  • I'm sorry you can't make it. I hope all goes well with your surgery! The Firemen's 5K sounds fun! I'll look into that one, too! Thanks for the info!
  • I LOVE these! I'm so stealing them!
  • Wow, look at what you've accomplished so far with little to no support at home. That says a lot about your own internal strength and dedication! It stinks that your husband is not there for you, but you've proven that while you'd prefer him to be, you don't really need him to be on board with you in order to do this. You…
  • Wow! Look at you! That's awesome! Good luck on the rest of your journey!
  • Fantastic progress! Congratulations and keep up the good work!
  • I'm sorry that happened to you. Internet or not, mean people suck. There is nothing helpful or productive that comes from being mean. Ultimately I try to remember that their attitude is more about them and where they are in life than it is about me, but that's not always easy to do. Keep your chin up! There will always be…
  • What a great way to honor your dad. I lost my dad in July, but I think of him every time I cook at home because he hated eating out. He swore pizza was the downfall of all America with regard to health. ;) Here's to daddies and the inspiration we get from them. :drinker:
  • I love my Polar. It has the chest strap. They have several models. You might look into that brand and see if it's what you want. I bought mine at my gym (Lifetime Fitness). The one I have can be set up for "zone" training, which I love. It counts calories and probably does a ton of other stuff I'm not even aware of.
  • I feel your pain, only I wouldn't say it pisses me off as much as it disappoints me. I guess it's like any other "friendship" or relationship, sometimes it's lop-sided. I didn't delete the no-shows on my friends list, but I've stopped acknowledging them. It does take time to look at the diary and make honest, encouraging…
  • OMG, are we related!!?? Your experience is exactly something that would happen to me (and actually has), and I swear I have reacted in exactly the same way! My son now works in a grocery store and I HOPE he's not like that, especially since he's seen me twist off about such things. I have no words of wisdom, just wanted to…
  • May God bless you and your family with strength and comfort, and may He work through those in charge of your granddaughter's care so that they may heal her body as He heals all our wounds. Amen. God bless you all.
  • What an amazing story of dedication and accomplishment! You look amazing and I can only imagine how much better you FEEL, both physically and probably mentally knowing that you have accomplished something so important to you! You're strength and commitment is inspiring and proves that if we really want it, it can be done.…
  • ^^Regarding that: Actually, weight gain is a documented side effect, but I'm not going to get into all the chemical reasons why. Regarding the OP, I do feel your pain. I was on antidepressants for over 10 years. It didn't matter how hard I tried, I could not keep the weight off without feeling like I was starving all the…
  • Hi Nyx! I'm an old lady compared to you, but feel free to add me if you'd like. I've totally been where you are and I can tell you that with support and dedication you can find what you're looking for. Good luck!
  • It sounds like his main concern was not much the logging but the calorie counting itself, as in he thinks you need more, so stop counting for now. You could still log your food, and like so many have said it would be good to track your nutrients and get in some healthy foods. Also, for the sores in your mouth, try taking…
  • I can understand why your feelings would be hurt. You want her to be happy for you. You want her to notice the effort! The truth is, no one can MAKE us feel something that isn't already in us. I'm wondering if you have a tendency to judge yourself harshly. When we have trouble being proud of ourselves, then every time…
  • Same here! Pretty funny!
  • I don't know you, but I LOVE YOU! OMG, this site is so much easier! I've been doing math for 3 days trying to figure this out! You ROCK! THANK YOU!
  • ^^^ HIIIII JULIE! Allison, I'm also a member of the AR club and also doing C25K to prepare for a Mother's Day 5K. I am finishing my first week of training tomorrow. I think the only reason I hate running is b/c it's hard! I've never been good at it, but always wanted to be. I love exercising outside--not really a…
  • As others have suggested, it sounds like counseling could be very helpful, whether that's marriage (couples) counseling, or individual counseling just for yourself. A good counselor will be able to hear your struggle and your pain and help you (and your husband if you choose couples counseling) to come to a decision about…
  • Dear Lord, I pray for a6ftdiva, that she shall be strong in spirit, and for her father, that he may receive your blessing through the gift of life from another of your servants. Send peace to this family and hold them in Your Love. Amen.
  • First, I just have to laugh because that rant was d*** funny! Second, I hear you. I have seen both good ones and bad ones at various gyms over the years. I've only hired 2--one was a dingbat and the other was good but I couldn't afford to keep going. I think like with everything else you have to trust your instincts. Not…
  • Good for you! I was never a diet soda fan (except for Fresca), but I was up to 3 regular cokes a week for a while. I cut out all bubbly drinks (except for sparkling water) about 3 months ago. I've only missed it once and that's when I was feeling sick. I used to love a good cold Coke when my stomach hurt. Club soda has…
  • ^That made me laugh. I think I understand why some women wouldn't want male friends, I'm just not one of them. I never considered excluding anyone, but my husband did notice me responding to a post one night and said, "Who's Larry!?" I had to laugh because we've been married almost 7 years and only now (that I'm…
  • That's wonderful progress! You are getting there! Congratulations!
  • ^This, with a minor in Early Childhood Education. Went back for a Masters in Counseling and currently working on Doctoral in Counselor Education, but the real question is, what to YOU want to do? ;)
  • The mango salsa is AWESOME on tilapia with the avacado! I love it that way. We eat a lot of fish. I make a mexican seasoning that's basically a mixture of cumin, red pepper, chili powder, and a little oregano. I use a little olive oil (just a thin brush across the bottom of the dish), lay the fish on, coat with the…
  • Welcome! We're never too old for friends! Feel free to add me if you'd like. :flowerforyou:
  • Hi P! Welcome back! I've only been on MFP for about 3 weeks, but I've stayed motivated by other members, especially my new MFP friends. Feel free to add me if you'd like. Good luck to you!
  • Look at you! That's awesome! Congratulations!
