Hahaha! Me too! I am up to 10 "girl" style push ups, for each set. That is an improvement though! I could only do a few the first few days.... :flowerforyou:

Hey Everyone! Great work all around. How are we doing? I still can't believe the changes in my body already! Do you all find that the ab workouts aren't quite enough? She kills my shoulders, but I have still been doing a variety of crunches, planks (side and regular) on my own.... which leads me to starting an ab group...…

So I weighed in this morning, and yep, I'm UP 3 lbs. However, I have lost some serious inches this week! 1.5 " off my waist, and 3" off my hip! Thanks for all the advice! :flowerforyou:

Thanks again everyone for the great insights and for sharing your experiences. :flowerforyou:

Sometimes a cheat day is good to boost the metabolism, right? Body For Life recommends it once a week.... Hope you enjoyed it!

Thank you ALL for responding! You've given me hope! You may have just saved me from hurting my scale...

I'm with Songbyrdsweet.... lean protien and low carb veggies for all your meals. Lots of water on days 1-8, but only 8 glasses or less on day 9, and no water until after being weighed on weigh in day. Don't eat anything on weigh in day either. I would quite the fibre supplements on day 7 or 8 to give it a chance to fully…

Thanks for sharing this, but I can't stay 165 pounds!!?!?!? This is ridiculous! Tomorrow is my official weigh in, so I HOPE to see some good numbers, but bigger numbers! Yikes. That would make me quit and stuff my face. But no. Calm down Betty. Push through. Hang on. Keep going. It's just fluid in the overworked muscles,…

Misty - WOW! That's awesome. Okay, WHAT is with the scale? I peaked today (and I was dressed, and it was after breakfast) but still, it was UP 3 lbs!!?!?!?!? Could it be???? My muscles are quite sore, so I am sure they are full of fluid and glycogen, so I am not going to freak out..... Weigh in is tomorrow.... No Shred for…

THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!! You are the best SH! Does this sound like a good workout program? For the rest of June & July.... - Shred DVD level 1 & 2 - running For August - Shred DVD - level 3 - running For September - get personal trainer at the gym for 6 weeks Thanks again - you add so much to this community of MFPers!…

SHBoss Could you kindly answer a couple of questions: (you seem to know SO much about all this!)... :flowerforyou: (1) Eat ALL exercise cals? E.g. yesterday, I did two workouts (with HRM - strength & cardio), so I was "supposed" to eat 1800 calories. I ate 1600, and my stomach was growling by bedtime. I just went to sleep.…

What an ispiration!!!!!!! Could you share what motivated you to make the move, and lose the first 200? You DO NOT have a long way to go! 195 is incredible, and while I don't know your goal weight, it looks like you only need to lose about 25% of what you have already lost! You are SO close!!!!! SO close! Keep going, and I…

30 Day Shred (I am a huge fan) is about $10. Chalean, while a more complete, and more intensive program is about $200 by the time it gets to your door. That in itself made my choice the Shred! :flowerforyou:

What do you mean!?!?!? That is incredible girl!!! That's an amazing change! You went from Plus Sized to "regular". I say congratulations! :flowerforyou:

Sizing is VERY tricky as with each designer sizes vary. In "women's" clothes I can wear as small as a 6, and often an 8 (e.g. Banana Republic, Liz Claiborne), and at the Gap or Old Navy my jean size is 10 (my 8's have gotten pretty tight) and I weigh 165 lbs at 5'8". In juniors (e.g. Forever 21) it's usually a size 12!…

Great post! :flowerforyou: I find that soy is almost non-existent now in health food stores, whereas in the 90's it was a staple! I was having a vegan friend over for dinner, and was making pizza for everyone else, and I could not for the life of me find soy cheese anyhwere - when in the 90's I had a veggie friend and used…

If you can't download from You Tube, you can certainly order the DVD's and it might be worth it. Windsor Pilates might be good over all workout for you - a few times a week. All of these exercises are going to give you pretty basic strengthening results - the only difference between people like us and people with 6 packs…

I love good old fashioned crunches, reverse crunches, and scissors. Jillian Michael's 30 Day Shred has some basic abs, while Windsor Pilates DVDs are more complete, and the P90X DVD set has a great ab workout, as does the Chalean Extreme set. You can look for samples of these on You Tube. Tracy Anderson also has some ab…

I think what you are doing is perfect!!! I am also using 5lbs, and in the beginning, my shoulders could barely take it, but now I am finding that I can move up from the 5 pounders! Hang in there! You're doing great! :flowerforyou:

Someone has asked about the accuracy.... I did a double check on a few items, and it is right on! :flowerforyou:

Thank you for sharing that! I really didn't feel that my body fat was THAT high! But I could be deluded, and it is indeed that high! Either way, I am working on reducing it! Congrats to you btw - you are looking very slim!!! :flowerforyou:

:noway: :noway: :noway: Oh man! So 4.5 is a big deal!!!! To be honest, I don't "feel" all that "overweight", but heck, I could be 4.5 % MORE!!!! Thanks for the info. :flowerforyou: Oh dear - I think the scale and a measuring tape with just be my measures of choice! There is no denying whether change is occuring on the…

Mexican food and margaritas....... Oh, I shoulnd't have even typed those words..... :drinker:

Good morning ladies! Are we hanging in here? I thought I might take today off, but a good night's sleep, and I am ready to go!!!! Do you all find it is getting easier? I found that at about day 3, I noticed signigicant change! Have a great day! :flowerforyou:
-
SHBoss - you are amazing! That is an excellent idea. I do my body fat at the gym on a tanita scale, and using the calculators online - they all say the same thing! Do you think those are accurate? They say the error rate is less than 1% either way. True in your estimation?

Sorry to hear you've had such a negative experience! I used to get sudden bloating, with pain in my low abdomen, and I was experiencing cysts in my ovaries - it's happened many times - they just burst and reabsorb - I had one that was the size of a small egg, which was monitored with ultrasound, and it too burst. I went on…

BMI is particularly inaccurate for men (see SHBoss pic above - he clearly doesn't look "obese"). Think of two men - both 6 feet tall, both 200 lbs - one has 20 lbs more muscle than the other, both have the same BMI. With women, we generally don't build and maintain muscle as men do - hence, it is a better predictor for us.…
