  • Hey fellow Beginners! Just checking in to say I'm taking a pass this week, I've already notified Cindy. This flu is kicking my butt! Obviously I am way under my calories but there is no cardio or strength going on this week at all. Plus the kids have it too so we're all just hunkered down this week, trying to feel better.…
  • I have been wondering too, why a bite is so bad when we're already infected. I see your point about the blood loss but if the bite isn't that bad it can be treated without immediate amputation. People get bit every day by dogs and cats who have pointy canine teeth that are made for ripping flesh, so a human bite couldn't…
  • Hey everyone! I finally found the new challenge, didn't think to use the search button, lol. Better late than never! I did the challenge last time, same team (Beginner, Michonne). It kicked my butt but I really noticed a difference in how my clothes fit! I slacked big time during the holidays so I'm looking forward to…

  • Thank you so much! I've been waiting all week thinking there would be a message here. Didn't think to do a search for a new group.
  • Onyx. And I love it! None of the other colors excite me. If they came out with a cobalt, I would be all over it. But for now I'm happy with my goes-with-anything, basic black.
  • You didn't mention sweet potato casserole (which is yummy but loaded with calories), but in case you wanted a substitute: lately I have been cutting sweet potatoes lengthwise, brush with a little olive oil, place face-down on a cookie sheet and bake for about 25-30 minutes, then take them out and sprinkle the top with…
  • Thank you, Cindy, for organizing and running this challenge. It was exactly what I needed to get back on track, and I learned a lot. I really, really appreciate all your hard work and look forward to doing it again in February. Have a great holiday season! Oh, and thanks to whomever first suggested Bring Sally Up. Just so…
  • Week 8 Beginner Michonne Cardio: 140/140 Strength 0/75 Calories YES Punishment NO Challenge NO Sorry, Team. It was a great week calorie wise, but my body told me it needed a break from exercise other than my walks. Bad timing, but I needed it this week.
  • I thought there were 2 more weeks. I know last night was the mid-season finale, but the description of this group says it's 9 weeks. Maybe I counted wrong. Can't wait to see how we did! Go Beginners!!!
  • tj: MsTiffamee posted this a page earlier. I don't know about any of the others.
  • Week 7 Beginner Michonne Cardio:155/125 Strength: 95/70 and donating 10 of that to julebg79, so net 85/70 Calories: Yes!!! Character challenge: Yes Thanksgiving challenge: Yes. Oh, yes. Punishment: Yes
  • I ended up with a little more cardio than I expected after adding up all my numbers. Since maphammonds gave you enough to hit your cardio goal, I'll give you 10 minutes of strength (I don't feel like doing maths this morning, lol). You're covered, jule!
  • Jule: I might be able to help a little, at least get you to goal on Strength. I will post again later this morning after my workout and let you know. Cardio, not so much, lol. I didn't get anywhere close to finishing Planksgiving, though I would love to try again. No squat challenge for me. I love squats but doing them…
  • I did the other one instead, and it was one of the toughest workouts I've done in awhile. Sounds like we all earned our extra slice of pie today. :-)
  • cardbucfan: Set it to record the next show, too! Talking Dead is fun to watch. Kristy; Actually, my husband gets the credit for that theory (mistertripps here on MFP). But it makes sense. I don't think they would leave that scene hanging. Of course, since Michonne was talking to the priest right before she saw Daryl, that…
  • Does anyone else think the whole "Daryl walking out of the woods" scene from a couple weeks ago still hasn't happened yet? He and Noah came back to the church in a van, not walking through the woods. It may have happened after whatever is about to go down at Grady, and it could explain why Daryl looked so distraught. I…
  • Thank you for the advice. I agree it would be ideal to have two days in between fast days. I guess I picked the wrong week to start 5:2. :-) I am eating all day for now, but may change later to the once a day meal. Sounds like it's working well for you! I am anxious to see my progress over the next couple months, as well.
  • Hi everyone! I'm brand new here, hope you don't mind if I jump in to say hello. I am also brand new to 5:2 and I hope I'm doing it right (or at least, not too wrong). Today is my first fast day of the week. It's going well. I have decided to eat a little all day rather than wait until the end. I have a pot of soup (mostly…
  • Week 6 Beginner - Team Michonne Cardio 134/120 Strength 65/65 Calories YES Punishment YES Challenge YES
  • Yes, Andrea, Dale, Hershel, Otis, T-Dog, Sofia, even Shane. And more. It's amazing how attached we get to fictional characters. I really liked Dale, and although she infuriated me, I miss Andrea. But there are good people now too, like Sasha, Tyrese, and... uh, well, Sasha and Tyrese. ;-)
  • I wondered the same thing when we first started and I asked about it in one of the threads, and whoever answered said whatever it means to YOU to be at your calorie goal for the week. So I started the weekly thing and it's really worked out well for me. It's actually helped me stay in my calorie range a lot better than…
  • If you are not weighing your food, you really have no idea how many calories you are eating. Try that experiment where you scoop out a tablespoon of peanut butter, then use a food scale to actually weigh a serving. You shouldn't be surprised that most of the time, the tablespoon method can result in twice as much or more…
  • If you are eating whatever you want and not being careful, even just two nights a week, that can cancel out any calorie deficit you might have. Especially eating out. You need to carefully track ALL the calories you eat. It's your eating, not your exercising, that will help you lose weight.
  • Congrats Tracy! That is an awesome achievement!! 1. Be like Carol: When I first started running (C25K program) a few years ago, I was well over 200 pounds. I really enjoyed it but my knees started hurting almost immediately. I finally dragged myself to the doctor. He ordered xrays and determined it was severe degenerative…
  • Fun story: My son (10) loves the mint chocolate energy/protein type bars, and when I saw some boxes of the snack-size Builder Bars (mint chocolate flavor) on clearance for half price at my local Kroger, I bought all of them. Like, eight boxes. Soon after my purchase, my son decided he doesn't really like them all that much…
  • I said almost the same thing outloud to my family while we were watching it Sunday night. I think it was while Noah was stalking them. I said, at least the zombies aren't smart enough to hide or be discreet or creep up silently, and that's why the living can be more dangerous than the dead.
  • Wow, you've got a lot to think about every time you put food in your mouth. One piece of advice (and you'll probably get lots of good ideas from the folks here) is maybe sit down and come up with a list of meals that fit all your parameters (gluten-free, legume-free, low in iron, etc.). Make one list of lunches, and one…
  • Best acting and best everything so far. Carol and Daryl (or rather, the actors that portray them) are so very talented. I couldn't take my eyes off the screen for a second. The writers are doing a great job with this hospital/Beth thing so far. Can't wait for next week to see what happens when the Rickettes all get there!…
  • I only drink my coffee black. I drink a lot of tea and only rarely add a splash of (carefully measured) milk. I am not usually a fan of drinking just milk by itself. But recently I've started buying raw milk from a local farm and holy cow, it is incredible! 160 calories per cup so I need to stay away from it as much as…
