  • I've always said, "No thanks," to every offer of food at work, ever. If they push, I say I've already eaten, or have a really good lunch packed that I would hate if it went bad. If you say no to everything, then people will eventually stop offering, which may reduce the temptation. It's pretty easy for me to just make it a…
  • My boss at a previous job got everyone on my team a massage during our 'busy season', that was pretty awesome and definitely helped reduce some stress. Probably not a doable thing at a big company, though.
  • It's really hard. Throughout my weight loss I've taken breaks from MFP and just let myself live. I will weight myself about once a week and if the scale starts to go up more than five pounds, I reign it in and start tracking again. At first it was hard to maintain, but I've gotten to the point I can take months off of MFP…
  • Um, just don't go on a binge. It's not that hard. If you do, you're more likely put behind on your goals, while just one high calorie meal is likely to have no effect (besides some water retention.)
  • Sometimes it happens to me, but then I started to realize how many people bring the same stuff to work. Most of the time I figure it happens because they thought it was theirs and I often find myself wondering if I've taken something that wasn't mine. Just write your name on it, I can't imagine anyone is maliciously taking…
  • I make a shake w/ 1/2 a banana, 2.5 tbs raw cacao powder, roughly a cup of almond milk, a wee squirt of honey, 1 tbs raw macca powder, and a scoop of vanilla protein powder. Sometime I add raw coconut meat, or soaked almonds, or sub the almond milk w/ coconut water. The raw cacao is so rich and delicious, it definitely…
  • A 'good' thing that happened, though, was I was diagnosed with endometriosis via the ovary biopsy, so at least I had that without having to undergo another surgery and it explained a lot.
  • I went in for a 'routine' cyst removal and they ended up doing a full laparotomy (full hip to hip incision, instead of laparoscopically as planned) and I woke up (expecting to leave that same day) to over a week's hospital stay and with one less ovary. Not to scare you, but if I could go back, I would have not had the…
  • Thanks for the heartfelt and encouraging responses- I was really feeling down when I posted this originally. I gave myself a break on tracking for the holidays, so I didn't see either of your responses until now. It's a rough diagnosis to contend with, but I've been feeling much more positive lately. It's most tough having…
  • I would either go braless or wear a bra with a cute coordinating pattern/color and just let it show in the back. I've tried those sticky bras and stuff, but they don't really work for me (might as well be braless.) You could try a bandeau top too, that might look ok if you can see it, but it doesn't really provide support.
  • Are they against eating it because of nutritional reasons or for taste reasons? I'm not a huge fan of many fruits, if they're too sweet without a tart or sour undertone they do not taste good to me (some varieties of apples, some of the newer breads of tangerines, some berries, overripe bananas, etc.) I still eat them…
  • I saw a picture of myself that a friend posted on Facebook. I'm not a vain person and typically truly don't care how bad/silly/whatever look in photos, but I was so horrified by the way I looked I had to ask her to take it down. Then I stepped on the scale and realized I was over 200 lbs. Yikes. I started counting calories…
  • I don't find this story funny at all. Your wife sounds, at the least, annoying and quite possibly needs some serious counseling. She shouldn't be crying because you don't want to do something and she should really know that you wouldn't do that in the first place; you guys are married, right? I know what brand and style of…
  • My go-to snacks are: 15 Almonds Apple String Cheese Yogurt A couple slices of deli meat I always try to stick to 100 cals for snacks unless I have a 15 hour day and instead of eating dinner I'll snack a bunch, then I'm less strict about that and will have a snack or two around 200 calories.
  • I forgot to add, while I think a tattoo is a great reward, I would consider doing it as a 'maintained my goal weight for a year' reward. Your skin is going to tighten up if you maintain your goal weight and the tattoo will look way better a year after you've met your goal. Plus, so many people don't maintain their weight…
  • I'm not great at setting aside money as I lose weight to get my 'rewards,' so I in the past I've bought things when I have the extra cash and don't use them until I met my goal. If you have self-control and aren't often strapped for cash, it would be a cool idea to set aside a set amount a money for every set amount of…
  • I just add it to anything thick/goopy- shakes, oatmeal, 'puddings' (really a mix of fruits and almond milk or coconut milk, whatever I want.)
  • The way I figure my calories burned (because I don't have or really want a HRM) is I drop about 100/200 calories from the MFP estimation and then only eat back about half of what I estimated I burned. It's not an exact science, but it works for me.
  • Thanks everyone!

  • Hi! I'm 5' 3.5" and have lost 56 pounds so far using MFP and am looking to loose another 25 (and then after that maybe another 20.) I think the best advice I have would be to just keep with it. If you slack for a week (or two, or three), no worries, just get back to eating right and working out the next week and you'll…
  • I think the best way would be to just discuss nutrition and get active as a family. Explain why one food is better than the other in proper terms, i.e. this bag of chips has 320 calories and no protein or fiber, but this string cheese is only 80 calories and 4 grams of protein, therefore it is better for you. Explain how…
  • Yum! I just looked up recipes for that. It looks amazing! It looks like it would freeze well too. Thanks!
  • I never thought about using my crock pot, that's a great idea! For some reason I only think about using my crockpot for raining-stay-at-home days where I want to smell something yummy cooking while I watch movies and stuff. :-) Little meatloafs are also a fantastic idea. Thanks!
  • My SO is not into fitness and eats very differently than I do. With that said, as I've changed my habits he's slowly changed his a bit. He'll eat a good helping of veggies with dinner, even if I didn't make them for him he'll make them himself. He talks about doing cardio, but hasn't quite gotten to it yet. He works a…
  • I looked at your diary, you seem to be eating well to me. Personally, I wouldn't worry about it. Once you feel like eating more, go ahead and eat more. I ate around 1000 calories a day when I first started loosing weight too, wasn't starving, and I've never 'plateaued' or anything. I eat more now because I exercise tons,…
  • I recently had to just cut my mom out of my life. I came to the realization she would never change her behavior towards me and even brief infrequent conversations with her would always leave me upset, it just wasn't worth it anymore. After a particular harassing string of conversations, I told her I just couldn't handle a…
  • I used to be afraid to weigh, but the more I do it the less afraid I am. So now I weigh a couple times a day. That's how I deal with most things that give me anxiety, just do it a bunch.
  • That is super frustrating, sounds like something my bf would do, which is why I've banned him from doing laundry (to his delight.) I love love love the Goodwill, though. You'll be hip with us kids now. =)
