You need to be lifting weights to improve your arms and create definition, swimming will help but the weights will make more difference and get you teh arms you want. You just need some dumbbells and then do various forms of bicep curls, tricep extensions and press/pull downs. Don't just focus on the arms though as to make…

I'm a Personal trainer and I neither expect or receive tips. Most of my clients are on a private basis so they pay my fee and that's it. Some are through the gym I also work at were the gym charge them a fee and I receive a percentage of that. Under the arrangement with the gym I'm not allowed to accept gifts or tips. At…

I'm 54, my girlfriend is 33, we've been together 15 or so months. I broke the age/2+7 rule by one year. Mistake? :p

If you are holding onto the handles while you are on the treadmill you aren't working on it as hard as you think you are.  If you are holding on to the handles on the treadmill then it's no surprise to me that the bike and elliptical are showing a higher calorie burn but none of them are that accurate anyway.

There is actually 2 'Golden Rules' when it comes to this and they are very simple. Rule 1:- Do whatever works for you. Rule 2:- If you think are doing it in the wrong order because <Google/A friend/A guy with lots of certificates/That one guy with really bad form who grunts a lot while lifting weights which are too heavy…

This is the second most asked question from female clients. First, and most important, step to dealing with those flabby arms, bat wings or also called bingo wings here in the UK, happens in the kitchen and on your plate. If that bit isn't right then the other stuff won't work properly. Second part is resistance…

So 3000 today and around 1200 for the other days of the week means you are closer to somewhere near the right amount of calories over the 7 days for weight loss. Don't eat as low as 1200 and you are less likely to have days like this, days that aren't actually the end of the world on the scale of things.
-
It will depend on the effort far more than the distance. You could do that 5k in a low gear or with hardly any resistance and it won't really raise your heart date or cause you to break a sweat and it would take a long time for any effects to show, if they ever did. Do it with a high gear or plenty of resistance dialled in…

A fantastic and inspirational achievement. You look amazing and it is plain to see the sadness has gone from you eyes, heart and soul. Many, many congratulations.

A lot but often less than I consume some days now.

There is far more to consider than just the calories. I find that eating healthy since I started this journey 17 months ago has resulted in my food bills dropping dramatically. Fresh fruit and veg isn't that expensive, especially if you buy seasonal and you avoid the stuff that has been peeled, chopped, sliced or diced for…

Of course they can. I have more female friends than male friends and no issues at all. One of my best friends is female and she is also my weight lifting partner, we see each other every week day in the gym to workout and we do other things such as have coffee together but it's no different to any other friend male or…

Doesn't really qualify for the topic title but this is the then and now.

:noway: I want to make sure she's not a loony tunes who may tie me up and use me in an, err, umm, cough, uncomfortable way. I'll wait thanks.

My lifting partner is a woman. We've been lifting together for 7 - 8 months and when we started she weighed 121 pounds, she now weighs 123 pounds and looks slimmer than before. She is of course much more toned with some great definition than before she started lifting but does she look bulky or manly? Hell no, if anything…

I started C25K when I was still up toward 300lbs and having not done anything which could be described as running for about 30 years and I'm not going to say it wasn't a bit difficult at first but I took it slow, stuck with it and got it done and hit the 5k by the end of the 9 weeks. You can do it, just conquer your fear…
