  • Tattoo is on my list, of course, it's on my list for 50 lbs too. I know what I'm doing for the 50lb one, I have lots of time to think about the 100lb one. Perhaps a new hair cut and colour too.
  • Back in February, when I had my caliper test done at the gym, it was 43%, my home scale at that time said 54%. Ya, I've got a long way to go.... So, I figure I'm somewhere in between those two numbers. I'm just happy to see that % going down on the scale at home. It means the % is going down even it it isn't an accurate…
  • Don't tell people you're on a diet. Just say no. You don't owe them any more explanation than that. Personally, I don't consider myself to be on a diet. A diet, to me, implies what I'm doing is temporary. The way I'm eating now cannot be temporary. Diets fail, everyone knows that - so it becomes a joke to hear someone say…
  • So what you're saying is once you reach goal weight, you won't have to get up to exercise anymore? I think that might defeat the purpose of all the hard work you've already put in. Put the scale away. I was up 5 lbs yesterday and today it's gone. I'd had a few days where my food choices put my sodium level way, way over.…
  • Nope, I was spot on as well, so I guess that's a good thing - to know that at the moment, I really do see myself as I am. Wonder if that will change as I get smaller? I still have a significant amount of weight to lose.
  • Height 5'7" HW-285 current-235 Goal for now- 199.9999999 LOL ugw- not sure yet - somewhere between 150 - 170, I think. depends what I feel like when I get there and how hard it is it to maintain once there. I have been 150 before (yrs ago) and I found it difficult to maintain Age:45/Female
  • I don't consider it hiding it, I just consider it keeping it quiet. I haven't told anyone, except my cousin, that I'm not only eating better, but going to a gym and exercising. I've lost almost 50 lbs and I've only recently had someone notice at work. When they asked if I was losing weight, I told them I was simply…
  • Do you also exercise in the morning? I ask because I used to run in the morning - anywhere from 5 - 10K - and even though I would have a decent breakfast and drank lots of water, I often ended up with a headache. I was also much hungrier the entire day. I believe I likely wasn't eating or drinking enough for the…
  • I agree with the above tips, plus, if there is dancing, then dance, dance, dance because it will burn lots of calories and it won't feel like exercise.
  • Going to my first spin class tonight at the gym. Also did 20 minutes of HIIT this morning before work. I expect to be completely exhausted and beyond sweaty when I'm done tonight. It will feel awesome!
  • Not so weird. I'm in a tight, but comfortable size 20 now (at 235) and may possibly be in an 18 when I get to the 220 range. I don't imagine I'll see 14 until I'm well into Onedurland. I was pretty darn happy when every 20 I tried on this weekend fit. I may have to be sedated when I get to a size 14, LOL>
  • Going through my closet this week to try on and discard. It might leave about 5 things hanging in there, but it's about time I learned to live with less clothing anyway. I will give away the things that are too big for me. I did a bit of shopping this weekend now that sales are on and bought a few things. I'm not any where…
  • Completely understand this too. Spanks in the heat of summer are not fun, but the alternative (chafing) is worse.
  • I really do have that fear of sitting on things and breaking them. Also of going to an amusement park and being too big to fit on the rides.
  • If you can, try to run earlier in the morning or later in the evening when (if) things cool down. Also agree with the going slower and having lots of water. A super hot day is not the day to try for your best time ever.
  • Unless it specifies on the package or recipe, I weigh everything before cooking/eating. When you are making a recipe and it calls for 1 lb of hamburger, you don't cook the hamburger first and then weigh out 1 lb, you weigh the lb before cooking. I'm assuming it should work the same way for all things....
  • Same thing I have most days 1 egg, scrambled with spinach, mushrooms and 1/2 serving of cheddar cheese.
  • I had a friend/coworker tell someone else when they asked her, that I only lost 20 pounds when in fact I'd lost 50. Not exactly an insult but still kind of pissed me off. Why can't you give me credit for all the weight i lost?
  • This, although I'd be even more blunt and use even stronger words. Rapid weight loss is not healthy. This is your journey and your body. What he thinks is irrelevant. Tell him to take his comments and shove them.......
  • I lift 3x per week and do a small amount of cardio on those days. On non-lifting days, I run. I have a great deal of weight to lose. I have not gained from lifting, and can now feel muscle in my arms etc. I figure once I get to goal weight, I should have some nice looking arms. At least, that's what I'm telling myself.
  • A fellow Canadian here and it's hard to find good but inexpensive workout gear here. I go to Old Navy because I can fit into their XXL stuff or Wal-Mart because they have plus size. I'm still pretty big, so it really limits my options. Mark's Work Wearhouse also has some workout gear but you may want to watch for a sale.…
  • It's not that I don't think it's worthy of MFP, it's that I don't feel it's anyone's business. If there ever comes a day when I post a question about what I'm eating, then I'll make it public. I don't see that day coming any time in the near future. I'm just not that likely to ask anyone's opinion about my food intake,…
  • I simply refuse to discuss it with anyone unless I'm 100% sure they're supportive (that leaves me with 1 person to confide in, BTW). I just don't talk about it. If I'm ever asked, I simply state I'm watching both sodium and sugar for health reasons (this is true - have high BP and had been borderline diabetic and on…
  • I am down almost 50 lbs and I just started noticing a difference when I look in the mirror now. I started in January. However, I know it was making a difference long before now. My clothes got looser, my fitness level increased, I can see a bit of muscle peeking out from under the fat that is still there. So I say don't…
  • Finally, someone noticed my weight loss at work! I'm down almost 50 lbs, with at least 50 more to go... All my pants are loose, so I need to get to the used stores to see if I can find some more. I'm not prepared to pay full price for pants that I KNOW won't fit me next year. tops are pretty baggy too, but they aren't in…
  • No advice, just best wishes. I am in awe of anyone who even attempts a tri!
  • I use this one as well because I do find it difficult to eat enough protein. I am not a fan of meat so I supplement at least some of my intake with a protein shake. but it only counts for maybe 25% of my daily intake. the rest is from food. I would also take a look at cost per serving. While Slimfast may only be $10.00,…

  • Yep, I just modify it a bit. for instance: 1. get thin crust 2. go easy on the cheese & sauce 3. I personally don't get any meat. Most of it is too processed and it makes me thirsty, which then makes me grumpy, LOL 4. try the whole wheat or multi grain crust. I haven't liked it at my local pizza joint - and all my breads…

  • During the school year, I wait until my son gets home from school (about 5:00) and then we go to the gym together. My gym doesn't open until 7:00 so early morning is out of the question since I have to wait for my son to get on the bus (about 7:30) and then be at work for 8:00. On weekends, I go early in the morning. Now…
  • Any jarred salsa has a lot of sodium. You can find a lower (but still not as low if you made it yourself) version in the fresh foods area of your grocery store - so where you would find the hummus or guacamole in plastic containers. I find mine in Zehrs - it's in a plastic container, not a jar. I've also found some at the…
