  • My personal rule to encourage me to drink more fluids is that I have to drink a glass of water before I can crack open a diet soda.
  • I don't think asking the request is out of line, provided that it was approached as a "Would it be okay if..." or some other way of politely asking. However, since it is her home, her reply is the final answer. Although if someone were staying with me and requested this, I'd comply. Even if it is to just put it on the…
  • Okay, so... my hubs wouldn't even read the book. And... I decided Marla's DASH Diet Weight Loss Solution book fit with my eating style better. He's going to read the Kindle version of the book and we are going to be incorporating this into our lifestyle. (Being able to have wine occasionally is a plus for me.) LOL There…
  • Nope. I've turned over my closet several times... and donated my clothes to Goodwill, etc. Granted, I also buy a lot of nice clothes from thrift stores.
  • Yesterday I did 2+ segments from the Mix & Match DVD. I had about 2400 steps left to hit my 7000 goal. I did the warm-up segment, the dance segment, and then part of the cool-down segment. I typically just walk a hallway at work 2x for 15 minutes each and then take the dogs for a walk if the weather is decent. They are…
  • You should check out Melissa Joulwan's Well-Fed and Well-Fed 2 cookbooks. Her recipes are all Whole30 compliant. (No soy, dairy, gluten, legumes, added sweeteners (natural or artificial).) Not that you are limited with some of those items though. Or, you should check out Russ Crandall's cookbooks. His might be more up your…
  • Kleen kanteen makes awesome insulated bottles. I have had ice floating in it after sitting in an unattended car for 6 hours in 90 degree weather. Not sure how hot it was INSIDE the car.
  • Hmmmm... I just made some today. The hubs really likes them. I don't think I'd ever have a craving for them. I mean, they aren't bad, but I'm a chocoholic. :)
  • Hey gals! My challenge is to walk 100 miles this month, indoors and/or outdoors. I currently walk at least 30/minutes indoors during the work week. I take two 15-minute walks at work plus take my two dogs for a 20-minute jaunt around the neighborhood after work, weather-permitting. I think I'm going to start adding in a…
  • Leslie had a blog post on MFP last July and said to use "aerobic, general" to record it. Or you can use "low impact aerobics". To me, it seems like "low impact" is probably more accurate since we aren't really bouncing around, etc. The main reason I like Leslie's workouts are because they ARE low impact.
  • Not sure if you are aware of this, but there's also a Leslie Sansone group that you can join on MFP: http://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/group/335-leslie-sansone-walk-at-home
  • Thanks for the info! I just pre-ordered it. :)
  • Here is the blog post from Leslie: https://blog.myfitnesspal.com/7-get-started-walking-tips-from-leslie-sansone/
  • Leslie Sansone has mentioned on a blog post here at MFP that you can use the "aerobics, general" choice when logging exercise here at MFP. Granted that isn't going to be as accurate as a heart rate monitor, as amayitux suggested. The calories burned as listed on MFP or any website are just guidelines based on your height…
  • Just make sure to log it correctly. There are "cooked" and "uncooked" options to choose from. By the way, you can quickly thaw out chicken if you put it in a sealed plastic bag and then put it in a bowl of water.
  • Does the restaurant do any "special requests"? I rarely ever order something straight off a menu. Maybe you could "make" your own meal by specifying exactly what you can eat when you place your order. My workplace occasionally orders in from one of the sandwich shops. I typically order a certain sandwich and then scrape…
  • I buy Trident bubble gum by the case. Literally. I can go through a pack in a day. It keeps my sweet tooth satisfied. (I don't blow bubbles because it would probably annoy my co-workers.)
  • I'm definitely a walker. :) Now that the weather has warmed up, snow has melted, and the roads are dry, I love taking my dogs out for a long walk after work. (Plus my two 15-minute walks during the work day.) My husband lovingly refers to the dog walk as a "death march". Although that's probably because he'd just as soon…
  • I've had sporadic problems with my Fitbit syncing. I think it is more on Fitbit's side than anything. My Fitbit wasn't syncing correctly with another site either.
  • I think Fitbit has had a few issues. I also sync my FitBit Flex with Virgin Pulse. This past week there have been issues with my steps syncing to VP. I've had issues with my calories and steps syncing with MFP. (I guess I got spoiled when things synced almost immediately.)
  • I found this by googling "Calories burned T25"... http://www.t25calories.com/ Sounds like you will need to set up your own exercise here on MFP.
  • The steps show for me on the "Check-in" page on the MFP website and on the Home page for the Android app.
  • I have silent alarms set on my Fitbit Flex for 9:30 am and 2:00 pm. I have a timer app on my phone to count down from 15 minutes. I walk back and forth in a hallway outside our offices. (There are three businesses in one building, with common hallways.) If I am not running errands over lunch, I might walk another 15-30…
  • To add your own food items, you still have to search the database, but then scroll down below the "matching food items" box and you'll see "Can't find what you're looking for? Add a food to the database" Choose the link. It will bring you to this page: myfitnesspal.com/food/submit?. Any foods that you add will show up…
  • I always add my own food to my database. I also add recipes too to figure out the nutritional data per serving.
  • Check out this post on how to add a WW Points column to MFP: http://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/822197/how-to-track-weight-watchers-points-on-mfp/p16
  • This is also a really good one: Leslie Sansone: Mix & Match Walk Blasters. I have several of hers, although now I also do Hip Hop Abs & Zumba Gold.
  • I don't see the Express workouts at good prices, but this one has five 1-mile walks. You can do 1 mile every day. Leslie Sansone: Walk at Home - 5 Day Slim Down - A Mile Each Morning
