  • While I don't particularly care for vegetables, I can't STAND chunky vegetables in anything. Ick. I like my veggies to be diced. Yeah, I know it's weird, but I think it's because then I don't have to have a HUGE nasty flavor in my mouth. (I do like stir-fried broccoli and broiled asparagus though.)
  • Quite awhile ago, I had dropped 3-4 sizes when working out at the gym. When I finally weighed myself, I had lost SIX pounds. Seriously. I was big into weights though, so I had gained some muscle weight while dropping fat. It all just depends on YOUR body. I don't think there's a generic "Lose 10 pounds and drop one pants…
  • The contestants are definitely wearing compression garments towards the end of the show. You can pretty much see this through the tank tops/t-shirts. Whatever they are wearing on the lower half is also compression garments. That really holds in the extra skin... ask me how I know. ;-) I mostly have extra skin on my upper…
  • My light bulb moment was when both knees were acting up so badly that I almost didn't make it to the bathroom because I couldn't walk. Also, it was so hard to walk a 1/4 mile hallway at my previous job that I'd park my car over by the closest entrance so that I didn't have to walk so far. Our office was at one end of a…
  • I think I am going to get a new tattoo. I found a really nice one that has dog paw prints walking away and the words "I'll never walk alone". This would serve a dual purpose: 1) A memorial to my standard Schnauzer, who I miss every day; and 2) I absolutely love walking. (And walking with my dogs is way more fun than…
  • Well.... if I had a "whole body lift" to get rid of the surplus skin, I think I'd be about at my goal weight. (Thankfully the surplus is craftily hidden under my clothes.) I'm guessing it probably weighs in at 15-20 pounds. I'm pretty happy right now at being able to wear a loose size 14, snugger size 12. While my weight…
  • So... I seriously thought this post was going to be about landscaping "down there" and how some people start doing this after they've lost some weight.
  • Oh yeah, and I invested in a heavy duty sewing machine so that I could easily hem my jeans. At 5'5", I've got a 30" inseam. It's pretty rare to come across used petite pants. I also forgot that I've bought clothing lots on eBay. You know, a box of 10 used shirts for $20, etc. We used to have a plus size consignment store…
  • Definitely thrift stores or consignment stores for me. I *love* not paying retail. I recently got a pair of Chico's platinum jeans for $4.99 and they don't even look like they've been worn. Thankfully the job I just started in December is a wear-what-you-want software company. (Jeans, shorts, etc. - just no swimsuits.)
  • Well... time is going to pass anyhow, so you might as well just do it! :) (That's what motivates me to get something done.)
  • Take it one day at a time.
  • For me, back when I had a uterus, I used to easily gain 5+ pounds of water weight around the time of my period. Easily. My weight has stayed the same for awhile, but I've been dropping sizes. I walk every day. My Fitbit Flex goal is 5000 steps, but I tend to shoot for 7000 steps (to earn 60 points with Virgin Pulse). I…
  • Way back, before I had lost my weight, I used to get SO tired during the day. Horribly tired. I had been reading an article in a magazine and they had a list of sleep apnea symptoms. I made a note of the symptoms and when I saw my doctor at an upcoming appointment, I mentioned all of this and requested a sleep study be…
  • Have you asked your doctor? I would call or ask an e-question to the doctor's nurse. (Does your healthcare provider use Epic? If so, they probably have the online MyChart where you can send in questions.)
  • I think a meal here or there of what you really want to eat is good for you. The goal of losing weight isn't deprivation. I have pizza pretty much every week, sometimes more than once, but I only need a slice or two - not the whole pizza. Or an egg salad sandwich. YUM! I still eat Cheetos with a sandwich or hot dog, but I…
  • I absolutely LOVED my CPAP machine. Poor thing is now in the basement as I don't need it anymore. I can't answer your question as they didn't tell me to bring it with me for my surgery. I would have brought if I had known. I'm sure I would have slept SO much better during my overnight stay.
  • I like Syntrax Matrix Milk Chocolate (or any of the chocolates). I make the shake at 6 am and drink it while getting ready for work. (One scoop Syntrax, one scoop Big Train Fit Frappe Mocha, a tablespoon of sugar free chocolate pudding, a teaspoon stevia, four ice cubes, 8 ounces light soy milk or skim milk, and 4 ounces…
  • Also, make sure you are logging ALL that you are eating, binge or no binge. Now THAT is a real eye-opener. The "dieting" wagon is pretty easy to fall off of if you are restricting yourself from eating certain foods. I've had pizza every Sunday night. Granted, one slice, but I'm still at least eating it. I'm not sure what…
  • I *LOVE* my Fitbit Flex. It totally motivates me to get out there!! Well, that and I like to walk. I like knowing where I am with my step goal by tapping the Flex and seeing how many of the LEDs light up. (Each of the five lights represents 20% of your goal.) I REALLY like it when the Flex vibrates when I've hit my goal. I…
  • I sure wish we had "Like" buttons for posts like this. :)
  • Well.............. I may not be skinny, but I already AM freaking awesome!! :) Edited to keep this on topic - I was going to actually post a response to the OP but I forgot all about it when I was posting the awesome comment. Definitely just "do it". I absolutely totally understand what you are saying though. It's hard to…
  • After I had my surgery, I could not STAND my normal body smells. I switched to Dial antibacterial body wash and that totally took care of this. 100%!! This comes in a few scents too.
  • Don't get too attached to any articles of clothing because eventually they will be too big and you'll have to donate them. (On the positive side, it's a lot of fun to buy smaller sizes!!)
  • I LOVE my Yurbuds! I use these when walking the hallway at work. I like that I can still hear all of the noise around me so that I am not startled by someone. Best Buy recently had the hot pink ones on clearance on their website for around $14.
  • My chiropractor had cautioned me to start with a 4 lb kettlebell and to not swing higher than my shoulders for at least 4-6 weeks when I mentioned that I was going to try working out with one. For ME, he also said to not go over 10 lbs.
  • My chiropractor has suggested that I roll out my IT band to help strengthen my knees, particularly my left knee. DANG! It hurts so bad to roll it out. So then I had my husband roll it out for me. I laid on the floor and he rolled the firm foam roller. While it was still as painful, it was easier. When I mentioned it to my…
  • Buying new underwear!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :) My "old" underwear, which were only a few months old, no longer stayed up. I took my dogs for a walk last week or so, and my undies were only held up by the crotch of my sweatpants. And... my sweatpants were too big too. To get the crotch in the "right" spot, I had to pull them up to…
  • Even though you might not have food poisoning, it could be that the fish was "off". Sometimes it doesn't have to taste bad to be bad.
  • Have you had a check up lately? Feeling extremely exhausted could be sleep apnea or something else like rheumatoid arthritis, fibromyalgia, lupus, etc. Before I lost my weight, I had to use a CPAP machine for sleep apnea. Although it also runs in my family as my skinny uncle and skinny aunt (my mom's siblings) both have…
  • Most of my coworkers don't say anything, but for those that have, it has just been a very polite observation. Like "You are so disciplined with what you eat!" That was when a big group of us had gone to Olive Garden and I ordered a little plate of something from a placard on the table. It was only $3.50 (and it came with…
