The DASH Diet Younger You book is primarily plant-based. The book is by Marla Heller.

Triggers for me are candy and cookies. We just don't have them in the house. Oh, and ice cream. We keep 40 calorie sugar free Fudgesicles in the freezer that work great as a replacement. (One of those takes care of the "want".)

Microwaved with a couple of scoops of french vanilla ice cream. No, seriously though, microwaved. :)

Yep... anything cited from "Dr. Oz" is pretty much a "nay" in my book.

I get a headache if I wear glasses while exercising. I think it's the whole sweating thing and trying to keep the darn things on. Eyeglasses... and sunglasses when I am wearing my contacts.

I met my now-husband on Match.com 12 years ago. We'll be celebrating our 10th anniversary in July.

Just for reference 5 kilograms = 11 pounds. It could be an adjustment isn't warranted?

I really like the Zumba Gold DVD. For me, I liked the pace and that it is low impact. And it is still a great workout for your abs. (I'm not a senior yet, I've got just under 20 years for that.)

Yep, I say "ditto" to everyone else. I know I used to gain around 5-7 pounds right before my period showed up. (Got those parts yanked March 2014. Yippee!) As kelseymallen stated, high sodium the day before will also do this. Additionally, if you are constipated this will also add some weight.

The hubs and I are going to be following Marla Heller's newest Dash book: Dash Diet Younger You. It's still based off the original dash diet but limits red meat. It's more plant-based. There are meal plans for vegetarians and non-vegetarians. This book is basically suggesting cleaner eating with less processed foods and…

How about snapping a photo of your plate of food and then logging it in the evening? It's better than trying to "remember". I'm well out of school and smartphones didn't exist. Heck, portable cell phones didn't really exist. (Unless it was contained in a bag.) :)

There are also different "versions" of the DASH diet. Marla Heller has written three books. The first one is basically the original DASH diet. The next version "DASH Diet for Weightloss" is a lower carb version. The most recently released book is something like "DASH Diet Younger You" which is a mostly vegetarian version.…

I used CalorieKing to figure out how many calories to consume to lose weight based on your weight, age, and height (and sedentary) and it estimated between 1650-1850 calories. I would suggest going by what your dietitian gave you. Most likely it is still less than what you were eating prior to starting on your bariatric…

Compression clothing. When you hold up the pants or shirt, you'll wonder, "How the heck will I get THIS on." It's kind of like Spanx, but for exercisers. :) I went from 338 to 180 and love wearing them. Old Navy has them as well as more "elite" brands.

If I didn't have an audio book to listen to while walking back and forth in a hallway at work for 15 minutes, twice a day, I'd go bonkers. A really good book series (well, 2-1/2 books) is "Until the End of the World". If you like zombies, that is. It's kind of like "The Walking Dead". Those fifteen minutes just FLEW by.…

Well... you could record it now. Then weigh yourself in another week and record that number. I guess I'm not into the whole "stuffing yourself" at a Thanksgiving thing. My goal is to maintain over Thanksgiving. :)

To find a sweet non-shedding small female rescue dog. :) We've already had a home inspection visit from the rescue group we are working with and passed with flying colors. Particularly after she saw our fantastic doggy door and custom ramp that the hubs built, plus our large fenced in yard. Oscar, our 7 year old Shih…

I totally agree! MFP and FB are best combo ever!! :) (I have the Flex.)

I just wish the Vivofit had the ability to set a vibrating alarm. I need that to jolt me into action during the day to take my walks.
-
Pages 4 and 5 on this topic discuss what information comes into MFP from the Shine: http://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/1081275/misfit-shine-and-myfitnesspal/ I need to try to figure out why MY data isn't coming in though.
-
I believe that 100 points is about 1000 steps. I really wish the Misfit would let me set a step goal. Well, and I wish it let me set an alarm that would vibrate. (AND... I also don't see any info from the Misfit coming into MFP.)

I agree with the others. Get some pepper spray, etc., and a big package of Post-It notes so you can leave a note of where you are headed. :) I make the Hubs leave me a note or send me an email when he's going out on the motorcycle. He typically has a destination in mind when he heads out. If I am going with him, I send my…

I went from a 50C to a 36DD. :)

I had the sleeve surgery done two years ago and have absolutely NO problems with it at all. :)

Bootcut jeans are out of fashion? I love my bootcut Levi's 515!!

I don't have an "official" stop time for eating. Unless we are having ice cream "later", I typically don't eat anything after supper, which is normally around 6 pm. (If we are having ice cream, that's usually at 8 pm.) Bed time is around 9-9:30. And the blasted alarm goes off at 5 am.

Way to go!!!!! I had a lady stop me one aisle over to tell me "Good job on passing by the candy." I had been standing in the candy aisle looking it all over, shook my head, and kept going. Apparently she saw the whole conversation I had with myself. LOL

I would recommend that you talk to your doctor or a physical therapist to get the best answers.

Hmmmm... I hear from a lot of the women who work in the same building as me that they wish they were as dedicated as I am. I walk 15 minutes twice day in a hallway outside the different businesses. Back and forth, back and forth. However no one else has started doing this. Kind of funny, but I was walking one day (in the…

I just celebrated the two-year mark for my sleeve surgery. :) I'm holding pretty steady at around 180, give or take a couple of pounds. I went from a size 32 to size 12. I had absolutely NO complications. 180 was my ultimate goal. I think if I had my excess skin removed, I'd probably lose another 15-20 pounds. The good…
