I'm back after a few months' break. This challenge helps me a lot to get moving. My goal is 120km for May, 5km done up to now.

I'm in for December as well! I'll be on holidays for the 2nd half of the month, and although I plan to keep moving I may not be able to track it. So I'll aim for 60km until December 18 and if I can keep tracking, I'll update my goal. PS: Great job with the group, I love the setting!

total for November: 122.5km! I made it! :drinker:

Final post for October: 122.2km (goal was 100km)! :drinker: Good job everyone!

I reached my goal a couple days ago and didn't even realize it! I'm at 105.5km at the moment, perhaps I can hit 120 by the end of the month?

75.6km done up to now!

I just took a 2 week break while on holidays. I tried to to overdo it, but I ate whatever I felt like eating, drank a lot of alcohol and enjoyed the break from logging & counting calories. I only gained 1.2kg, which I lost in 2-3 days after I got back. I think it is great to take a break here and there. I have no idea…

A bit late, but I'm in for 100km this month. 5.5km done up to now.

50.2km done as of this morning! Yay, challenge completed for this month, I'm off to vacations in about 16hr! :drinker: Keep being great everyone!
-
43.5km up to now! Almost done for this month!

Great post, I need to read it more carefully in the evening. Thanks for posting it, I was wondering recently about that and how it affects the estimates of TDEE through the diaries.

23.4km done up to now!

Spontaneous bruising may indicate a medical condition. See your doctor.

I guess the real question is: does it bother you the way you are and look now? Do you really want to change? Ponder on that for a while. If you do want to change, then don't let the fear stop you. It's normal to be scared of any big change in our lives. It will also take quite some time to become "slim" as you put it, so…

I'm in for September again, but I'll only aim for 50km this time, that I'll hopefully be able to do until Sep 15. After that I'll be traveling and even though I'll be walking quite a bit, I'm not sure I'll be able to track it.

Hi everyone! I'm impressed and very much intimidated with everyone's experience here! I just started karate (ryuei-ryu), just *one* month ago, but I'm loving it and I'm trying to learn as much as I can as fast as I can. Which is quite a surprise for me, as I wasn't really interested in martial arts in the past. I moved to…

I didn't do much in August, I switched my focus to karate (which turned out to be a new obsession! ) Anyway, total is 115.1km (goal was 150km). Next month I'll aim for 100km, which I can probably do more easily.

A couple more questions: 1. Is it known if this unpredicted reduction of EE depends on parameters like duration of diet, deficit, years at initial (pre-diet) weight, initial weight & BF, age etc? And if yes, how? 2. If the recovery of the TDEE takes years to take place, how do diet breaks help? It looks like these are very…

Thanks, Evgeni, that's a lot of info you've given. More and more questions pop up in my mind but it's probably better to read these links carefully and digest them a bit first. But I've got to say this: isn't it fascinating when what happens in reality isn't what equations predict? That's the good stuff. Nature is always…

That's a great post, thank you for writing it! This whole "starvation mode" thing was always confusing to me. Are there any data whether this reduction in TDEE changes with time? (in terms of years I mean, assuming that the individual remains at the same level of leanness ETA: Also, another question: what is considered a…

I agree that it's much better to look up scientific papers directly than getting your information from newspaper articles, blogs, youtube etc, especially when searching for detailed information for professional use. And looking up papers has its own merits for your own understanding and expanding your knowledge. But, in my…

I think this sums it up very well

You're wrong. There are results that take many months or even years to obtain. They cannot be replicated before publication. Reviewers read the work, ask questions and clarifications but do not repeat (in general) the work. I'm actually supposed to finish a review tonight (which is why I'm procrastinating in here). I've…

Haha, I understand how the terms sound somewhat fishy, but they're pretty descriptive. Without getting into many details, I'll say a few words, just because I like this area so much. There is evidence from multiple sources that the mass in the universe is more than the mass we "see" through telescopes etc, i.e. there is…

Yes, it's true that technical work is not easily accessible to non-experts and that helps reducing the nonsense. To be honest, when I signed up here and saw people citing papers and took a look, I was shocked they were readable. I can't read papers in fields of physics that are different than mine, quite often not even…
