The calculators are only estimates, even under the best of circumstances. I have found (through doing the calculators myself, as well as checking some other forums and getting advice). The calculators are waaaaayyyy off for people with a lot of body fat. If what you are doing is working for you, and you don't have a…

If you aren't having problems keeping up with the 1200 cals, you might want to stick to it for a few weeks (depends on you. I know I couldn't). Keep in mind that a lot of that 9 pounds from your first week is water weight.

^^This^^ ETA: When I used to think Chili just HAD to have beans, I used (canned) Goya pink beans. Smaller so you don't feel like you got a mouthful of beans in every bite : )

Certainly can't hurt !

Wait, WHAT ?

Totally wasn't trying for a hard last letter, I just got lucky :)

Anthrax

^^That should be gone quick

It would appear you are part of the problem then.

Well, in all fairness, there probably ARE people that hate ALL exercise. I find quite a lot of it all annoying though, and I try to keep from posting snarky stuff, because I realize people are often desperate and frustrated, or don't even really have the most basic rudimentary knowledge about nutrition (ie thinks dietary…

I forgot the worst part, they shell the peanuts too. We are losing soooooo many nutrients that way !
-
Exactly ! Even the so-called "Natural" peanut butter. Guess what they do ? They mash up a bunch of peanuts. Then they ultra-process it even more. They put it in a jar.
-
Just leave it behind and keep on keepin' on.

What did the other 10% say ?

Sounds like fun, count me in/interested, pending date and time of course

Grass is not on the list, sorry

I used to have this problem of being self conscious in the gym. I currently weigh 255 @ 5'8". I have come to realize a few things which may (or may not) be helpful: 1- We're all there to better ourselves 2- Anyone who passes judgement (or makes fun of, or berates etc) on someone trying to better themselves is a real piece…

Yeah, I haven't used those at all, right from the beginning, I just added the fiber tracking column and did it myself. I like the %'s the script adds too.

Thanks for the heads up on the Greasemonkey script ! Very handy.

Not entirely sure about lifting routines for you, as I'm kind of looking myself. Many here recommend Stronglifts or The New Rules of Lifting For Women as a starting point. Both programs should have a built in progression. You can lose fat, and you can gain muscle, buuuuut you can't turn fat into muscle. As luck would have…

It is if you weigh and measure your foods accurately. If you arent weighing, it is still possible to be somewhat accurate, but very easy to underestimate.

Who exactly decides what we're "meant" to have ?
-
Beer and Chili.

I think it's the increase in protein and calories. I have found (for me personally) the BCAAs helped with my recovery quite a bit, though this was when I wasn't tracking my protein and was probably not getting near enough. More protein helps your muscles repair, more cals (may) give you more energy.

It does seem kind of low, considering your legs are the largest and strongest muscle group of the body. If it isn't hard to walk up or down stairs after you're done, you're probably not doing enough : )

Not one person has EVER been assaulted in Europe or Canada

Keep at it. About the best thing about starting out is if you stay serious for awhile, you can make some pretty good gains in the beginning. You'll feel great in a couple of months, when you're lifting a good deal more (not 2x as much or anything, but more than a 5 or 10 lb increase). As a beginner, your lifts are limited…

I'm going to have to disagree with you, somewhat. Diet Pepsi, does indeed suck. Wild Cherry Diet Pepsi trumps Cherry Diet Coke. Real Cherry Coke trumps all . . . . :)

I thought Pet Sematary was the worst of all of the crappy movie productions of SK books (not that they're all bad, but quite a few of them are huge disappointments). I thought "It" was alright, but it would be interesting to see a remake.

I would definitely say yes. If you can't stand meat, maybe beans, yogurt or more dairy may help.
