Yeah. Total TLDR I guess.

I started about the same place you did and it's taking me longer, but I couldn't agree more. Logging religiously is the key for me and MFP was my accountability and educational savior. I had NO idea what I was doing before trying MFP. I once messaged the developers and asked if I could send them money, haha. I got a…

Bro-science disagrees with this post.

I've been totally stuck for four months as well, just about 15 pounds from GW. I've been putting off the hardcore carb cutting, but I bet that's what I need to do. Just can't stand the idea of giving up my once or twice a week IPA binge.

I'm not sure my meaning was clear. I was saying that there is room for all kinds of possibilities and tweaking and one can accept that without saying we're invalidating the mathematical calories in / calories out science. So, I'd rather think my statement was open minded instead of closed and we agree?

And that, my friends, is the MFP Zen mission statement in a nutshell. QFT

I, for one, appreciated the OP's observation. I've tracked 24 weeks of food, website TDEE and scale results and then compared what I should have gained/lost versus the actual result. I've found some trends that are hard to explain. Over 8 week blocks (which sound long enough to control for fluctuations), I've found…

Hey OP, exactly the same experience here. I'm not sure if my fat is sentient or what, but it's like I'm getting psychic messages from my waist before I step on the scale.

Bell's Hopslam. Three hundred calories per 12 ounce bottle. If MFP is right on that, that's pretty sporty. Still drink it when I get the chance though.

I get a huge craft beer binge in once a week and maybe dabble on one other day. I'm still losing, but not as fast as if I never drank. Check out my log for last Saturday's SEC Championship Game party. Around 5000 epic calories. Roll Tide. But, I don't think alcohol hurts the diet beyond that caloric impact of the weekly…

I weigh every day and log it as well. By observing all fluctuations, I think I get a better idea of what kind of weekly trend I'm setting and I can mentally tie my cheats to bad results. In other words, if I know that I'm going to pay tomorrow at the scale for drinking that extra beer, I might be more motivated to abstain.…

I only pointed out comprehension because I doubted that you intentionally twisted my words. Please forgive my mistake sir or maam. I'm new to the Internets.

I was trying to come up with a non-food related example of alarmism run amok. Reading comprehension is your friend. On a serious note, several people prior to my post had alluded to alleged risks due to Splenda. I was not the one who fired the first shot I was merely trying to help the OP by countering unfounded…

I use about 1/8 a cup of Spenda with my one per day large coffee. It tastes awesome and I suffer no ill effects that I know of. I have continued to lose weight. I am highly skeptical of any claims that Splenda is somehow toxic without some sort of scientific proof. Until I hear something more compelling than people…

I have to think I'm an outlier. I'm just a tick under six feet tall, but I get my pants in a 29" length. I see women who are six or seven inches shorter than me with longer legs. :-) So, with a freakishly long torso, by percentage, I tend to easily carry more weight when compared to my height. I routinely fool the carnival…

I don't think two days of < 500 calorie drinking per week will do much to slow you down, especially if you continue to exercise. I fit your description almost perfectly, except I usually allow myself a day and a half of what I guess most on here would consider binge drinking per week. >1000 calories one day and around 500…

Didn't gain a bit! But I went up 100 calories a week for four weeks. So the old body adjusted slowly and then shifted back into drive.

I lost weight like crazy for 3 months using only a low calorie count. Then, I hit a plateau that was just like flipping a light switch. Not one ounce dropped in a month. I realized that I was eating so fewer calories than what my body needed that I had gone into starvation mode and my body was conserving everything.…

Well, I was definitely ready for a slow down, but not going from full speed to dead stop overnight. :grumble: I've gone from 1500 to 1700 and next week 1800. Per the Scooby calculator, I'm targeting 1950. At that intake, I should not gain and hopefully, I'll restart a slow weekly loss. My food digest is now public.

This is a huge cheer-up to read those responses MrsCheeseFrie and mwestonp! Thanks for the outside the box thinking and first hand experience. I'm going to take it to heart. And I have wondered about the inches, MCFrie. Anecdotally, I think you may be onto something! The Scooby website calculator is a great help too!
