I too am getting back on track. This year has seen 20 additional pounds. I am recommit ting use the 5 day pouch test. 5dpt. I FIGURED THIS WILL HELP BREAK THE CARB CYCLE.

I use protein drinks as a go to. for 110 calories and 17 grams of protein, it curbs the hunger and helps me get that protein number higher. If I don't want a protein drink, I must not really be hungry. I am eating for other reasons.

I continue to weigh weekly. I have an eight pound maintenance range. 134 +/- 4 pounds. I call that the green zone. Anywhere in it is fine. It gives me some wiggle room and the ability to live my life without focusing too hard on the 'numbers"

I always round my height up and my weight down! Savor your victory. Great milestone.

You have done fabulously well. Keep up the good work. THose milestones may not mean much to those who have NOT been there, but to those of us who have, know being "just" obese or "just" overweight are wonderful accomplishments. You have given yourself a gift. You should be proud.

Loved to hear your story. You deserve the health and happiness you have. keep up the good work. Happy Anniversary.

February 20th 2012. RNY. At goal weight, feeling fabulous. The only regret. . . I should have done this 20 years ago. I am a normal healthy weight. I am physically active without all the pain. I am a size 6/8. Completely normal labs.

I've been diligently doing strength training and toning. That will only build muscle. For now, shapewear works okay. AS we get older the elasticity in our skin decreases. At 50+ I only have 2 options. LEarn to live with it, or plastic surgery. I will work with a surgeon to find what is best for me.

Late to the challenge. For between Thanksgiving and New Year's I hope to lose or maintain my weight while practicing balance and moderation in all that I do. Michelle

Good for you! I too have been hitting many, "now I can finally do that" milestones. Keep up the good work.

I've heard people mention the sneezing before. I just need to listen to my pouch. the signals are VERY subtle. The distance between satisfied and too much is very small.

You deserve to be proud. Enjoy your success.

Still Alice is a great book. We are dealing with AD in my family as well. My Step Dad is currently in a nursing home. He has been showing signs of the disease for the last 10 years, although he was not diagnosed until 7 years ago. He was not as young as 52. This is very sad. I urge you to get educated. Hire help as needed.…

NSV AND love from your teenager, all in one comment! Bonus!

For up to the first 70 pounds. "What have you done with your hair?" "I love your hairstyle! "" Did you change the color of your hair. " Now at 90 + pounds, in more revealing summer clothes. . ."I hate you, you are dead to me!", (in jest from an obviously jealous person), "Your face looks so thin" (What about my rear end?)…

Looking great. DO you have the full body post?

RNY 2/20/12 (4 months). Feeling great. Down 82 pounds (20 pre surgery). Feeling good.

I had GBS in February. I have travel constantly since surgery for a variety of business and personal events. It can be done. Don't make food the focal point of your events. Focus on the people and just use food to feed your body. The RTD protein drink is a great idea. I too, was guided to avoid starchy foods. Very few…

I am 10 weeks post op and life post RNY is wonderful. Lin, breaking barriers is terrific. I set little mental barriers all the time. My next one is "Onederland". Drmcclish - good luck on your upcoming surgery. Not only was I a snacker, I was a compulsive overeater doing a lot of binging. by 4 weeks post op, the cravings…

I am 7 weeks post op from my RNY. I feel GREAT! The 2-3 days post surgery was a little rough, but after that I was up and about and back to normal activity (a little slow) at 10 days. I am now back to all my activity and feel really good. The eating plan is work, but the surgery has made all those good choices easier to…

Congratulations to all the losers. What wonderful inspiration! You look wonderful.

Wild caught sockeye salmon (on sale at the grocery), Sweet potato, String beans.

Traci, I forgot. Are you pre or post surgery? Talk with your Dr and nutritionist. Meanwhile, get involved with something other than hanging out near food. Go for a walk, read, knit, etc.

Becky,, don't focus on the negative. Focus on the positive. On what IS working. You WILL see progress, just be a little patient. YOU CAN DO THIS! Michelle

TO get clarification on this issue, I just spoke with the dietician at my surgery center. My instructions from my doctor are very different than what I am reading hear. I've been told to eat ONLY when physically hungry and no more than 3 times per day. Gear my food choices to high protein, low carb, low fat. To eat only…

Fabulous milestone! Enjoy your success!

Hopefully the 6 months will be good for you. It will help your mindset get ready for lifelong changes, it will make your healthier to get into surgery. Just keep going. I had the good news/bad news scenario. Bad news, bariatric surgery was specifically excluded from my policy. The good news, no hoops to jump through. I…

Usually Tylenol. I was able to easily swallow an adult gel cap. I got migraines really bad after surgery. I ended up taking some prescription meds prescribed by the surgeon. They worked wonders. I went off the narcotics day 4. I think they were part of the headache problem.
