Wow, that's all I have to say. Good on both of you. Hope you are enjoying that retaining wall!

Sorry to say it, but you need to retrain your kids to follow a sleep schedule. I'm a single, working mom and believe you me, when my son was younger, he had a bed time and that was it. Bed at 8:00, you don't have to sleep, but you stay in that room and don't come out. He got it because it was always that way. You will have…

I like this idea. I have a dress I bought used that I didn't try on and found it was too tight when I did try it on at home. I think I will hang it on my door for motivation. Then once I get into it, I'll find something else to buy to hang in its place.

Wow, 12.5% difference for me too. I was 2.5 bodies apart. Of course, I still look at that smaller body and think to myself " I don't look that small". Ok, small is relative, because the body it says I am is between the 6th and 7th one. Still, I was pleasantly surprised.

I'm 5'7" and have over 100 to lose. People didn't comment until I was down 50lbs. Which was fine with me, I don't discuss my weight or what I'm doing with anyone, so it's not like they knew I was trying. Now that they've noticed, I say thank you if they comment and only if they ask, do I tell them what changes I've made to…

First of all, one week of no weight loss is not a plateau. Second, you didn't gain 2 lbs in one night, it's water retention, likely from sodium in food. Realize you didn't fall off the wagon, you went out and lived your life for a night. Get up, brush yourself off and carry on. There is no need to fast. Change your…

I don't have any words of wisdom, but I wanted to save this post for myself since I was also told I was pre-diabetic. I'd gotten it under control by cutting out all sugary snacks and making sure to eat high fibre, whole grains etc. however, lately, I've been allowing the sugary snacks to sneak back into my diet. I needed…

54 lbs down so far. Have at least that much left to go. Started January 2013, lost 50 by summer 2013, decided to maintain for a while as I was tired of taking and feeling like I was getting a little obsessive about the scale. So maintained well until Christmas, gained 15 lbs and have re-lost that plus 4 lbs since January…

I'm doing my first 1/2 in May. My longest training run will be 10 miles. I have to get some gels to try for fueling but I just bought a Camelbak knapsack/water bladder for water. I hate carrying things in my hands when I run, I also hate trying to drink while running and sometimes I don't want to stop to walk when I need…

What a great story. First, congrats. on the weight loss and on the new baby. I'm so sorry about the twins. What a terrible thing to have to go through. Glad you found your way out of what must surely have been a very sad time. I needed to hear a success like this today. As I sit here thinking about how long it's taking to…

Why has exercising become something you only do if you are trying to lose weight? Everyone should exercise - for their health and well being. It isn't just about losing weight. There are benefits for everyone - heart health, mental health, too many benefits to mention. Personally, I don't discuss weight loss, exercise,…

Mine is closed - frankly because I don't feel it's anyone's business what I eat. I don't ask for food advice or why am I not losing advice - if I did, I suppose I'd open it, but honestly, I don't see myself ever asking. If I don't lose, I know exactly why, I don't need folks poking through my diary to tell me why. I don't…

I watch my sodium as well due to high blood pressure. Here is what I do: buy low or no- sodium options whenever possible, make as much from scratch as I can, if a recipe calls for salt, I omit it, read labels and compare brands etc, find the lowest sodium option that you like. You still have to like what you are eating,…

Thrift stores when I can - although since I am still a plus size, I find the selection leaves a lot to be desired. could just be the way it is in my area. You also have to go often - sometimes you'll find lots of things, sometimes you'll find nothing at all. This winter, I did buy a lot of new clothes - I figured the…

I'm another daily weigher - for now, anyway. I think once I get closer to goal, I'll go to once a week or once a month. I only log here once a month, but I do log the daily weight with an app called happy scale. Show trends etc and it helps me to see that even though I may go up one day, it's not the end of the world. I…

Sometimes, when I run, I hear the theme from Rocky or Chariots of Fire in my head and picture myself heading to the finish line at a race with my ds at the end, cheering his head off. Keeps me going every time. A quote I repeat to myself when running is your legs are not giving out, your head is giving up. Keep going.

TOM makes a difference for me - I can jump up 3-4 lbs for a couple of days and then suddenly drop again. I've been tracking daily (give or take a day here and there) just to make sense of the increase and to see if it happens every month. It does - and it happens about 2 weeks before TOM starts, not during or just before,…

What great inspiration!

The best thing - I know I've improved my health - no longer pre-diabetic and blood pressure is much lower, though still on meds. The worst thing - I've got a lot more to lose, I'm not a spring chicken anymore and there's already loose skin. I'm going to look like a hot mess when I'm done (but since I don't tend to walk…

I have completed the program. It's great to get you up and running. My advice - good shoes, don't worry about pace, speed comes with practice. Just get the intervals done at whatever pace is comfortable for you. I likely started out at 4 mph pace, maybe even slower. It definitely helped with the weight loss because when I…

Like everything else in life - it depends on the person. No one form of anything (diet or otherwise) will work for all people. If counting calories works for you, great, do it. If it doesn't, move on and find what does. It works for me at the moment and I intend to continue to use it until i reach goal. Once I figure out…

If you are making the meal, cook what you want. He either eats it, makes something for himself or goes hungry. Stop making two meals.

Not sure embarrassed is the right word for me personally, but while I appreciate the compliment, I'd rather not be noticed. I don't like attention on myself - yes, very likely due to esteem issues and being painfully shy when I was younger. I was also teased a lot when I was younger, so I think that plays a part. I had a…

Yes, I don't even know what my ultimate goal weight is yet. I had been taking it in 10% increments, but once I reach the next one (4 lbs to go) I'm changing to10 lb increments. I have over 100 lbs lose as well. I change my ticker to add the next increment once I've reached the current one.

I'm Jennifer and I'm a few pounds away from my second goal. I have over 100 lbs to lose, but I'm breaking it into smaller amounts so its not so overwhelming. The no junk challenge is a good one for me because I've been slacking a little bit and the weight has not been coming off the way it would be if I was not allowing…

So far, so good.

Junk for me is cookies cake ice cream chocolate potato chips that said, if I have room at the end of the day for an ice cream sandwich and it fits in my macros, it's not junk, it's a snack. It's the one turning into the entire box that has been the problem in the past.

Ok, I'm in. I keep telling myself no more sweets/salty snacks, but somehow, I find myself having just a little. This will make me accountable

I often have leftovers froze from an earlier healthy meal, but one of my favourite things to make is an open face sandwich using a good multigrain bread, toasted, a swipe of Renee's southwest ranch dressing, a mashed avocado and sliced tomatoes. Sometime I'll put 1/2 serving of feta in with the avocado. I put a pile of…

You'll have to experiment to see what works for you. For me, I can't eat anything before a workout, so it's dinner after for me.
