Most people can comfortably start by eating back half of their estimated burn. If you're not losing while doing this, eat fewer back. If you're still losing at a good pace but getting hungry, eat more back. The math is sound, but there are too many unknowable variables to get a 100% accurate number. :ohwell:

My favorite part of this gif is you know he burst out laughing immediately after it ends.

I would murder someone if he promised to come visit me in jail. But he's such a freakin' sweet person it would probably make him cry.

Yogurt usually comes in 6oz cups. 6 ounces are 12 tablespoons. So 1 tablespoon is 1/12 of a serving, or 0.083 servings. Weighing is usually easier.

Just so you can get used to the terminology, nutrients come in two categories: macronutrients (macros: fat, protein, and carbohydrates), and micronutrients (micros: everything else, including fiber, sugar, vitamin C, etc.). :drinker:

Your friend sounds like a very sad person. :frown:

Because it's not intuitive that the measurements on the back of the package may not be accurate. If you want one half-cup serving of oatmeal, there's little reason to think that a scoop of oatmeal from a half cup measuring cup isn't right.

For some things, the measurement and weight are off. A leveled-off tablespoon of peanut butter is accurate to weight, but a leveled-off tablespoon of mayonnaise is a lot less than the given weight (woot more mayo!). Plus when you're measuring, say, potato chips, the irregular shape makes it really hard to measure by…

I like threads like this. Shows me exactly who to ignore.

Calorie deficit =/= starvation.

I just assume it's a redundancy, like queso cheese dip or Mt. Midoriyama. http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/DepartmentOfRedundancyDepartment

Water retention. Starting new exercise routines often causes the muscles to retain water as they repair, even for cardio if you're doing more than usual. Your weight should go back down soon.

Maybe he's a geometry kid. A lot of kids are good at geometry or algebra, but not both. I was a geometry kid. And it's rougher for us because you take 2-3 years of algebra and only one of geometry. If he's doing well in other subjects but not math, he's not lazy. Something's going on, he's not understanding. He tells you…

If it fits into your calorie goals and you like it, it's good for your diet. If it doesn't fit into your calorie goals, it's bad for your diet. You can either reduce your cream and/or sweetener, drink it black, or go without. If it doesn't fit into your calorie goals but you remove something else so it can fit, it's good…

Sure it is. I eat a meatless pasta meal once a week. You just have to pat attention to your portions for calories and make up your protein at other meals throughout the day. False. Meal timing is irrelevant to metabolism.

Make sure you log the fats you're using to cook them in, the calories can add up. As long as they fit your goals, though, you can eat as many as you like. I personally prefer to poach my eggs if I'm not scrambling or hard boiling. They have a similar consistency to fried without being greasy, which I don't like, and don't…

I'm not a big soda drinker. My brother goes through at least six cans a day and switched to Zevia brand, lost nearly 20lbs without making any other changes.

You keep saying that and it keeps not being true.

I have some individually wrapped Godiva truffles. 50 calories each.

I would agree with you, but then we'd both be wrong. Fat doesn't make you fat. Too many calories make you fat.

Rarely, for no other reason than I don't like most cheeses. Can't beat a good fresh mozzarella, though.

The idea of the "no poo" method is that shampoos use detergents that cause the scalp to produce more oils to compensate for overdrying. Once your scalp gets used to not having to replace oils, it produces less. It apparently works for some people, but not me. I have naturally 3A curly hair and finally found a…

A large amount isn't going to hurt if you aren't diabetic and it doesn't put you over your calories.

Your goal is 2,000 but you have 710 at the end of the day? So you're only eating 1,280 during the day? It might be more practical to eat more at each meal. But I don't know your schedule so it might not. I'd eat a 20g protein bar (I love Life Choice Peanut Butter Extreme) and fill the rest with ice cream.

I really hope they don't make him abusive.

Try gradually lowering your calorie goals. Try spreading your meals throughout the day. It won't do anything to your metabolism, but it may help with your satiety. If you normally have a bowl of cereal and an orange for breakfast, maybe eat the cereal at the normal time and have the orange halfway between breakfast and…

Using a tape measure (or a string later measured against a ruler) will give you a good starting point, but each bra style is different. Measure, get your assumed size, and try some on. Find one that fits you comfortably and looks good and buy as many as you can before they discontinue it. Sigh, every time... :grumble:
