  • take into consideration HOW they lose it before worrying if it will happen to you. Did they have a "diet" mentality and then go back to their old habits? Did they do a silly quick fix program that isn't healthy and sustainable (ie - Atkins?). Did they drop too much weight too fast? Was healthy eating and healthy exercise…
  • That happened to me just after my son was born. You can certainly become intolerant of foods - and since you've been mostly vegan and are occassionally reindroducing an animal product into your diet, that could be a cause as well. Good luck.
  • Be careful you are not becoming exercise-obsessed. Over doing it working out is just as unhealthy for your body as over eating. 5+ hrs per day of working out when you're not a professional athlete can be very damaging to your body.
  • On a baked potato, or tortilla or tostada shell, topped with lettuce, onions, and hot sauce - almost like a taco!
  • I started out vegetarian as well - for health reasons. Then after doing a lot of reading and research, learned the truth about factory farming in general, and was just horrified. Transitioning to vegan from vegetarian - after learning that - was not difficult at all.
  • Hi guys. Here are my stats this week! CSW: 153 LWW: 151 CW: 150 LO: 1 TLO: 3
  • Happy Cow for sure! I always bring a blender ball and some Vega One and Amazing Grass with me to be sure I always have something available. Granola, seeds, and small hummus packs are always good too. It helps resist the urge to pick up junk food! Good luck, and enjoy your trip.
  • Awesome! I'm only a month in too. We also did sumo dead lift high pulls on Monday. Rx was 55. I only did 42#. What matters is we're out there doing it!
  • have you tried taking measurements, and not JUST looking at the scale? Muscle weighs more than fat, and the needle not moving doesn't mean you're not reshaping your body.
  • sounds like a gluten intolerance. Not everything is an allergy (like Celiac's)...but sensitivies can be just as debilitating. Qunioa noodles are yummy, and I really like the brown rice ones too. Best advice I can offer? Cut gluten out for a few weeks, and then slowly add it back in to see how you feel. You'll know soon…
  • 1 - exercise related headaches are very often related to hydration. Be sure you are well hydrated before, during, and after workouts. Depending on the duration and intensity (like a run lasting more than 45 minutes), you may need to have an electrolyte replacement - like Gu - mid workout. 2 - I am a large chested woman…
  • Chesapeake!
  • feel free to add me too! I'm new (started in early May), but an addict already. It pushes me like I've never been pushed before, and the support of the CF community is the best. Not like you can go to a globo gym, lift some weights, and have other people come and cheer you on!
  • CSW: 153 LWW: 152 CW: 151 LO: -1 TLO: -2 On another positive note, I redid my measurements. Since beginning this challenges, I've lost 6 inches!
  • That's awesome! Today's was hard for me. Starting on the road of muscle-ups! We did: 4 rounds of: 10 hand release push ups 400 m runs 10 pull-ups 10 dips. That was the newbie WOD. Double the reps for the people who've done this a bit. Took me 20:15....oy. someday, I'll get better at this!
  • First of all, great job on today's diary. You're making steps in the right direction for sure. If you cut too much too soon, your body will go through detox and you'll feel lousy for several weeks. I agree with everyone here - cut down slowly. Find simple replacements and take baby steps. Find non-processed food…
  • Woo hoo - look at those workouts! I'm hitting up a noon class today: 4 Rounds for Time: 20 hand-release push ups 800m run 5 muscle ups Cash Out: KB Windmills - 30 each side
  • Having an active buddy here on MFP has been great (brilliant idea, whoever posted that!). I don't want to let HER down, and I've noticed a difference in my attitude overall. I'm running, doing crossfit, and hot yoga. Eating is great, though I need to put more time into prepping to be sure all my meals are balanced. Also -…
  • Any of the books by Ani Phyo are great. I also ordered Raw Food Made Easy from Amazon about a year ago and still love it!
  • chana dal chili, served on a corn tortilla and topped with tons of chopped veggies.
  • My advice would be to just be honest - but not preachy about it. My family was not supportive of me when I became a vegetarian in college, and even though that was a long time ago (and I became vegan 6 yrs ago), they are very supportive now. It can be shocking when you're not brought up that way. I find that meat eaters…
  • Hi Ann! My husband has Crohn's, so I feel your pain. One thing I highly suggest is juicing. A smoothie still contains the fiber of the foods, but with a juicer, you get all the nutrients - minus the fiber. Much safer for you. I don't know about UC, but for my husband, he can't have nuts, seeds, corn, popcorn, or any…
  • Unfortunately, I've been really sick the past week. I didn't gain...but I didn't lose either. Thankfully this week is back on track with my running, crossfit, and hot yoga. Hope to see a big jump next week! CSW: 153 LWW: 152 CW: 152 LO: 1 TLO: 1
  • Hi Sam, I do use google. My email is runcrissierun@gmail.com Thanks for doing this!
  • Quick comment. Under the column Lost This Week, everyone's weight loss is equal to their starting weight...so it looks like everyone weighs 0 lbs! Don't know if it's individual user error or something with the sheet, but thought I'd point it out.... Thanks! Crissie
  • What a great idea! I'm 38 yrs old, and my total weight loss goal is 40 lbs. I'd like to lose 30 during this challenge. My primary workout methods are running and crossfit, though I occassionaly do hot yoga or swim also.
  • Hi I'm Crissie and I've been vegan for 5 years. I was an unhealthy vegetarian before that. Since becoming vegan, I've learned and embraced more of the animal activism drivers for veganism, so not only is my diet vegan, but my lifestyle as well (no leather, no products with honey or lanolin, etc), and I love it. I am the…
  • Yesterday was yard work, and today I went for a run (doing the 5K101 plan) and did a crossfit WOD (20 rounds of 5 push-ups, 5 squats, 5 sit-ups) for time. Going to spend the rest of today prepping my healthy meals and snacks for the week!
  • Hi, I'm Crissie. I started running about 6 years ago as a way to reduce some significant life stres. It worked, and in the process, I found health and a love of running events. I ran my first (and only ) marathon in Chicago in 2010. And then took a break from running (felt like a chore, and not a joy anymore). After a year…
  • I just started Crossfit in May. Holy cow, it's tough, but I love it! Just got my WOD book, and am looking forward to watching my strength and endurance improve!
