I agree with you on this. When I first started exercising the machine's reading and my HRM were almost identical. The fitter I became the less calories I burned and the machine didn't reflect that, my HRM did.

Like the others said, I disagree that the elliptical is bad. When I was nursing my knee injury it was the only "approved" cardio. My Physical Therapist swears by it and the bike. I couldn't use the stationary bike because I couldn't make a complete rotation. Do what you enjoy doing. Play with the resistance and go hard. It…

I just busted through my stall..it was 6 months long! I completely changed my workouts. In the beginning, I could only manage the eliptical for 5 minutes but eventually I was up to an hour. Same with running, I couldn't run 5 minutes then I was doing 5k's..And then I stalled. I was not going to add more time to my workouts…

It's okay to walk some of it. When I finished C25K last year, I was not running a 5k. I walked probably 25% of my first 5K. And that is okay! I did better on the next one and so on! You may be shocked about how many walkers there are. Good luck!

Why? That seems reasonable to me. My BMR is around 1500 and my TDEE is closer to 1900-2100 (I forget it's been awhile since I calculated it.)
