broccoli, which is weird b/c i never liked it, or i guess pretended not to like it, until i started this whole thing. now i can't get enough. cooked carrots is also pretty high on the list. tough to beat a fresh crisp apple.

i agree with what a lot of the posters above me said and ironically, lost 70 pounds on my own, before i set foot in a gym. some gyms offer a free training session when you sign up. if yours does, take advantage of that and tell the trainer you want a general overview of the equipment that will improve your general health.…

about 500 probably, and thats a high estimate. didnt feel well and didn't eat much of anything all day. will say that it was good at the end of the night not feeling like i was gonna explode due to overeating.

a term used around here often is "active rest day." it is a break from your normal exercise routine, but still doing some light to moderate exercise, like walking, a short hike or bike ride, stretching or yoga too. listen to your body. you will know when to completely take a day off and when you can still be active.

if you both belong to a gym, go max out on the bench press. record how much you can lift three times. or even once, i guess. then pick a date in the future to do it again. he would increased the percentage amount of weight he can lift, wins. just an idea.

in for kind bars. ate kashi bars for a while, but find kind bars more satisfying and healthier when comparing ingredients. also, mens health magazine rated them one of their top foods in some study.

if they hurt so badly, nobody would have more than one...kinda like kids. relax...just kidding about the last part.

long day. pizza and too much beer.

love my polar ft4. never workout without it!

i am much more productive when i make a list... my list usually starts out like this... 1. make "to do" list. 2. cross of number 1. 3. list everything else i gotta get done today... not sure what it is that motivates me when i have the list on paper. the list is always in my head, but something about visually seeing it,…

wasn't much of a water drinker either. played around with cold water vs. room temperature water and realized room temp was much easier for me to drink. try that.

a shot of alcohol is about 100 calories, give or take, depending on what type. mix that with diet soda and you could be ok, numbers wise. sweet, beachy drinks that come with umbrellas will be several hundred calories each, and full of sugar. i have no idea about wine and most regular beers are about 125 calories, while…

Billy Joel Chevy Chase Cindy Crawford Some guy that turned out NOT to be Andre Agassi, altho I still have my suspicions Alan Alda John Legend about a year ago, although I didn't know it was him until someone told me. I still didn't know, but shook his hand anyway. Now, of course, I know who he is. Had beers with Brutus the…

<not exactly a close up, but after 13 knee surgeries, there isn't really anything pretty to look at. which is fine with me, i'd rather have functional, than beautiful...

love my polar ft4. not sure on the differences between the 4 and 7, but if i remember correctly, the 7 did more than i needed it to.

where do i start? my top 5 would probably be... - took my shirt off at the beach for the first time in about 25 years last summer. - amusement park/ carnival rides - hot yoga - hiking - spin class

check out the spincycle channel on iheartradio. sounds perfect for what you are looking for.

stop lunges immediately. swimming, riding a bike, elliptical are all good on the knees. i have partial replacements in both knees. squats and lunges are out for me for life. if they are part of a video you follow, replace that part with upper body stuff or stretches or mountain climbers or burpees with limited jumping.…

thanks for all the tips... i normally workout after work, so around 4. but now school is over in the next few days and i gotta workout and be back home before the wife leaves for work at 8. either that or take son to gym with me, and that's probably not happening. i have found that i really don't like to workout at night,…

my two cents...i agree with above post, it depends on terrain and type of bike, but i rarely sweat on my rides as well. partly b/c the wind helps keep me cool as i ride. just something minor to think about. welcome to cycling. be careful.

i woke up an hour earlier than my alarm was set to go off. couldn't go back to sleep. grabbed the shoes, brushed the teeth, and took the hound for a walk for 45 minutes. got back a minute before my alarm was supposed to go off. nice surprise quick workout on an otherwise busy day!

congrats on joining the gym. not being a woman, i have never read it, but a lot of people suggest New Rules For Lifting for Women, or something like that. i am a big fan of bodybuilding.com. they have great, quick, easy to follow videos on how to do certain exercises and offer a bunch of routines for a variety of different…

forgot the title of a book i am looking to read, maybe someone here can help before i go on vacation... its something about how we raised a generation of kids on the mindset of "everyone's a winner." any ideas? i think i'll recognize it if i see it... thanks.
