  • Well said! (Sometimes I hate thinking about food and exercise so much too. But, it's far better than feeling out of control.) :O)
  • Agreed! I think you have to overestimate. I also think that sometimes the chef/cook in the kitchen doesn't give a rip about the recipe. So, even if you have the nutritional information, you should pad it a bit because the recipe might not be followed exactly. I have recently travelled to both New York and California where…
  • Runny egg yolks. BLUCK!
  • I'm NOT a morning person. My favourite time to workout is at lunch. But, I just can't do that everyday. Recently I have been working out at night. I thought, for sure I'd have trouble sleeping. But, no way. And, while it's hard to get into my workout wear and begin something in the evening, for me, it's WAY easier than…
  • Hmmm... you made me think of a new motivator. I have this pretty spring dress I was too self-conscious (aka: tubby) to wear last spring........ :O)
  • We all have days like this. Wisdom from Dora: Just keep swimming. Just keep swimming. (Hey! Maybe literally!)
  • I totally rock a full skirt and tight top too. And the old guys hit on me. I never put that together. LOL!
  • I am SO pear-shaped. To my great surprise, I learned that some guys love my butt. (I literally shed tears over the size of it when I was a teen-ager.) I work out a lot and I like sprinty kinds of sports like floor hockey and soccer, so my legs are little beefed up too. I just keep hoping that those muscles are burning more…
  • Wonderful! It reminds me of the little old lady that surged past me on every lap at the pool. It kind of made me mad to be whipped by a senior like that - but inspired too. Definately inspired.
  • Great post! My guy eats like a snake. He goes all day and doesn't eat. Then, he heads to the pub and has about 5 beer and a burger or something. If I did that I'd be 300 pounds, faint-headed, and probably a diabetic. I eat small, healthy meals all day every day. I ususally consume about 1500 calories (which means working…
  • I almost always pre-log my exercise. It forces me to actually do it (for some odd reason). If I've logged it, then it's going to happen. Also, I like planning my day. So, I'll pre-log the food I intend to eat as well. BUT, I never complete my log until I've actually done the exercise and confirmed that I ate what I said I…
  • Interesting post! I'm one of those women that goes on auto-pilot and wears make-up every day. It's just like brushing my teeth or getting dressed to me. I've been this way for almost 30 years when I think about it. (YIKES!). But, recently, I've been reducing the makeup I wear because of my work-outs. I often work-out at…
  • Sometimes I just want to eat - even when I'm not hungry. If my sweet tooth is kicking in, I go for the dessert gums. They are AWESOME! I especially love the apple pie flavour. Surprisingly, it doesn't make me crave the real thing. (I'm also really big on drinking at least two cups of tea or hot water after dinner.)
  • It always takes from the boobs first. Sigh! The good news is your body might drop weight in places you weren't even thinking of. That little dip at the bottom of your back, your collarbones, cheekbones, that spot just above the knee...... just appreciate whatever you get back. :O)
  • Great post and great conversations around it! Thanks! I work in the tech. industry. Oddly enough, one of my inital challenges to losing weight was knowing that I was taken MORE seriously as a heavy (and pretty frumpy) girl. When I lost weight, grew out my hair, and started to wear contacts, there was a significant number…
  • We had a big garden when I was a kid. My Dad LOVED radishes and we'd have them all the time. But, I've never had them cooked. I'm absolutely going to try this. Thanks!
  • There's an excellent french chocolate called "Fluer de Sel". Lindt makes a great one. It's an amazing PMS cure. Dark chocolate and really good quality salt. What more does a PMS girl need? :O) I keep a bar at my desk and let myself have 1 - 3 squares at PMS time in the afternoon (when my cravings are the worst). It works…
  • WOW! Great for you! I'm inspired, for sure!
  • My GOD! What a change. Good for you!
  • 42 - and wondering if the age factor is kicking in.
  • I use the notes section to record tidbits that might be helpful if I'm going back to see how I ate when I lost or didn't lose weight, but that are too tedius or difficult to get into the journal. For example: Drank a pot of green tea and stayed full, or it was really a bikini martini not a lychee martini, but I couldn't…
  • That's such a HUGE change. I'm surprised you deviated just by accident! I think I would have caved out of cravings (and/or weakness). I would say that you should write down exactly how much and when you ate it. See if you feel any changes yourself. If so, write that down. Then, your trainer will have lots of information.…
  • I just did a major (to me) reno where I replaced every bit of flooring in my house. Everyone from my boyfriend (who's a builder) to my co-workers, family, and the guys I bought my materials from told me to paint the walls BEFORE we put in the new flooring. I followed that advise and I'm really glad I did so. Of course, it…
  • I'm 5' and a 1/2 inch. (Gotta mention that 1/2 inch! LOL!) I'm 42. Post-vacation, I'm at about 145 right now. Goal: 135. Stretch goal: 130. Add me! I'd love to chat about short girl challenges. (Is the BMI skewed for us?! How on earth do you adjust the gymn equipment, where do you find work-out wear that fits.....)
  • Looking great! Good for you! (I like the wry smile) :O)
  • Oh - and I have a breakfast suggestion for you. I recently tried broiled grapefruit. It is SO good! Just slice the fruit in half and put it open side up on a cookie sheet. Broil it for about 5 minutes or so. Sprinkle some cinammon on it and you have a great, low-cal, no-fat, no dairy, NO EGG, breaky! I hope you like it.…
  • How are you sleeping? If you're not sleeping well, you should focus your attention on that. If you think you're sleeping well, try adding in a bit more sleep and see if that helps. There's a growing body of evidence that sleep can really affect our metabolism. I learned about this AFTER I concluded that sleep must make a…
  • One pound at a time, right? Good for you! :O)
  • I think the difference between slim and bikini body is every bit as big as the difference between chubby and thin. Really! Plus, you have the added demotivator of "I'm slim already, why should I work so hard to be a hard body?". Good for you! Any tips - especially on motivation, are much appreciated.
  • You sound about as busy as I am - maybe more! I work (more than) full time. I'm a single Mom. I am the president of a Board of Directors and do a lot of volunteer work. I'm dating a wonderful man; he's supportive, but it's not as if he'll come to yoga class with me. I find it difficult to get my exercise as well. On those…
