I don't have narcolepsy, but my mom does. Her experience mirrors yours - always hungry, has sleep apnea and is obese. I'm glad you found medication to help!

I am 2 weeks out from my sleeve. Last week, I had 4 days where I either stayed the same or went up a bit. I think it was my body rebalancing a bit - getting more hydrated, more muscle, less fat. Probably some "waste" building up in my intestine, as well. Then, I dropped the weight I gained, plus 2 lbs, in just a few days.
-
Greenbay, that's great!

My goal for this week - be at 10,000 steps by end of week. Consistently get 64 oz of water/day
-
Split pea soup - I'll be putting this through the blender when it cools. It will be nice to eat the same thing as my family (even if I'm only eating 1/4 cup).

Hi Marta! Glad you are doing better. You'll be up and going in no time. I'm about 5 days ahead of you - my gastric sleeve was on August 3. Are you on anything for the heartburn? My doctor puts everyone on heartburn meds, plus allows us to take Gas-x.
-
Maria, you are an inspiration. Way to go!

Don't buy - you have no idea what size you'll be next summer. I've been buying a few staples. I need a work wardrobe primarily, so I just buy the basics, and when a really good sale is on, I'll buy a few sizes. Then, I'm using Gwynnie Bee (rentals) to help add some variety.

Thanks, guys. I'm more concerned about the adults I talk to who are too polite to complain.

Also, Spain is the home of Tapas, which are just the right size for us.
-
Really, you have two issues: traveling with a group and perhaps not knowing Spanish (I don't want to presume). Spanish foods can be wonderful and healthily and you should be able to find stuff you like if you can identify it on the menu. However, if the tour folks have arranged your meals, you need to work with them, and…

To help with my goal, I got a new mug

Wow, love everyone's goals. I'm one week out from surgery, so my goals are: Sip enough protein and water Walk 8,000 steps in a day by the end of the week.

So, one piece of advice: no dancing at all when you are only 6 days out from surgery. I put on some 80s Prince today for some motivation, shook my hips a couple of times and OWW! Ok, I'll keep to walking.

I think it's helpful to remember where they are coming from, and their hate is more about them then you. That being said, you can also, nicely, call them on their behavior, say that it hurts and is untrue. If they still continue to choose to be hateful, you can choose to limit your interactions with them. I know that I've…

Marta, I'm a pescatarian, too. I was vegetarian/vegan for 15 years, and started eating some fish 10 years ago, when I was pregnant with my first kid.

I only have a little bruising.

I'm feeling pretty good today. Still gassy (gas-x is my new best friend), but my energy level is up
-
Congrats! What surgery are you having?
-
All your hard work is really showing! Congratulations!

Thanks, everyone for your well wishes. I had a crazy dream last night - I dreamt that I accidentally ate a cookie this morning (before surgery). I rushed around, got some syrup of ipecac, tried to, uh, get rid of the cookie. I couldn't, but surgery still went on. Everything ended up fine in the end. I'll post again when…

My surgery is today, too. I know how you feel.

all your hard work shows! Great job!

I think that there is a trollish element in many boards. And some people only feel better when they are attacking others. It's ugly, but it is their problem, not mine. In person, I've gotten a few less then positive responses, but mostly people have been insanely supportive.

I'm having surgery on Monday, and can I tell you, you are all inspirational.

Lori, I'm very sorry. Does your employer have an employee assistance program? You can often get a few sessions with a therapist for free. I don't know how you feel about therapy. But, I found that a few sessions in therapy helped me handle a couple of times when adult life just became complicated and hard (death, divorce,…

Ok, so that was a failed try at quoting. Question remains / what do you mean, that it's 80% mental?
