I run anywhere between 6 and 15 minute miles depending on my goals (and if my dog's with me!). I probably average 8-10 minute miles depending on the season. I run faster if I'm seriously training for an event; I run slower when I'm just getting some exercise & clearing my mind. Right now I'm focused on running a faster 5K,…

I just like the plain Coppertone SPF 30 oil-free. It works just as well as anything else, and it's decently inexpensive. I can't stand breathing in all the fumes from the spray sunscreen.

Eat a healthy meal shortly after working out. Something like a veggie egg omelet will work well if you're at home. I'm not a fan of the whole "recovery drink" phenomenon for short workouts like Insanity. The whole chocolate milk idea was spread by the dairy industry... just eat healthy & you'll see results.

Only shopping around the edge of the store is a good place to start. It's much easier to wreck your plans with 3,000 calories of Doritos than it is with 3,000 calories of chicken & broccoli. You'll have to do a little prepping at the beginning of the week for convenience foods, but it's soooo worth it to feel healthy &…

The Ramadan fast? I think it could work to only do 2 meals, as long as you don't go nuts at them.

That's an uneducated reply. The OP knows that she has PCOS, which is strongly linked to insulin resistance. That's why the lower carb diets are so important for losing weight with that condition. And it also means that women with PCOS are often put on Metformin to help with losing weight even if their bloodwork doesn't…

Fructose can cause GI problems in many people. Berries tend to be safer than other types of fruit, IME.

I've done that when I was stressed and having trouble controlling the amount of food I was consuming. That's not a normal problem for me, but stress does that to you. I feel like fasting gives you a feeling of power that you're not a slave to your body telling you to eat everything in sight. I can actually eat nothing (for…

I eat breakfast before running when I'm trying to train my stomach to be OK running full for a race. Any runs over 2 hours, I need to eat something before I head out - something carby like toast. Fueling my body well the night before has proven to be the most important factor, though, in having a great run. My best 5K time…

I don't count every walk separately, but I do take it into account when I set my activity level. I find it tedious to try to track all of my walking, since I walk a lot. If I were you, I would log it being very conservative with estimating your calories burned until you get a feel for what your base calories actually are.…

There are people on MFP eating everything from 800 calories a day up to several thousand calories a day. You can't compare your diet to other people and expect to make any sense out of it. I wonder if your nutritionist doesn't want to give you a calorie goal so that you're not obsessing about the exact amounts. I think…

Personally, I think it's more about building your body up over time to the workouts. I know plenty of distance runners who workout 7 days a week, and plenty of beginning runners who cause permanent damage from running too much. Just have some patience, and start out slowly. What about going for a nice walk today? Don't…

I'd throw on something like this: http://www.roadrunnersports.com/rrs/products/LOW184/womens-lole-victory-tank-top/ I actually find it hotter to workout without a top (but I do sometimes indoors if I don't want to do laundry). I'd respect that your husband doesn't want you to run around the neighborhood in just a bra -…

This is a great suggestion, since your body makes an indent in the mattress & you no longer fit that indent. I think you deserve a reward after that much weight loss, too! Great job!!!!

Fresh Direct. I eat much healthier if I don't wander through the junk food aisles of my grocery store. They deliver fresh produce & dairy & meat to my door weekly. It's the best invention of all time, IMO! And Amazon ships me some of the dried fruit & dates, etc.

Meat. Bacon. Eggs. Pork Chops. Salmon. Yuuuuuuuuuuuuuum!

I would find a new gym if you need to spend 30 minutes getting ready. It is rude to monopolize the only women's bathroom for that amount of time just for vanity. I can understand the other woman getting upset about it, although she is definitely dealing with it childishly. If I were you, I would talk to her - apologize for…

I think it's Primal that ends up pretty low carb because you eat fattier foods. Gotta love primal :) Not everyone is low carb but lower than SAD diets.

Why does your kid need to stay non-primal? Lots of kids are primal! It doesn't make sense to feed your kid junk food when you are switching to a healthier lifestyle. A good start can just be transitioning to more whole-food & gluten-free snacks. I'll recommend getting some yams to roast in case sugar cravings hit. They're…

Taco salads! Chop lettuce & tomatoes, put in a bowl (add avocados if you're OK with a bit more fat) Brown ground beef with taco seasoning Drain beef & eat on top of the lettuce & tomatoes with a dollop of salsa and maybe a bit of shredded cheese Like tacos but healthier & more filling per calorie

I don't buy into all that "ancestral diet" whoo-ha. But I really like eating a Primal diet. Pros: I feel healthier Never feel like my blood sugar is dropping (that faint, weak, NEED TO EAT feeling) but instead just a slow hunger before meals The foods aren't addictive for me - limited desire to binge eat I wake up more…

There's many options, but they're pricey. Boathouse Farms, Ensure, Boost, etc.

One of the best things that my mom did as a kid was only give us healthy snacks. There was a shelf in the fridge with bowls on it - usually grapes were the favorite, or carrot sticks with dip. Those were snacks. If I was super hungry, mom might give me a cheese stick or some pepperoni. Ice cream was not a snack - it was…

No. Move on and keep eating healthfully.

I think the ideal view of food is as a fuel for our bodies. When you complete a hard workout, your body DOES deserve good food. Think about what food is good for your muscles - those are what deserve a reward, not the sugar centers in your brain. The muscles deserve protein, carbs, and water. My reward now is free time.…

That was going to be almost my exact suggestion (I prefer butter). There are various theories about eating late at night, and mine is not to eat for 2 hours before bedtime. I eat to fuel my body - so when I eat before bedtime, I'm not fueling vigorous activity. I think that people who say just to cut calories are full of…

1) CONGRATULATIONS !!! Slow & steady weight loss is how people maintain over time. Six suit sizes is awesome progress. 2) Without seeing your diary, I would say to only stock your fridge with healthy foods. My fridge would be mostly meat & veggies (paleo type diet). If I don't buy unhealthy food like cupcakes, then I won't…

This research study on losing weight with PCOS advocates eating most of your calories at breakfast for weight loss http://scopeblog.stanford.edu/2013/08/13/study-shows-bigger-breakfast-may-help-women-with-pcos-manage-symptoms/ Eating in that pattern decreases insulin & testosterone levels, which is good if you have PCOS!…

You're way overthinking this ;) Put a hunk of fatty meat on the table, a few different vegetables, and berries for dessert. Keep some raw veggies & nuts around to snack on if you get hungry. Mix it up! Then you'll be fine ;) No one eats perfect nutrition and I'm not sure that's even a good goal to fit your nutrition…
