People are going to KILL me for saying this but I'm gonna go there - hypothyroidism runs in my family. I have seen remarkable changes from cutting gluten (cue eye roll from everyone reading this) and though that might (most likely) be because I don't really eat grains anymore and eat more meat and fruit and vegetables, I…

I use a WW scale that only displays a different weight if you lose or gain 2 lbs, that way you won't freak out over water weight (good or bad). for ME its better because i find it too easy to let that number affect my mood.

Sweet :)

I'm a bit like you in the sense that when I get really excited about losing weight and see the numbers drop, i get extremely disappointed when they stop and will do anything to make them keep going down. Its a bit of an addiction and thats how you have to look at it. Personally, I start relapsing if i've skipped meals. I…

A lot of it is water weight. which is still important. Individuals with a high amount of adipose tissue retain an excessive amount of water (more than the average person, understandably) and this can lead to very uncomfortable symptoms. They also had a high amount of salt (although the number reflects the typical amount of…

If you could point me those papers I would really appreciate it! Again, trying to address anything that would require further research. So far I'm finding that there is a sig fat loss. Every other study I have read has speculated via computer predictions, or has evaluated its subject long term. Those that have done long…

Same here  but all those things can use a little tweak now and then

Agreed. We must remember however that the typical SAD (standard American Diet) has led to a heart disease epidemic while the mediterranean diet may lower the risk for heart disease. It doesn't have to be so extreme for a person, thats not sustainable. But it is one way of demonstrating that macro's do play a role and thats…

How is it an outlier? I understand that a lot of that weight loss may have been because of water but there have certainly been other studies demonstrating a low carb diet can be beneficial for brain function.

Me too. It's insane :noway:

Well link 3 actually doesn't refute the first link, it just demonstrates a significant weight loss when calories are restricted. But yes that is the take away and I would like to widen the category to those that are tested. Seeing how you read the studies, would you recommend any groups I should include? what would make…

Mine WAS a 4/6! :)

Im assuming you didn't read the papers but thank you anyways :)

You should try seeing a naturopath. :) They are essentially dietitians and drs combined and will certainly guide you. They will also do comprehensive allergy tests if you ask as they recognize many people have food sensitivities that go undiagnosed

I definitely think that Nutritional value is of equal importance to calories :) but Lara bars aren't all that great. Luna bars seem better (more food for calories). The lara bars are so tiny :( they barely put a dent in my hunger and then thats 220 calories gone. You can try making a meal out them by eating them with greek…
