  • For me, it's about portion control. In the beginning, I was not able to accurately determine portion size. It's become easier now that I'm getting more used to it and I've gotten a scale, but in the beginning the frozen meals were just much simpler.
  • I do agree, but it's easier said than done sometimes. I have to constantly remind myself that one little splurge isn't going to make me regain the 16 pounds I've lost so far. I really can see how people become bulimic or anorexic, honestly. If I eat something I feel I shouldn't have, I feel sick to my stomach. I'm actually…
  • And I don't know how you feel about soy, but soy milk has a good amount of protein in it. I like rice milk and almond milk better, but soy has more protein.
  • I haven't eaten red meat or pork in over 19 years and haven't eaten poultry in about probably 5. I don't make a conscious effort to eat protein and I never have a problem getting more than enough. You'd be surprised at how much protein you get from non-meat sources. Iron is a much bigger concern, for me anyway. I've been…
  • I'm making it again soon and I'm going to use dried black-eyed peas too. The grocery store I went to had low-sodium versions of all the other canned beans, but not those and WOW on the sodium.
  • I've found the fake "meat" products to be really high in sodium. I LOVE Morningstar bacon, but holy crap that's a lot of sodium! I like Quorn too. I haven't looked at the nutritional facts. There's only one store that carries a couple of their products around here.
  • I know what you mean. I'm going to check out that website posted above. When I compare my stats with my meat-eating friends, I am always over on my carbs but under on fat, and they are usually close to or over on fat and way low on carbs.
  • I'm the same with my tea and coffee, no soda at all for me anymore. If I use any sweetener, it's real sugar. But I know what you mean. I'm using less and less sugar in my tea too. The super-sugary stuff just doesn't appeal to me anymore. It's great, isn't it? :)
  • Thanks for sharing!
  • You'll do great. I honestly think anyone can do it by doing it this way. It's not some stupid fad; it's learning to pay attention to what and how much you eat. Good luck (though I don't think you need it)! :)

  • Great job and you look very cute in your pics, not just physically cute, but I mean you can see the happiness in your face, if that makes any sense. :)
  • Thank you! See, even after all my Googling, I had it wrong. I thought the listed serving size was cooked and boy was I disappointed to see how much 56g of cooked pasta is (or isn't LOL)!
  • That's a huge difference (pun intended!)! WTG!
  • You really can't see the difference? You look WAY younger. Your face and neck are much thinner. I see a big difference. Good job!
  • Not just your body, you can see a big difference in your face! WTG!
  • BIG difference (no pun intended). :) Great job!
  • I didn't even know what my sodium intake should be, so I Googled it and found this - http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/sodium/NU00284. I'm sure I go over most of the time but I haven't looked at my previous diary entries yet. I think it's really hard when we first start out because if you're like me, you haven't really even…
  • Great job!!!
  • I have found my meals are more satisfying now and I think part of the reason is that I put all of my food on a plate. I am not good with portion sizes, so I'm eating a lot of WW Smart Ones, Lean Cuisine, etc. Only I don't eat them in their little plastic tray. I put them on a plate. To fill the plate up so that I think I'm…
  • From what I've read, it sounds like another dangerous fad. It's a get-rich scheme for whoever thought of it. Those of use who are unhappy with our weight are easy targets because a lot of us are willing to risk just about anything to get thin. Common sense says that unless you change your lifestyle, you will not change for…
  • That is not healthy. Have you tried to sit down and discuss it with him? He's probably feeling very insecure with himself and he's afraid he's not good enough for you now. However, as I said, that is not healthy and it needs to be addressed. Just my opinion.
  • To go from a 5x to XL is amazing! You've done a great job! Try not to be so hard on yourself. You've accomplished more than a lot of people have.
  • Thank you! I don't think of Cheerios when I think of iron-rich foods. That should be easy to incorporate.
  • I went to your profile too. Those sideways shots show a difference, not just in your weight but the way you carry yourself.
  • I agree! I can see a big difference!
  • Wow, I can see a huge difference in your face! WTG!
  • :frown: Darn it. I thought we could share recipes with each other in a database. I know there's a forum for it so I guess that'll have to suffice. Thank you for explaining!!
  • I think I must be really dense because I'm still not seeing a database of recipes. :blushing: All I see is the calculator, where I can add my own recipes. I thought there was a database of recipes where I could search.
  • Are you sure you're getting enough iron also?
  • Four minutes isn't a long time, but when you're doing something as strenuous as running up stairs, then I'm sure it seems like a really long time! Don't be so hard on yourself, you're doing great! You're doing more than I am, that's for sure.
