kind of a non-specific answer but I can tell you I have been where you are. I actually did what your nutritionist recommended and raised my intake by a couple hundred calories (still at a deficit, just less of one) and as soon as I did that I started dropping weight again. It is a scary move to make but as the previous…

I can testify to this as well. As a cop I still run through the occasional drive-trough and eat as I please. It has not really hurt me much at all as long as I make the rest of my day work around that particular meal. It's really not that big of a deal if you do it right.

Hate to sound like a broken record but if you want to get into weight training then Stronglifts 5x5 sounds like a good fit for you. It would allow/encourage you to start out nice and light then move forward with the program and allow you to find your own limits then surpass them assuming you're not overly hampered by your…

Got my first workout in with my new FiveFingers today. They were comfortable and I did a short job just to check it out. I noticed my foot falls seem heavier now on the treadmill (just in terms of noise, not shock to my feet) but that could be the lack of shock absorbing padding under my feet. Otherwise I loved them. I…

Good tip, thanks. I was thinking I would start with an easy mile then finish the time out with a brisk walk. Eventually, I really need to get back into training for sprinting since in real life that's where running is important for my job.

I am just venturing into this as well although I am not sure I ever intend to go fully barefoot since I can not afford to be injured by stepping on stuff or burning my feet in the sumer. I got a good price on a pair of Vibram Five Fingers which I just received today. I can't wait to take them for a jog tomorrow.

right now my wife and I are both on the same routine: monday:legs Tuesday: chest/triceps, added in deads and bicep work Wed:cardio and core thurs: Shoulders/2nd squat day Friday: back/biceps, added in bench press We try to hit the big compounds four out of five days and try to do each one of the big three twice per week as…

REST, DIET, and avoid hitting the same muscle groups on consecutive days

I use and LOVE "JEFIT pro", my wife and I both use it and have enjoyed thumbin through other people's workouts and are now on the same routine which I designed and we modified after working through it a few weeks. It tracks progress and measurements etc.

So you've lost 5 pounds in about 5 weeks? That's not that bad at all. It really depends what kind of deficit you're eating. I would imagine you're not eating a huge deficit since you'e working really hard. if you want to try to pick up that speed you can play with your diet a little and see what happens. Everyone has those…

If you aren't going to go in for a serious fitting, understandably I would do one of two things. 1. Watch youtube videos and read internet resources to see if there was anything I could do to learn to analyze my own stride and choose an appropriate shoe based on those observations (the people in those stores weren't born…

I do like this one as an energy booster. I can say though that if you're going to ue these things, this one iis pretty strong. If you cuut caffeine out of your life for the most part prior to using this you will get a much stronger effect. Also, ussing it many days in a row can alsso decrease the felt effect. Warning…

I don't log sex or other daily activities but I LOVE that some of you people seem to be Archer fans!

As a swimmer you should have pretty thick shoulders I would imagine. Your shoulders will probably love to get back into training but you need to start lifting bigger weights. Especially for tough mudder, you're going to need some serious fitness for that thing. Lifting heavy will tax your body and challenge your muscles…

My understanding was that since they are individual franchises that the fob only gave you access to the one you joined. Is that not the case? If you do have access to all locations then I would go to the one that works best and if the franchisee says anything to you about it then simply explain why that other location is…

When I first started seriously working out it was because I had a fitness-related career goal with a definitive deadline in sight so every skipped workout was more of a chance that I was not going to succeed. Now, it's become a hobby for me and I find myself really enjoying my workouts. If I do find my workout getting…

I personally love it, I love it because I can appreciate the kind of work it takes to get that look. I also love the soft and smooth look of a sleek but not ultra slim torso as well. I guess what I'm trying to say without being too crass about it is, most guy will just be thrilled that you're not wearing a shirt if ou get…

I love me some dips and pull-ups, I have stopped doing shrugs more or less since I started deadlifting 2x/week. I feel it in my traps plenty so I don't see a need to hit them again with an isolation. If shrugs make you feel awesome though then do it up!! You would probably love deadlifts though.

How much caffeine do you take in on the average day? Try depriving yourself for half a day or so then take a resting heart rate. If it is still high then you should probably consult a doctor about it if it truly concerns you.

^^I would tend to agree. I am a fan of lifting heavy for actual progress. It is not just the movement of the exercise that challenges ou muscles it is the actual resistance. Having said that it looks like you are probably not challenging your muscles at all. Also, set weight for the workout means you're doing it the same…

Creatine is one of the most often studied supplements and to my knowledge has been proven safe over and over again. 1 word of caution, when you first start creatine you are likely to pick up some water weight. Keep drinking as much water as you do and it should not be a problem for you as your body will continue to process…

LOL, Yes the post-workout meal is GLORIOUS.

Pretty much, If your metabolism is cranked up high enough or if you get up early enough to eat and have a meal digested prior to your workout then get it on. I try to be out the door as soon as I am able to get breakfast into my daughter. In my experience vigorous exercise right after a meal is generally conducive to me…

This was in a topic yesterday, in my experience the only two things you should avoid doing are over eating and skipping workouts. I personally like working out on an empty stomach first thing in the morning and have never had any negative effects while lifting heavy and doing at least 30 minutes of cardio at the end of the…
-
I like to workout on an empty stomach right after I jump out of bed, then I eat lunch when I get home. I don't think it makes any real difference. Your body reacts to the sustained cumulative caloric deficit or excess in the long run.

My 19 month old daughter has flu symptoms today so i will be getting and getting it in before my wife leaves for work. I plan to be in the squat rack at 0600.

Hmm, +1 for the daycare at the gym thing, I pay for it on top of my dues and it has weird hours, frustrating. I really hate that I pay full price for my membership and for that of my wife but they give memberships out in the community to known criminals and others who have been proven to steal and cause problems in the…

Stick with full body compounds, isolations are for body builders etc and in the grand scheme aren't worth that much to most people. Why not just increase the training volume of your new routine? Add sets to the new routine or increase weight so that you're working harder. If I'm feeling particularly froggy during a workout…

There are plenty of forearm isolation exercises such as forearm curls behind the back or over a bench, palms up or down, revers grip barbell curls are also a killer on the forearms.
-
Rowing or hand bike come to mind, the rowing machine is pretty self explanatory but could still be hard on your hips. The hand bike is like an inverted bike you pedal with your hands, they are used frequently for amputees and other folks who have mobility issues to still be able to exercise. Otherwise swimming would…
