What I found to work best is to actually wear a Heart Rate Monitor and I will go by that since it is calculating as I wear and do the workouts. And yes, you will see differences between the HRM and how the website will calculate so I think the best thing is to consistently use the same method to calculate. Others may have…

I'm in Austin and what keeps me motivated is that I want to see my grandchildren's children grow up when the time comes. I want to be a blessing and not a burden to my loved ones. Giving up is NOT an option!
-
I'm right there with you. I've lost 4 pounds and I've been at it since first of June! I can understand your frustration cause I've felt that as well but giving up is NOT an option. It takes time so just keep doing what you're doing!

Yes. I've got 24 to lose and not doing it at the rate of someone I know who is 110 lbs overweight and she's losing at a faster rate. And I workout and she does not, she refuses to.

I believe it works both ways and I'll tell you why. Up until recently I managed to stay slim and I always got comments from people that were not slim and they would also say I was 'lucky' when I was working hard to stay slim. Now, I'm at my heaviest EVER at 148 and people like that I gained weight cause then they don't…

Hi, I'll get that when I'm under 1200 calories. There are lots of other folks that have been here awhile and have a better understanding of it all that I do not. The main thing when I began was I began to see where the calories were and seemed it's mostly fast foods that works against me. Good luck to you! Just keep…

If it's important enough to you, you will make the time. We all have the same 24-hours in the day and there are many of us that work long hours, raised kids and I'd be up way earlier than needed when my kids were home and after they went to bed, that was more time for me to workout. My daughters both have kids with…

Yes! Count me in! CW = 148 GW = 128

Give yourself credit for what you did do! Not too long ago, I began real slow...not the Shred but just exercising. But I had to laugh cause I had done more than I had prior! A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step....

Uh, we all have veins and always have. From birth.

Hi, Lots of good advice being given her and I concur...it does get easier but you have to push through some of those tough times, especially when you're just beginning to make the change. Seems your body will fight you but remember your WHY! Some things that help me: 1) Reach for water OR Green Tea (no sugar) 2) go for a…

Hi, I experienced that too but it seems it takes our bodies time to get with the program. I say that because I felt that too and was getting discouraged at 3-4 weeks but then the day comes when you start to notice the changes, looser-fitting jeans/dresses, number goes down on the scale. Just stick with it and like someone…

OK, when I read the title I thought you must be working mega hours but that is not the case! Clearly you lack motivation or may I say you are using your part-time job as an excuse. There are lots of us working f/t and even with ANOTHER p/t job that can still get a work out in. Not meaning to sound like I don't understand…

You've got to take some responsibility here for your child. To say it will be easy would be to mislead you but we've all had to deal with difficult decisions and we can't play the helpless card if you really want to make the change. The best thing I did was to leave my daughters' father and as difficult as things were for…

This much thought into ICE?

I don't know about everyone else but I too was doing all the work but not seeing anything but it does kick in--results, that is. Just keep on keeping on. Don't be so hard on yourself.

It gets easier each day you do it. My alarm is for 4:15 and I'm up by 4:30 and out the door by 5.

Daily weigh-ins help me stay on track but I actually LOG my weight weekly because weight does fluctuate, particularly at my age (why is that?). The daily weigh-ins are a 'friendly reminder' of what I may have been eating like for previous day or two. But everyone sees it differently. But definitely do not allow it to bring…

Let your success speak for you. And just smile!

Take it from someone who doesn't have those muscular legs--embrace them! Most of us would LOVE to have legs like that!
-
HRM is a Heart Rate Monitor. The better ones are kinda pricey so I've not gotten one thus far.

I could then enjoy my hot baths all the more!

VERY encouraging! I'm sure many will feel the same and as for me, it has come at a time I most needed some movitation. THANKS!

I was 45. I'm now 57. I grew up with no home phone either. Yeah, back in the day........

Hi, I can identify! I'm fairly new here so I'm still working on finding exactly what works for me on a consistent basis. I understand about the up and down so let me just say, on those days that I don't do as well on my food or exercise, I used to let it bum me out but I just keep on keeping on. Change is not easy by any…

Hi, Also consider that muscle weighs more than fat. I had not lost weight but had lost inches. Lots of good advise given here but wanted to add this cause just recently I was bummed cause I had lot lost but I did lost inches.

That goes to show THEIR real colors. There are just some people that cannot say anything nice or encouraging to another. Blow it off cause if you feel good about your progress, that's what counts! And our bodies don't lose at a certain pace even with you doing all the work you're doing. But then you have those times of…

Hi, I read through all the comments/helpful hints and they are all great! But sometimes our kids get the very things that make them, them, pointed out by others due to the others insecurities and their attempts to make us feel bad about ourselves. I say that cause the very thing girls picked on me on when I was her age,…

I got mine back in April and it helps me immensely! I too had gone through many pedometers only to have them not work accurately but the Fitbit is the best investment I've made for myself and it keeps me encouraged cause you see when you need to get moving; perhaps that wasn't a problem for you but until I got my Fitbit, I…
