Hi team, I'm not really new but trying to get back on the horse! I lost a bunch of weight with MFP in my twenties and it's slowly but surely all crept back. I've just turned 40 and am really keen to get back in shape. I'd be really grateful for anyone who can remind me to log and reinforce me for logging and exercise; that…

Hey I'm Matt from New Zealand. Have been on here for a while but getting back into MFP after a very calorific holiday in the States! Feel free to add me :)

The numbers don't sound right. According to the MFP database, the macros for 100g of Mr. Park Express Cup are: Fat 5.4g Protein 4.9g Carbohydrate 28.8g kcal 147 There are 4kcal per gram of protein or carbohydate, and 9kcal per gram of fat. 5.4*9+4.9*4+28.8*4 = 183kcal, not 147. I'd also be skeptical about the fact that the…

I know all about Cream-Filled Deep-Fried Goodness Town. Also happy to make new friends!

Hi you all! Awesome to see that someone finally set up a volley group :D I play beach most days in summer, and play middle in indoor.

Thanks, I'll check out Strong Lifts. Having a proper programme might be a good idea for me, I tend to be a bit disorganised in terms of what I actually do at the gym!
-
Thanks! I do lift a bit, but struggle to find enough time for it at the moment (maybe 2-3 times a week). I probably need to spend a bit more time on that. I also do track training and hill sprints once a week (great way to start a weekend :D ) Thanks for the good wishes!

What exactly is a "food chemical"? Water is a chemical. So are iron and potassium. Even protein, fats and carbohydrates are chemical compounds. Do you avoid all of them too?

Isagenix and similar "cleanses" are absolute nonsense, sorry. Don't waste your money. http://www.sciencebasedmedicine.org/isagenix-study-is-not-convincing/

I'm up near Coatesville, feel free to add me!

The best thing you can do if you're interested in aspartame safety is to look at the actual evidence. There have been lots of peer reviewed studies on aspartame safety. You can find papers yourself by searching on www.scholar.google.com - which is like regular Google, except for scientific papers. Here are some examples:…

There really is no such thing as 100% accurate measurement (of anything). Even measurements in scientific experiments have some quantity of measurement error (even if it's tiny in some fields). The best you can do is choose the measurement device that likely has the least error. For ellipticals I'd usually go with the…

I'm still in the 20 something category, though 30 is starting to feel perilously close.... :p Feel free to add me (anyone)!

I'm another daily logger, add me if you'd like, more friends always welcome :)
-
Welcome! I agree with skinnyme47 that having friends here really helps, so this post is a great start - getting immediate positive reinforcement from friends for eating and exercising well is (imo) a big part of what makes MFP work. Feel free to add me :)

Thanks so much for this. I'm also a big drinker of diet soda, but recently found out that soda contains high doses of the deadly chemical dihydrogen monoxide. Crystal methamphetamine sounds like a great alternative. Where can I find a local retailer of this wonderful product?

Hi all, I'm a 28yo postgrad student. I grew up in Cape Town but now live in Auckland over on the other side of the world! I still love South African food and shout for the Boks and the Proteas, though, so hope that it's cool for me to join :)

I think the study the OP might be talking about is this one: A Comparison of the Effects of Three GM Corn Varieties on Mammalian Health http://www.biolsci.org/v05p0706.htm I've only read the abstract though, so I don't have much to say about this yet.

Keep in mind that olive oil has just as much fat in it as any other oil. This is the case regardless of whether it's described as extra virgin, "extra light", or whatever - these terms don't have anything to do with the fat content, they just describe flavour and colour differences. Olive oil has got arguable health…

My regular brekkie is half a cup of raw oats, half a cup of milk, and 2 or 3 chopped dates. It's quick, tasty, and gives me plenty of energy (though it's no good for those of you avoiding carbs I guess!)

Welcome, feel free to add me :)

Hiya, my name's Matt. I'm a postgrad student in Auckland. I'm at a desk all day, but like to get out and exercise when I can - I play volleyball and have been getting into tramping lately. Would be great to make some more friends on MFP. SW: 92kg CW: 90kg GW: 81kg
