I have a Garmin FR220. Love it!

Old Navy has an XXL that fits like a 1x, or they offer plus sizes on their website as well. Also, keep your eye out at TJ Maxx or Marshalls.

Use the search. This topic gets crazy.

I haven't used an alarm clock (i.e. My phone) since I got my JawboneUp 24. It also tell me to get my butt up and move during the day.
-
When I run or workout I use my Garmin Forerunner 220. You just turn the GPS off in the gym. I wear a JawboneUp 24 daily, but that is mostly for motivation. I also like that I can set alarms on it!

This convo is a couple days old, but answered a lot of my questions. I was going to suggest MFP have an option to track net carbs, but it sounds like it is not necessary after all.

Every day, but Sunday. I ignore the people who say it's bad for you because I don't stress over little fluctuations. :)

I think almost all of the main ones (FitBit, jawbone, etc) have android apps. Check their websites.

I love, love, love my AF!!!! The owners are super involved, tons of personal trainers, group fitness classes (like Zumba, cardio kickboxing, etc), groups that trains for Tough Mudders ... You get the idea! ;) My friend goes to one in another town and rarely sees an employee, no classes, nothing. So, I guess just utilize…

Did you have your gait evaluated? I went to a running store and they watched me run on a treadmill, walk, etc. and suggested some shoes based on that. I haven't had shin splints since. Brooks are fantastic shoes, but maybe you need something else. I wear ASICS, but even they have like 10 different kinds and I can only wear…

Your profile says you are 100 years old! I say if you are that old, who cares if you need to lose a few pounds! :)

Persistence is key!! That is good advice for beginners of any age!

Here are a few I thought of: 1. Don't go too fast in the beginning. Focus on getting a good running form. 2. Don't be afraid to repeat a week if you feel like you're struggling. 3. Just have fun!!

If you search the message board for FitStar tons of people have posted about it. Good luck!

I have a Garmin Forerunner 220 with the chest strap. GPS on when I walk, run, or hike and then I turn the GPS off at the gym. I had a Polar that I liked, but sold it on eBay when I decided to get a Garmin. Best advise I got was: only pay for what you'll use. Don't pay for a lot of bells and whistles if you only want to…

I've seen these, but are they really beneficial?

^This!

Exactly! I run. I run slow, I take short strides, and sometimes I cannot run more than 2 minutes without walking. But, I run. Therefore, I am a runner!! =)

If you want something to give you motivation, get a JawboneUp 24 or a FitBit. I wouldn't use them to show a true calorie burn.
-
Does your Garmin not have a chest strap? I have a Garmin Forerunner 220 with a chest strap. When at the gym, I just turn off the GPS and workout.
-
I use a HRM when I work out, but I have had both the FitBit Force (recalled) and now a JawBoneUP. They both do about the same thing. Personally I like the Up. It fits better on my wrist. And, the app is better.

I would rather just stay fat. Bleck! :frown:

If anyone has Amazon Prime, some of her workouts stream for free. I like her walk and jog DVD. It is my favorite.

I have the JawboneUp and love it! Keeps me motivated, tells me how I sleep, etc. BUT I do not sync it to MFP, nor do I care how many calories it says I burn. It is simply for motivation. I have a Garmin Forerunner 220 with a cheststrap for when I work out. If I am at the gym (not walking or running), I just turn the GPS…

I don't care what you name him, just give him to me RIGHT NOW!!!! So cute it hurts!!
-
Cry. ;) Just kidding! I usually do pretty good about spreading out my calories so when I run out its time to brush my teeth and drink water! Some people recommend mint gum.

I started sending friend requests, but there are a lot of people answering! So, everyone feel free to add me. I started at 231 and am now 217. It's been a year and a half, with a LOT of ups and downs. Looking for the rest of way to be just downs!! =)

I had a Polar, really liked it. But, when I started running I sold it on eBay and bought a Garmin FR220. It's awesome. I think it depends in your needs/wants since the brands themselves are comparable.

Search for this topic, there are tons of threads with very detailed answers, but in a nutshell the Flex is a fancy pedometer. It will not give you and accurate calories burn for the gym, fitness classes, etc. It is meant to count steps and get you moving.

W1D1. Um, yeah, after reading most of these posts I'm kinda embarrassed to say those last few one minute runs were a challenge. Ah well, I did it and I will be running a 5K in no time!!! ????????
