Just saw this article on TNation, How Women Lift and Train Differently Than Men by Mark Rippetoe. It's an older article dated 10/01/14 but first I've seen. https://t-nation.com/training/strength-training-for-women Would be interested to hear thoughts and comments.

Happy one year anniversary @psych101!!! There nothing that hasn't been said, you look awesome and should be so proud of your accomplishment! After reading your macros..I'm set to .3g fat but thinking of up'n that to .4g...

@Sumiblue you look awesome! And I give you so much credit for posting your pic! If you don't me asking, what are your cal intake and macros?

Thanks for posting this @neandermagnon! Tomorrow will be my first morning lifting session and was a little concerned, I'm also NOT a morning person, and like to lift on a full stomach so I'll make sure and have a late night snack...

In menopause too, started at the beginning of the year. Gained 6 lbs in two months, and have only been able to lose 3 lbs, now a total of 17 lbs overweight all in belly/thigh area. I've tried the 20% deficit but didn't work. After reading all your replies, I'm going to try to up fat intake to see if that will help. I’ve…

As a side note, I also have arthritis, and knee issues (as a result of Insanity). After a month of StrongLifts, my arthritis and knee issues improved - drastically! Start out easy with low weights while perfecting your form, and eventually you'll luv/hate squats with the rest of us, lol!

This might not be relevant… My hairdresser told me that hair texture like skin, etc. changes every 8 yrs. I was one of those people who gray early in life, 8th grade. I've been 100% gray for many years and color my hair. Right now, I'm going through menopause and noticed that it's changing my hair color, which is funny…

After looking over some of the programs, found what I was looking for, Strong Curves has several programs for full body and lower body.
-
I've been running the SL program since March. For a few months I was focusing on upper body (added some arnolds, curls, etc) and would like to now focus on lower body. Anyone who is familiar with this program, is there a way to incorporate some of the SC exercises? My issues are my thighs, even on a deficit and adding…

Thanks ladies!

Is Strong Curves primarily a glute focus program? I'm looking for a program that focuses on lower body.

I've been running the SL program since March, would like to now focus on lower body, can anyone guide me to a program that works lower body? Or any other ideas/suggestions?

As a core principal, yes, totally agree 100%, but for women there are hormones that enter the big picture and unfortunately makes the process more complex. Low estrogen alone can make a women gain weight.

I'm in a similar situation and interested in any suggestions/comments...

My husband wanted to purchase a "smith" type machine, after some research I ended up with a power rack and oly bar. They take up the same amount of room, and the benefits of weights outweigh a smith machine hands down.

Just a side note... I have worked in an office all my life and always wore heels. Lately I've noticed my posture has changed, and realized that I haven't been wearing heels as often. I know this sounds crazy but when I wear heels my posture automaticly changes. It doesn't have to be a high heel, and now even the "comfort"…

lol, I'll have to remember that! For anyone who is interested in using chalk but is hesitant like me, wanted to mention that I lift at home, when I first bought it I was worried so I placed it in a zip lock bag, but it has worked out extremely well!
-
Wanted to update. The chalk ball is great! The ball limits the amount of chalk that is released so you don’t have a mess. A great find! Another thing that helps, as soon as I’m done my session I wash my hands and message moisturizer on the area. So between the chalk ball and moisturizer it’s all good!

Thank you for starting this thread @marekdds. Empathize with each and every one of you. In February, between starting a new lifting program and hormones I gained 6 lbs in one month, and to make matters worse I'v been losing and gaining the same 3 of those 6 lbs since. Hoping for that big whoosh and at least get back to my…

I have a similar situation with my neck and shoulders, I've deloaded to 70 in squats and have added reps. In June my shoulders and neck ware so bad that I needed to take the entire month to recover - SO I won't make that mistake again! Until my chiro apts go down to maintenance, I'll remain at the lower weight in squats.
