FINALLY! At least now we know for sure.

Double agree! Ran the Run For Your Lives 5K in May and it was a ridiculous amount of fun!

I eat 200-300g of carbs per day. I don't have any medical conditions and I exercise quite a bit. Works well for me.

What a great feeling! Keep up the hard work

How could I forget burpees and mountain climbers?! Haha, those will help you get a real workout in  Also if you are looking for a quick and cheap weight fix for a DVD program, a gallon of water weighs 8+ pounds, you can do all sorts of lifts with a full one or even half or quart containers.

There are a ton of exercises that you can do with just your own body weight that will leave you sore and out of breath. Squats, pushups, crunches, planks, lunges, jumping jacks and several variations on each of those. If you buy a simple, cheap resistance band you can do even more. Take each one of those and do each one…

THIS. Take a few classes - start with your weights really low. Make sure your form is good and gradually increase your weight until you can barely finish each track. When you find yourself breathing heavy and your muscles burning by the end of a song you'll know you are doing it right.

I've been doing it for around 10 months and I love it. It's been an essential part of my program, along with all sorts of other stuff. It's lifting for cardio, which means lots of reps with lower weights. I do it twice a week and it generally leaves me a little sore each time. It's loud, fun music and a high energy workout…

510 pounds. Probably higher since at the time not only was I avoiding scales as much as possible, but the only scales that could actually weigh me were at the hospital or a scrapyard. I know... WTF! About another 100-150 pounds to go ( I have no idea when I'll stop since it's been so long since I was slim I'm not…

Looking out at the long road you have set for yourself can seem overwhelming. Trust me, I know. For a long time I felt like I had dug myself such a huge hole that starting the first day was just useless... What difference could it make? Now my only regret is not starting earlier. You can and will get back to where you want…

Fair enough... the overall content of the post isn't too bad. All those seem like reasonable suggestions for general weight loss. But that's all. General weight loss. The headline and the constant "flat belly" mentions are just bogus though. They are there to generate clicks, ad revenue, and to get people to focus on…

Came here to say this!

It might be a gender difference or simply because we are at different points in our paths, but I LOVE those types of questions. I don't care if they want it because they are nosey or they want to gossip, it gives me a chance to talk about it and not feel like I am outright bragging. Well, except for the too skinny part, I…

I never, ever get annoyed when I hear stuff like that. Not to mention I personally DID look awful before

I do the same thing anytime I have to go out to eat and either don't know the nutrition information or I'm worried about eating too much: Just order off-menu. They'll give it to you if you ask: Plain grilled chicken breast. Side of plain steamed veggies Side salad, low fat dressing on the side.

Haha guess I've been at work too long to have any reading comprehension skills left

Genuinely curious about this... I work out 6 days a week and I get around 180-220g of protein a day. I currently weigh around 340lbs. Are you really saying I should be eating 340-680g of protein per day? **Edited to clarify** I read your post as 1 to 2 g... but now I think you meant "one half of a gram" for each pound you…

After the 2012 apocalypse there will be no toilet paper, so you can just gradually phase it out all all together. You're only preparing them for the future, and THAT is the mark of a good parent.

I love having a PF membership. The cost is great and I use it to get a workout in when it is too nasty to be outside (heat, rain, snow) or when my regular fitness classes are cancelled. Also the one close to me is open 24 hours so I can go whenever I need to.

My suggestion is to take your time to figure out a program that works for you, not to find a program and try to fit yourself into it. Success is based on long term commitment... if you can see yourself eating the South Beach diet for a year + then by all means rock it out. But if you are concerned that you can't stick with…

Yeah, that really DOES about sum it up  Well said.

Well, there are niche dating sites that cater to larger people... so you can find guys that like big girls - as long as you don't mind dating a bigger guy.
-
Well give it a try for the sake of discussion  I'd be really interested in what you have to say about my comment (beyond the lol  ). I was trying to see it from the other side and I definitely think the things I wrote are reasonable concerns about someone who was or has been obese. Of course someone who has…

As someone who was looking at bariatric surgery (and decided against it) I can definitely relate to how you felt. Something inside me kept telling me that I was strong enough to do it on my own and I owed it to myself to find out it that was true. Plus after hearing the docs and nutritionists stress over and over that in…

Bump! Just for you Jilliana, hope you get some responses

I would tend to agree with this. Good water intake is essential. To try and find a workaround is only taking an indirect (longer) path to success. My advice is to fake it until you make it. You might just learn to love plain old water if it leads you to your goals

Another devil's advocate angle... if you were romantically involved with a person and found out they spent 20+ years of their life morbidly obese (even though they were now thinner and healthier) would you possibly wonder: "Does this person have a shortened life span?" "If we were to marry will this person die early and…

Good point, this is also true... the time and work it takes to change your life and lose a significant amount of weight can show that a person can accomplish goals that are impossible for the majority of people. That is certainly be a positive attribute when choosing a partner.
