Ive lost 146 pounds Lifting 3-5 days a week and maybe doing 20-30 mins cardio once a week just to get my blood flowing. Weight lifting is for fat loss, Heavy Cardio is for weight loss... that is how i look at it. Id probably lose faster with just cardio but it would be a high percentage of both muscle and fat.

In the beginning those rapid losses are pretty normal. My first week eating 2000 calories i lost something like 14 pounds and it freaked me out because I wanted to do slow and steady as well. It might take a few weeks or even a month but the losses will slow. When you have a lot to lose it drops pretty fast.

A lot of european countries use a lot less preservatives in their foods and causes less water retention especially if you were in southern italy where its generally considered bad juju to eat food with preservatives. To be completely honest its probably just being back on a different diet.
