  • Many of us don't log exercise calories. If you find you're not losing weight, consider sticking to 1400 regardless of daily exercise.
  • Just an update for you guys, I went to the farmer's market here last week(it's on Sunday until 2 or 3 pm). Tons of great natural meat and products(honey, soap, pasta, jams, etc.) but sadly just two produce stands- albeit good ones including Jason's backyard. Recommended, but not as much produce as i'd like!
  • Looks great. One tip I have tried with pasta is to replace(or augment, really) noodle portions with zoodles(noodle-sliced zuchinni). Makes for a great serving size. I'll have to try the cottage cheese!
  • Ah, you people. Did she say specifically this was not an attempt at a quick fix and she knows calorie reduction is the only way to lose weight? Yes. And what do people comment on? How it's not a quick fix and calorie counting is all you need to lose weight. How insightful and helpful! Anyway OP, some of these can work to…
  • These are great ideas guys, thanks so much for helping me out with suggestions. Tips on bringing fruits are great, as remembering that subway is still an option. Thanks again!
  • Oooh, string cheese, I had forgotten that existed. I will luckily have a cooler on me for the trip.
  • Looks like with more research, the answers converge toward 'very very minimally if at all." As far as diluting acids, it appears that water itself is not a signalling factor for gastrin, which is the main chemical that induces the release of hydrochloric acid from the parietal cells of the stomach- and other studies show…
  • Hah! Yeah I could see that. I have read that ingestion of alcohol does indeed slow down digestion a bit though, if you're curious! ( http://www.bmj.com/content/341/bmj.c6731)
  • Ah, what eloquent and valuable input. Bravo dude.
  • vs. Both of these sound really reasonable but again conflict with each other. Sure, the applesauce would flow faster- but could diluting the stomach acid keep food in the tummy longer? Interesting. And yes, don't worry guys, I'm not too hung up on it- I know in the grand scheme of things it makes little difference. But…
  • Yes, I agree we shouldn't 'nitpick' and 'complicate things' but these two opposing comments are commonly given out as part of overall advice for helping to deal with hunger and meals. So, I think it's worth a think. I've thought about it enough to ask. Perhaps I should try it out personally, eating identical things at…
  • So I've tried both the baking soda and salt tips (from small to higher volumes) with little impact on peelability. You know what does make a difference? The eggs can't be too fresh. The older an egg is the easier it is to peel. I will buy an extra carton of eggs and leave them the fridge a week or so then boil them, like…
  • Anyone ever use those 'steam bags' that are made just for microwaving fresh fruit/veg/meat in?
  • Feel absolutely terrible after a binge last night. Hating myself a bit. (4600 cal day) Eating so much your stomach hurts and it doesn't even taste good just to keep going. Jesus what is wrong with me. Business trip next week has me super stressed, but I'm disappointed in myself for not using something, anything, else to…
  • I'm also looking forward to starting this as well within the week. I also had tried this previously and quit as I pushed myself too hard. With lessons learned I'm sure I'll love it this time. Maybe we can start a c25k mini-thread for us within this group to check in.
  • Oh that sounds great. Maybe we could go together sometime! I know roughly zero people in town and while I do enjoy a good solitary hike, companionship is occasionally nice too :)
  • One of my goals this summer is to establish a exercise routine, something I don't hate, but more important, that I can stick to. **But I'm so lazy you guys. Just pure lazy. I don't know how to get over it. ** I know I feel better after. I have some moderate difficulty-yoga videos I 'like' but last night I just sat on the…
  • It's so great so far. Trying to get lots of outdoor time in without killing myself too much at first(many of the day hikes are 13+ miles) as I'm so out of shape. Gotta checkout Rainier. Any specific ferries/piers/hikes in mind? I'm always looking for things to do around this great city. So far I've loved walking around the…
  • Doing pretty ok. Big changes recently. I've been sent to Seattle for work over the summer, and am very much enjoying the lovely weather here over the scorching heat of Texas. So great to be bale to go out for a walk and have it be a bearable temperature. However, is this city filled with amazing food or what? It's been…
  • I just don't want to worry about having by body be 'out of the standard range'. Some recent things that I encountered, was excited about doing, and then couldn't when I 'remembered' my weight/dimensions: 1)Indoor skydiving 2) Exploring 'City Museum' in St. Louis 3)Passing an Airforce civilian physical for the flight crew…
  • This so much. One thing that has helped(in the short amount of time I have been here) is to LOG EVERYTHING. I used to go over, eat 2000 calories in a meal after giving up, and out of shame/horror never record it. This was true folly because it never showed me my true ways, but also I came to realize it was a way of me…
  • All just good points. It's damned hard to change this way of thinking but it's totally possible.
  • That's an interesting point sullus. It's hard to recall that a 500 cal deficit is just that, and by eating 500 over your reduced calories, you really are just at maintenance. Positive way to look at it.
