Sorry doll can't see pics but if it's any consolation I don't know how to add pics either, but even though I can't see the pics I'm glad you are celebrating and proud of all your hard work, it takes dedication, commitment and hard work to get to where you are, way to go!!!!:drinker: Cheers

I sometimes do that as a "2-a-day" when I've reached a plateau in training and it's been an effective jump start. Basically you're doing circuit/interval training (look at the BodyPump, the Firm classes etc those workouts are modeled after cardio bursts then weight training). And if you're really getting your HR up quickly…

The cliched "you didn't put it on in a month/quickly don't expect to take it off quickly" is a cliche for a reason... It's true! I didn't lose weight at 1200 kcal, I was hungry a lot and I didn't have energy for my runs. It just seemed counterintuitive to me to eat more, I was like Hmmm if my BMR is 1450 and I eat LESS…

The lesson I'm trying to learn is how to focus on being positive & accepting of myself (and inevitable slip-ups) while maintaining accountability; and remaining accountable without being defeated/hindered by negativity; AND not equating acceptance with apathy. The whole reason I joined MFP was because I slowly, gradually…

^^^^ This! For running/sports injuries I use the RICE regimen (Rest, Ice, Compression, Elevation) plus NSAIDs as needed and topical Arnica. It's helpful to remember cold vasoCONSTRICTS and hot vasoDILATES. It's important to know if pain/soreness is from lactic acid 'burn' or real injury. Take care of yourself!

I'm relieved to hear that you don't want to lose anymore weight! 37 lbs in 3-4 months is really rapid IMO. I think your instincts are probably right, eat more, build muscle. Maybe try and forget about your scale and instead set fitness goals. Eat clean, eat lots, work out/lift, when you treat your body well the aesthetics…

I wish we could figure out a way as a society to incorporate acceptance with accountability, in a manner that encourages and motivates people. Your body is an expression of self, but we all know that self is so much more then the body that houses it. When we love our self, we take care of ourselves, we listen to what our…

I am guessing that you're not eating enough and your body is stressed. I abhor the term "starvation mode" but prefer the term "conservation mode". I'm no expert but I didn't lose weight at 1200 kcal. and I felt lousy as well. Sometimes people say they just aren't hungry and it's difficult to eat more, if this is your issue…

So uplifting to read such a positive post! You've already accomplished a LOT and you've got such an enthusiastic momentum I've no doubt you'll continue to be an inspiration. Thanks for sharing, keep up the great work:)

The only way you can fail is if you give up.... We all make mistakes, we all do things we wish we hadn't. I know this is true for me. I have to accept the mistakes, they've happened. I have to be accountable without dwelling on negativity and self recrimation. Strength is not defined by never falling, it's defined by…

Ergggggggggggggh!!!! So. Totally. Agree. I have pretty pervasive ADD & someone next to me perpetually fussing w/ their phone is distracting beyond description. Also, I'm like "Yay glad you're here and doing ANYthing is better then nothing gym-wise but WTF is the point when you are leafing through a magazine and…

Just tell them: I'm working really hard to be accountable and aware of my food choices and how they affect how I feel and look, please be supportive. And on a personal note, I myself, became my heaviest, most depressed, unhappy with my body by using the "Just this once" or "It's ok" rationalizations. Slowly but surely the…

I love, love, love this thread! There's just something that fills you with pride when you can say "I'm a runner." I've been a runner since junior high (I'm in my 30s) was a sprinter/mile relay/hurdles so my runs were like 3-4 miles for many years. I always come back to it because there's just something about the commitment…

Hahahahahahaha:laugh: So, so true. My life and thus my wardrobe (even pre mfp) consisted of "work out clothes" (in winter the stetchy black boot cut pants, summer running shorts) and scrubs. The creep snuck up on me for sure. I need a monthly "muffin top" check in jeans to keep me accountable.

You look great, more importantly I can tell by your enthusiasm and happiness bubbling from your post you clearly FEEL GREAT. Congrats on embarking on a journey of health and fitness, you're in your 20s believe me the habits/lifestyle changes you've started NOW will benefit you sooooo much long term. Way to go!

Such an apt title for this post, I am literally speechless and awe struck by the sheer force of will it took for you to get to where you are. Thank you for sharing, I hope you will share your story with others in the SLE community to motivate and empower them to achieve their best life (yes I am shamelessly quoting Oprah)…

I know exactly what you mean! My S.O. has a lifestyle and schedule that is prone to late nights and "on the road" options i.e. diners and fast food..... When we're home it's relatively easy because the majority of options are healthy whole foods (and I am a "foodie" for sure! I loooove to cook!) when away I try to plan,…

^ Agreed! Wondering the age of OP? Adolscent I'm guessing? Following a "meal plan" (a.k.a. 'diet') is maybe a helpful guide when you start out (i.e. to get ideas for healthy options etc) but what's most important is learning what your body needs and committing to providing yourself with healthy nutrient dense FUEL. You say…

We're similar in build. I'd suggest eating @ least yr BMR for net. I started on MFP last winter and desperately tried the 1200 kcal thing & it was not only no sustainable but not successful! Didn't lose anything til I changed my settings to lose 1/2 lb per wk. I'm down 22+lbs, I'm 5'6" and I work out 4x wk. Listen to yr…

 My friend just met a guy who lost like 60 lbs in 3 mos (a lil rapid if u ask me, but whatevs) she said he kept lifting up his shirt to show his abs a la "the situation" I'm laughing @ yr post b/c I realize you're just trying to say in a humerous way what you ended with, essentially, just b/c an AFFG lost…

Wow, I've been doing this since winter 2012 and you've already just about surpassed me! You look lovely, congratulations and keep up the good work! I really liked your emphasis on lifestyle change & accountability because those are the keys to long term success!

I am a firm believer in physical activity as a fundamental component of wellness.... So by all means, RUN and move and give yourself the joy, endorphins, pride & stress relief that exercise provides, but use common sense: give your body fuel so it will do the work you ask of it! This isn't about punishing yourself,…

Refeed days, eating @ maintainence for a week, doing 2-a-days (cardio), calorie zig-zagging.... I'm actually on a plateau (one of many) the only way I've been able to break them seems counter-intuitive but it's been to take stress off my body for a week or so and then go back hard the next week, whatever you do (I've…

OP: I understand what you're saying. It's about how you FEEL and being healthy and fit and adopting of lifestyle of wellness and learning to be conscientious & nurturing towards our bodies. What you said about "the 5-10 lbs" being the beginning of a slide into becoming overweight is so true for me personally. While I was…

What an eloquent chronicle of the ups and downs everyone experiences when they embark on a lifestyle change. But the ultimate message: commitment and dedication will yield results. Sometimes we see the before and after and read a brief synopsis but don't get the description of: I was so sore, exhausted after 15 minutes....…

I am a believer in all things in moderation, that anything in excess is bad for you. One thing that's been useful for me is really exploring and understanding how I feel overall in relationship to diet, health & fitness. What tastes good in the moment (for me things like Mac & Cheese, deep fried ANYTHING, or processed…

Way to go! What amazing dedication and commitment! You look fantastic! Thanks for posting and offering inspiration and motivation to all of us!

Everyone struggles with this from time to time, honestly once you get started and make it a habit, that's what makes it easier. And just remind yourself "I never feel WORSE after I work out" (except in rare occasions of illness/overtraining) everyone always feels better/more energetic after a work out! Agree with everyone…

I'm kinda in the same boat, I have a stress fracture so no running for me:frown: Been doing a lot of biking (road, spin and recumbant) then of course floor work and weights. If you go to a gym ask one of the trainers they're pretty good at developing work out plans to accomodate injuries. Are you casted or splinted?…
