Great point! I hit a plateau in weight loss after 2-3 weeks...hoping for that muscle burning fat to kick in soon! :-)

:-) It is personal preference, but real hard to change if you decide something else in the future. I like the wait a year rule someone else suggested too.

We all benefit from support. I have been on MFP for a month and it has been a very positive experience. Feel free to send me a friend request :-) cheers Matt

You have a friend request

Thanks for starting the group! I think that having goals is absolutley critical. I have lost weight before, but always put it back on. I think my problem has been once I meet my goal, I go back to my old bad habits (eating way too much and eatign food because it tastes good!) Grrrr. This time is going to be different:…

Feel free to add me as well - we all need the support! Cheers, Matt

Welcome to MFP. You have a great attitude  You have to allow yourself some time to adopt new habits. The folks here are great. I have been on for a month and the support has been wonderful! Feel free to add me. Cheers, Matt

I have found, as others have commented, that eating right is so much more important in my 40s. I can't exercise quite as hard as I used to, so consistency is really key. I used to eat whatever I wanted and it was only calories that seemed to matter, but a now it is about getting enough protein and low fat to keep my energy…

Almost all mfp friends are virtual. They are supportive and friendly! That said, it does take time to build meaningful relationships - real or virtual. I have only been on a month, so I am sure some people will drop out and others will be less supportive, but if you get even a few good friends here, I think it is a real…

Good advice - it was the refined carbs/processed food that got me the big belly!

@Juwaack68 I hear you - when I have something fatty now it justs sits at the bottom of my stomach like a lead balloon

It took about 15 days to stop "Craving" the junk (cookies, candy). However, I still want to eat too much, but my body is better at telling me when I am FULL. Portion control was probably my biggest challenge (no more large pizzas at one sitting!). I still have a burger (lean Angus made at home), but no fries. I still have…

No cheating - only CHOICES You can eat whatever you want, but log it and know how it fits into your BALANCED diet before you stuff in you mouth. I am saying this a someone who has been a lifelong binger. If i don't track what I eat and make good choices, I will eat a box of cookies or a dozen donuts because they taste…

Fanatastic one year transformation - my inspiration! <edit - can't type to save my life LOL>

You have a great philosophy: "I did NOT diet. I changed the way I lived my life." That is the same journey I am on - diets don't work, only healthy living and smart choices!

You have a great smile :-)

Kayla, You've got the right attitude (and sense of humor!) - please feel free to add me  Cheers, Matt

Welcome! I have been on MFP for 25 days and it has been great! Didn't expect to use more than the calorie counter, but the social supprot has been a real help. Please feel free to add me  Matt

Stacy, I added you too. Most of us can use all the support and MFP friends we can get. Others - Please feel free to add me too  Cheers, Matt

@oceans forever - yes, I find that good planning is the only thing that keeps me out of trouble :-)

No change in weight after the initial drop, but I am eating better and consistently healthy size portions.

I learned I can't cheat. I can earn anything I want, but I gotta pay in calories or exercise! Problem for me is that cheating opens the door to bad habits. My problem is not the cheating per se, but the dubious calorie counting (OK, denial) that goes on afterwards. That said, we should all feel great about earning a treat.…
