Agreed. This is why I don't generally log exercise on MFP. Hiking for one person can be a slow easy walk in the woods and a heart-pounding scramble up a rock face to another.
-
Why thank you :)
-
Haha! I was serious though... I have no idea what's in that stuff but have you seen what it does to some people?
-
Yes, I love this. Find the threshold and push yourself past it. This attitude will carry you far

That is SO gross. Anyone who is truly interested in a healthy lifestyle chooses HuFu http://www.damninteresting.com/the-great-taste-of-human-flesh-without-the-guilt/

Two words... BATH SALTS. Not sure if anyone watches the show "Intervention" on A&E but they had one a few months ago with a kid who was addicted to bath salts and it was quite an eye opener. I have never seen anyone so insane in my entire life. I hold a very liberal stance on substance use and that stuff is terrifying.

I ♥ you :drinker:

Thanks for this reply. Math is a real thing. Calorie deficit = weight loss. Acquire your deficit in an unhealthy manner and you might have health problems.
-
Don't let them get to you :)

Always happy to help  It took me a bit of time to figure out all the acronyms, formulas, and math, so I'm always happy to explain a bit. Feel free to reply here or message me directly if you have any questions. Good luck!:drinker:

Thanks for the concern, I do appreciate it. I don't worry about it in the least however. I've been eating it in moderation for a long time now and I've been successful and I feel amazing.

Here is another link that runs the same formula (as well as a few other calculators) but also has some more explanation of the concepts: http://thefitgirls.com/tdee-calculator.aspx

I can definitely see a difference in the "shorts" picture. Nice job!

Total Daily Energy Expenditure (TDEE) is an estimate of the total number of calories you burn in a day. Generally speaking TDEE is comprised of the calories your body burns just to stay warm and alive plus any calories you burn from moving around and exercising.
-
So for example, using this link http://www.fitnessfrog.com/calculators/tdee-calculator.html And putting in the information you provided, female, 143 lbs, 5'6", 22 years young, and a sedentary lifestyle, your TDEE might be roughly 1773 calories per day. This means that each day you might burn around 1773 calories. In order…
-
You "risk" gaining weight anytime you consume any type of calories. That doesn't mean you will. Use an online calculator to figure out your TDEE then shoot for 500 calories below that. once you do that for a few weeks you can adjust your intake up or down based on your results.

I use Miracle Whip Lite, 20 calories per tablespoon and I rarely need to use more than 2 tbsp. I use ketchup sparingly and don't really worry about it since it is low cal in small doses.

Congrats again Craig! And for what it's worth I did my first two 5Ks at around 360 pounds. I just stay at my pace and make sure I don't overdo it. If you don't already have knee or leg issues I would think you'd be ok but as someone else posted you might want to check with your doc too. Good luck!

I LOVE low fat mozzarella cheese sticks from Market Basket. I find them delicious and the ones I eat have only 70 cals per stick. Plus I pick them apart strand by strand so it takes a long time to eat... overall it can help slow down my intake if I'm feeling impulsive
-
Hahaha! Nice catch, l can't believe I missed that too! :blushing: Again, thanks for the positive feedback everyone. MFP and all of you are a huge part of my success. Keep on doing what you guys do

Cool, if you change the wording on your profile I'll edit/remove my first response to you calling for the block/ignore.
-
Maybe you are ESL but "those who are" refers to people not a medical diagnosis. *Edited to note that walkner88 has changed the wording on his profile.
-
Original post removed after walkner88 updated his profile.

Thanks for the love everyone  This list was a long time in the making and I am so happy to share what worked for me.

ENOUGH with your reason and practicality! I will not stand for this!

Well even though no one is talking about insurance, you got me there. BMI is bull****. The insurance game is disgraceful. Unfortunately I don't know how to get around it short of winning the lottery. But I do know that advocating, protecting and legislating a lifestyle that is unhealthy for most people is not the answer.
-
Slippery slope? Did you even read what iddreams posted? She spoke about fat discrimination and how she overcame it and you counter with a copy and pasted definition that doesn't even apply and has no meaning to anything she said... artmrn was right.
-
I don't have any first hand knowledge of the community and resources offered by NAAFP, so I will defer to you on that. I also agree with a few of your points. But I disagree on this one: It all comes down to your definition of "fat". (****, why do late night debates always end up at semantics? ) When I think of fat,…

Ah, perhaps I should have saved myself the time and effort. But whatever, tomorrow is my sleep in day :drinker:

I've finally found the rub... I believe for the vast majority of people, being fat is a choice. I also think that for most people, being fat is unhealthy. I think it is wrong to protect people from a personal decision that is unhealthy. Bottom line, when it comes down to it, I side on personal choice, not legislation.…
