldn't make this about…

I read through the article. He doesn't recommend or promote the diet. But it is interesting in that the experiment indicates a number of possibilities: 1. Weight loss is primarily a function of calories and not the quality of those calories, (Health is dependent upon the quality but not actual weight loss) 2. There are…

I'm often amazed that I've lived as long as I have and remained healthy since eating is soooooooo bloody complicated: Don't eat meat Eat nothing but meat Only eat turkey: everything else will kill you Eggs are a miracle food Eggs will kill you Sugar will kill you Artificial Sugar will kill you HFCS will kill you Salt will…

http://junkfoodscience.blogspot.com/2007/01/junkfood-science-weekend-special.html You'll have no problem finding people to tell you that the procedure is great and successful. This is a series of articles that present the negative side and, in my opinion, if even a portion of it is true, it is alarming enough that I would…

I think part of it is education. When I was growing up there was not a lot of nutritional information available and what was known, was mostly inaccurate. Part of it is cultural. I grew up in a relatively low income southern family. That means biscuits and gravy for breakfast, lots of pasta, fried foods, etc. Some of it…

Yoga doesn't have a high calorie burn so you can't count on it as cardio exercise. However, it does have a strength training aspect which will help build/maintain muscle. One primary benefit is that It shapes your muscles and provides toning. A long stretched leg will appear much leaner than one with shorter muscles.…

There is no reason to cut beef, including ground beef, from a healthy diet. Like most things, everything in moderation is the key. Nutrition Facts and Information about Beef: Beef is found to be very rich in Zinc, Selenium, Phosphorus, Potassium and Magnesium. Sodium and Copper are found in good quantities. However, minute…

I have to agree. Most of them are just glorified candy bars or milk shakes. But, I do use them occasionally as a meal substitute when I'm in a hurry or don't have time to pack something. I also use them occasionally to satisfy a candy craving. They do have a lot of sugar but, unlike a candy bar or milk shake, at least I…

have to agree. You can fade them but they are never going to go completely away. I've also found that the self tanning lotions help to minimize their appearance.

You can count the activity as exercise if you choose. It's actually in the database....so's grocery shopping. Here's how I think of it. I've always done housework and shopped for groceries and I've always been overweight.....why would I count it now? The only time I would count it is if you are doing something that you…

three thoughts 1 THROW AWAY THE SCALE. It is causing you a lot of unnecessary pain and exhausting you emotionally. It's not worth it. Keep doing all the right things and measure your success by how you feel and how your clothing fits. 2. Fake it. I know that sound ridiculous but there are numerous studies that have shown…
