Update: 55.4km up to now, about 1/3 done. I'll try to stay on track this month.

Do you happen to have a source handy? I remember reading somewhere that non-heme iron absorption is around 2-3% and with vitamin C it gets up to 10-15%. A significant increase (3-5 times up!) but still the overall absorption is very low. Unfortunately I can't find that article now (so I hope I don't remember the numbers…

Final post for May - almost 165km done, 35 away from target. Still, I'm quite satisfied given that I didn't anything for almost 2 weeks.

I'm in. Going for 150km this time.

Great info, thanks for the overview! Adding this to my topics.

Ok, this month was so difficult for me, I didn't have time or motivation to do much. But over the past week I've been trying to catch up and even though there's no way I'll make it, I'm working hard to do as much as I can! Right now I'm halfway through and I hope I'll manage to do another 50km by the end of the week!

You look absolutely fantastic! I agree with your friends, you should already be celebrating! Happy birthday!

Runtastic counts calories even if you don't move (I once left it on overnight and had 2000+calories "burned"). And you're right, the slower you walk, the more calories per km it counts. Personally I use it to track my mileage but I don't pay much attention to the calories burned.

bump - I want this in my topics

Why not use a few online calculators for your TDEE, take an average and start from there? I get the impression that you tend to underestimate the calories you need and perhaps it's more difficult / will take more time if you slowly increase the % in the exercise calories. As for whether you're really in maintenance, the…

I was on travel for a week and even though I did quite a bit of walking I had no way to track it. But I hope I'll catch up by the end of the month. Up to now 35.7km done.

I'm not sure if there's much point after 20+ pages in this thread, but as someone who has done very boring and restrictive diets in the past (given by nutritionists, doctors, etc) and did manage to lose weight, but eventually gained it all (and even more) back, I found IIFYM liberating. Calorie counting on its own is…

Usually around 7h during the week and a bit more, maybe around 8 during the weekend. Over the past decade I used to regularly stay up all night to study or work or even watch movies. I can't do that any more though, I can feel my body can't handle it any more. Even with the 7-8 hours of sleep it often doesn't feel enough.

bump for later

I'm in again, and this time I'll challenge myself to an ambitious goal: 200km walking, jogging or biking. Let's see if I can do it!
-
Final post for April: 72.4 miles total! April was a good month! I won't be joining any more, this challenge was great for me to get me off the couch, but now I've got to challenge myself even more! Keep up the great work everyone!
-
Final April post: 192.7km done, well past my goal of 150km (and my secondary goal of 180!) It was a good month!

Boyle's law assumes that the number of atoms remains the same, which is not the case here. It is of course the case for the tires. emergencytennis, doesn't volume change as well? I'd agree with you if the container had a fixed volume, but in this case it is not obvious that temperature will change.

I reached my goal one week early! 156.9km total as of today! My lilyslim ticker doesn't let me go past goal, so I set up a new goal of 180 total by the end of the month:

Is this how the question is phrased? It's a bit weird. I don't think the balloon gets hotter, it just expands in size.

Exercise at home in the evening? Or joining a gym? I understand that you're busy, but the truth is you've got to find time. I was like that in the beginning (and still am sometimes). I thought it was impossible to join a gym, there was no way to find time for that. Now I treat it as one of my appointments and arrange…

Getting close! Did today c25k week 8 + bike
-
I did quite a bit yesterday, now I only have only 24km left - it looks like I'll reach my goal early this month!
-
Two thirds done

Great story & what a wonderful achievement! You look fantastic! Congrats!

Update:

I think I read somewhere once that old Cretans used to drink a wine glass of olive oil in the morning as breakfast, together with some rusk, to get them going during a hard day's work in the fields. I can't do it, but I don't think it's harmful either. You could also dip a slice of freshly baked bread into olive oil. That…

I also live in Japan. Losing weight definitely has its challenges here but for me it's mainly because it's more difficult to keep track of calories when you don't know how the food is prepared (or even called sometimes!). I do like the local food, but I try to cook most days so that I know what I eat. Is it possible to…

Just found this - I'm from Greece too although I've been living abroad for the past 5-6 years now.

I just did week 6 day 3 yesterday, but I think I'll do it once again tomorrow before moving onto week 7. I find it hard now, both mentally and physically. I need to make a good playlist - I start getting bored after a while. And I feel overheated after running, let's say, 15 minutes or so - I don't know what to do about…
