Sportsshoes dot com do some really good deals - they sell more than shoes too! worth keeping an eye on the likes of Wiggle for deals too. Went looking on the high street for a pair of running shorts a few months back and really struggled to find anywhere selling them, let alone a good pair! Found a pair of Ronhill ones at…

well that's 3 of us then. Am equally on the way back from injury - broke 7 of the 9 bones in my wrist and dislocated it as well!! only just been given the go ahead for a gentle ride so no trails for me for a while :o( Stick your headphones on, ignore any looks and go for it. If you've got a smartphone then Strava will…

yes. Although it's only yourself and it'll only catch up with you next week when you get on the scales. Weigh at the same time each week and stick to it - no matter what the scales might read at the time!!

Welcome! Am next door in Berkshire - although after my recent mountain bike accident I seem to spend a lot of time frequenting the John Radcliffe for follow up appointments! Should be back out again soon though. Sounds like you're well on your way to meeting your holiday target though. Oh, feel free to add etc etc .....…

Cycling's great isn't it! Although it's also the reason I've not been for a ride in the last few months as I smashed my wrist up after having a rather high speed argument with the ground in the local woods - don't let that put you off though!! Nutrition wise, carb-loading's a good idea for really long rides and I use a…

Request sent. The support you get from fellow MFPers definitely helps as they share in the highs as well as the lows and can really keep you going.

Another from the UK here, I'll say 'near London' as every American I've met has asked me if where I live is near London. It isn't but I find it easier all round just to say yes. Have a look for the team uk community if you want to chat with more of us.

Definitely in for the long haul, no fad diets here - just old fashioned nutrition and exercise! Feel free to add me if you want.

Hi from bonnie Berkshire ;o) In case you were wondering it's bloomin' freezing here!

Hi, Just over the boarder in Berkshire here.

Surely if milk was so horribly bad for you then in this information hungry world we live in we'd know that by now? It's fine to drink something less calorific, in fact it really doesn't matter what you eat or drink as long as the nutrition is right when you add it all together. Healthty eating is all about nutrition and…

Check out sportsshoes.com, they sell more than shoes ;o) I have a variety of stuff, from Gore to Ronhill to Trespass, when it's cold out I wear my unpadded cycling tights under my shorts to stop my legs freezing, long sleeved top and a wind proof jacket, when it's really cold a hat and gloves too.

it's really hard at first, but then a couple of things happen - you get used to the portion sizes when you're cooking and also your stomach does too. You'll go over and also get hungry at first, but then it becomes the norm so stick with it. On a side note, well done for getting anywhere near 1200 a day, I'm at 1800 and…

Hi Chrissy, I'm Tom and am from Great Shefford (near Newbury).

Snacks are a tricky one, I love granola bars but at 200 calories a pop I save them for an exercise day treat. I always had a couple of pieces of fruit to have with my lunch and I've stopped having them right after my sandwich and have them when I'm next hungry instead. Sometimes thirst is mistaken for hunger so make sure…

Try to avoid the scales till your weigh-day, losing 1lb a week is less than 65 grams a day - that won't register on most sets of scales. You'll also notice change in your body, I haven't lost much weight over the last couple of weeks and I was starting to feel a bit like you until I noticed I was using a different hole in…

1977 Austin Allegro Vanden Plas in white. Bit of a family hand-me-down and in surprisingly good condition, not to mention the only car I've owned with a full leather interior and walnut dash!

I think you need to add motivational to your list, they're going to hit a wall at some point and you need to be able to spot it and help them through, you also need to get them fired up for a good workout and also make sure they're looking forward to every session.

Quick one regarding saddle comfort, buy padded shorts, they're well worth the investment. Another thing, the reason why performance saddles are small is to reduce chaffing, wider saddles can cause chaffing against the saddle which is the cause of saddle soreness so beware saddles that look really comfy as there's a…

What makes even less sense is that slimming drinks will also remain VAT free, now please correct me if I'm wrong but aren't these just protein drinks with a few vitamins thrown in? The proposed VAT changes are due to come into force on 1st October (so stock up before hand!), and the government are currently having a…

I don't see why it can't just say that *user* was xxx calories over/under for the day, things would be much more transparent then without people having to open their diaries up.

I'm sure it'll come as a shock to most people exactly how many calories are in their curry, it's definitely a good thing and will hopefully make eating out a much healthier experience. The changes are definitely a good thing, I only hope the information isn't hidden away behind a plant pot and shown in full view on the…

That the Army are really good at hiding and their flares are really bright - was taken without flash after riding through what turned out to be a training exercise as a huge amount of gunfire had just broken out when that pic was taken.

Have you thought of having a recovery drink straight after such an intense work out? It'd give your muscles a helping hand to repair and recover and reduce the aches and pains the following day(s). I use SIS Rego Recovery, the strawberry one tastes great too.
-
I use a protein drink after a long or hard exercise session, specifically to aid the recovery of my muscles. I use Science in Sport products (in this case Strawberry flavoured Rego Recovery) as they work best for me. As already mentioned you can also use it as a meal supplement / substitute to feel full and keep calories…

Hi, Have heard about this but not done it myself but it sounds pretty good. Am a part-time runner as I much prefer being out on the bike but I can fit a quick run into some days where I wouldn't get out otherwise - did 6 miles yesterday in fact. Got a couple of tips though: - check your trainers - footwear's very important…
