You probably need to give your body time to adjust. You didn't become insulin resistant overnight, nor will the issue go away overnight. If you want to learn more about KETO/LCHF, go to those specific forums. Good luck, I hope you are able to get these issues under control and feel good while doing it.

I use it every morning in my coffee, it gives me an nice boost of energy that lasts well past "lunch" time. I also found this online, and tend to think it may be more helpful then someone saying "A lot of calories for a tiny volume that won't give you much energy or keep you full so you will be eating more in no time...…

The only times I can stay under 20g is by severely restricting the veggies. Yes, it seems counterintuitive to what you think you know, but to truly get into and stay in ketosis, you may have to go and stay that low as well. I eat a lot of meat, eggs and cheese. Occasionally some spinach or broccoli and cauliflower. No…

Weekends are soo tough, good for you for making the choice to stay in and control what you can. Eating out, especially as a newbie, can really throw us for a loop. It gets easier, as you learn more about what foods are best for your specific goals.

Thanks Gale. I know there are many people who stay in ketosis with the 'higher' carb intake. I took a look through my food logs and realize that my pre-keto carb intake was always very erratic, but almost always over 100 gs. I went through the work out and restrict calories phase and while I initially lost some weight, it…

Triciawebb78, get yourself a blender for sure!! BPC is my key for following a LCHF woe. It was my first step last September and the impact it made on my energy and reducing my appetite in the morning was eye opening to me. I have one every morning and have experimented with it a bit, but never cold (the butter and oil…

EAVA, your symptoms do sound like the 'real' flu, so please do not assume it's keto related. Perhaps a chat with your doctor, if not a visit, would be in order? Get better soon.

You and I are in sync MelRC117!! I do have a question too. I had a cheat yesterday (I intended to have a nibble of a chocolate chip cookie, but ended up inhaling the whole thing!) and logged it and thought OK, that blows my ketosis. However, last night and this morning, my test strips are still measuring dark pink. I…

I use the ketostix because I like seeing the pretty colors...and it's affirmation that I am on track. There are day when I am tempted to test during every visit to the powder room (and drinking so much water means a lot of visits!). I know they are fallible, but not usually during the initial phases which is when we…

Congratulations on your loss! Starting Keto, like any diet change, is tough. People's bodies all react differently and judging your progress against another's can cause a lot of frustration. When you first start eating this way, you shouldn't be as concerned with your total calories, but where your macros fall. In that…

OH, new NSV....I bought new dress pants last week for work and they don't fit because they are too big!!

Hello Fantastic, welcome the group!! The main forum is not very welcoming to us LCers, hope they weren't too mean. I've be doing LCHF for a few months, with a break over the holidays, but really love it. Coming into this and the Keto group has really helped me stay on course, learn about this woe and how to do this long…

First, be patient this is the storm before the calm. Your body is confused and it's taking it out on you, but it will pass. Up your fluids, up your sodium. I found broth helped me a lot, and I used those little cubes and sipped it. I also did not track my calories, only carbs. Finally, try to take it easy and not push…

Wow, you've dropped 20 lbs in just 21 days...that is more then a pound a day!! That's awesome, and probably also the reason for your "stall" It's a lot to lose in such a short time, so not very sustainable. That being said, your body is trying to pace itself. DO NOT get discouraged, you've obviously found what works for…

My current goals are: 1) lose 13 lbs by April first (putting me at 155lbs for the first time since I had my son) 2) start exercising consistently again When I first started the LCHF woe, I find it really hard to work out. Then as I adjusted to it, the weather got really cold and then...the dreaded holidays! So I never go…

I have BPC every morning and it (along with a another regular coffee), gets me through until lunch (if not later) easily. Coffee 1 tbls coconut oil and 1 tbls butter, sometimes with a little heavy cream and often with a shot of sugar free flavored coffee syrup. Delicious, filling and quick. Though, I am going to make that…

I drink at least 4 liters of water a day on average a day. I also drink coffee and tea, so it's a lot of liquid and a lot of trips to the powder room!! I will add you as a friend. I have been sporadic over the holidays, but am buckling down going forward to be ready for the spring and summer. I don't have any before and…

I think if you are already active, you should stick with whatever you enjoy. If you are looking to be more active, start slow. Yoga, swimming and definitely walking are all low impact and will help you feel better. Just don't push yourself, especially if you are fairly new to KETO, the bodies' adjustment phase is pretty…

Filmy pee is up to interpretation. If you are looking for visual confirmation, I suggest you get some stixs. I use them, though many advocate that they are not reliable, as I like to see a confirmation and I think for newbies they hit that mark. Best guide is how you are feeling and accurate tracking of food. Good luck.

Frob, thank YOU so much for starting this thread. It's a great mix of old and new and I think everyone will benefit from this strong networking opportunity. As for me, I'm Darlene, DAM5412 being my initials and wedding date. I joined MFP a few years ago, right before my wedding, for the reasons most brides join a weight…

Don't beat yourself quiarga. I was brought up the same way: finish what's on your plate and don't waste. There is a point where you have to put your health first and as you learn what is good for you, you will have to get rid of the crap food. I went to lunch with a work colleague yesterday and had a burger with a salad. I…

I use sugar free flavored syrup in my morning coffee, a splenda packet in my mid morning drink and will occasionally have a diet soda (usually if I'm craving sweets/tom) and as long as it keeps me under my 20g carb goal, I don't feel it's an issue. There are many days that I don't do the splenda or diet soda, but I would…

I log as it helps me to keep on track, for the most part. It's tough especially on my bad days, but it does help me see where my pitfalls are and also what works for me best over time.

Congratulations!! It's great to see all the hard work paying off!

Cheaters cheat...fat, thin, young, old, attractive, ugly. Don't blame opportunity, weight loss, temptation or anything else.

Deli meats, string cheese or single serve packets, slim jims, eggs, eggs, eggs, ricotta cheese, avocado, coconut oil and butter. Spinach, mushrooms, broccoli, cauliflower. Chicken with skins (think thighs, wings and breasts, with skin), Beef, Fish. Heavy whipping cream, nuts, almond meal, peanut butter, ground flax seeds,…

Lift weights and do daily body weight workouts. You can't afford to lose more weight, but you can change how it's packaged. Weighted squats and lunges, lots of core work (planks, wall stands, abdominal work) will help tighten up what you're working with. Or, buy the spanx. Good luck and enjoy the upcoming festivities!!

Yep and for some diets (keto/LC) you need to actually increase your salt intake. Cravings in general, especially during the first days of a dietary change, are normal and sometimes distracting. Just set your plan, eat consciously and pay attention to how you feel. Best of luck!

I started keto/lchf towards the end of September, so I am about 8 weeks in and down 12.4 lbs. Prior to that, I was doing low fat, calorie restriction and heavy exercises and in 6 months I lost 23.5. I find keto/lchf is much easier for me, almost effortless as long as I watch my carbs. volfan22, your change is striking!! I…

What are your experiences with Keto? I've been following this diet for 2 months and have lost almost 12 lbs, compared to 23 lbs with just calorie restriction and heavy exercise over almost 6 months (and I know eat 300-400 calories more a day and do not exercise at all). What are your experiences with LCHF diets/lifestyles?…
