  • I try to do those every day, with or without dumbbells because of the carpal tunnel I used to have. It works, too. Thanks, californiagirl!
  • Thanks, californiagirl! What a great idea.
  • I'll be doing some minor cleaning and packing for a mini-trip. And since I already did my 2 mi walk to my LS Walk Strong DVD, I should be in good shape.
  • I'll do my best. I've already walked 35 minutes. It's the water I need to push.
  • One website I looked at said to stay away from the brown sauces in Oriental restaurants. Good luck!
  • I did mine. I think I did 25.
  • Don't know if I'm up for any exercise today had a very bad reaction to some food this morning and feel tired and drained. Will try to get up the energy for later. Meanwhile going to try to do some light housekeeping. Have a great day!
  • I went to a gluten-free expo last year and found that there is a whole line of non-food products out there including shampoo, lotions, makeup, etc. So I guess it is a possibility. By the way, I too, am just allergic to wheat.
  • I was told that I had a wheat allergy when I was a child, but don't remember doing too much about it. After having my symptoms get really bad over the last five years (coughing at night, IBS and several breathing issues) I read an article in AARP magazine about food allergies and it rang a bell. So in April I went…
  • That's part of my workout 2 days a week anyway, I guess I'll do my today.
  • My husband supports me and he loves that I'm taking care of myself. I lost 10 pounds just before my birthday and he gave me a gift certificate at Sports Authority so I could buy some exercise outfits--then he went with to help me pick them out. Also, he loves to eat health (lots of vegies) so he is really excited that I'm…
  • Sounds good to me, too. Need to buy some oatmeal flour.
  • Hi, Empty nester grandma, I'm a gramanana to 4 beautiful grandkids that I only see a few times a year. I've also been fighting weight issues most of my life. It got really bad when I quit smoking over 10 years ago--I put on 30 pounds in a very short time and have half-heartedly tried to lose it several times. MFP really…
  • I just used Bob's Red Mill Bred Mix in my bread maker and boy is it good! It's pretty high in calories, 150 per slice when loaf is divided into 16 pieces, but it sure tastes good. Just thought I would pass this along.
  • I'm 63 and also did WW several years ago. I really didn't enjoy the weekly meetings and hearing about all the successes when I was stuck, so I quit. Of course, I put back on all the weight; it's too hard counting points and figuring out points if you don't eat all the packaged foods they recommend. I remember when they…
  • I used to do those wall pushups. Thanks for the reminder.
  • I listen to my favorite music while I'm on the treadmill. Sometimes I have a very good time keeping up with the music. LOL
  • I've done WW in the past, too, but found it very difficult and expensive; it's much easier tracking calories. Also, I could never seem to make any friends at the meetings and I've found through MFP that friends do make a difference. Welcome!
  • I walk roughly 1 mile a day. If that'll help, count me in.:ohwell:
  • I have had a lifetime of bowel issues, too. I have a mood disorder and asthma. All are clearing up since I went gluten-free in April. My mom was told when I was a child that I had a wheat allergy, but all I can remember doing about it was not eating wheat cereals. In April, I read an article in AARP and realized that what…
  • I'm in...such great exercise ideas. Thanks.
  • I've been gluten-free (or trying and getting better all the time) since April of this year. It hasn't stopped me from losing weight--I've lost 10 lbs--but it is more challenging. You can do it!::happy:
  • I'm from Lily Lake, Illinois, just outside St. Charles. Formerly from Chicago and Wilmette
  • Welcome! I'm wheat intolerant--just figured that out since late March of this year. I love the over 60s group because it keeps me energized. There are several gluten-free MFP groups, too, for food and recipe ideas. I'm going to look into the Dukan Diet to see what that's about. I've lost 10 lbs since April, but now I'm…
  • Good for you! There is an over 60s group on MFP that you might want to join also. We have mini challenges and ideas for exercising and getting/staying in shape.
  • Recipes from Elana's Pantry are great! I can't wait for the weather to cool off so I can start to bake again.
  • Thanks for the good info. I've not been able to find any gluten-free Rudi's unless it disappears before I get to the stores. I've tried Whole Foods, Trader Joe's, Meijer's and Woodman's in my area. All the Rudi's are organic, but not gluten-free. I'll keep looking. Udi's works for me. As soon as it cools down, I'm going to…
  • I need to watch mainly for wheat because of my allergic reaction to it. After 4 months I'm still not sure about all gluten, but tracking what I eat and when I have a reaction or get sick is a big help.
  • I have a wheat allergy and need to buy gluten-free products. I have also learned that "gluten-free" doesn't mean "wheat-free" so I really need to be careful. I generally know within 6 hours of eating something with wheat in it because of stomach cramps and the next day I have what is called a "histamine reaction" with a…
