Definitely firm or extra firm to stirfry! As some others have mentioned, it's good to "press" your tofu too to get the excess moisture out of it before you cook. With the silken tofu, you could simply cube it and add it to a clear broth soup. You can also add it to a blender along with some frozen fruit and a little liquid…

I thought I was the only one who did that!! People (ok, mostly my boyfriend) always give me funny looks. Guilty pleasure: frozen dinner fettuccini alfredo with sriracha. I hate cream sauces, but they taste so good with sriracha..

Knew about some of the horrors in processed and fast foods, but BEAVERS? Mind blown.
-
This! :) Luckily that's the way my boyfriend sees it.

Salaried for 40 hours a week and like some others mentioned, it still feels like too much! I can't imagine working 50-60. Too much away-from-home time, to me :(

Agreed!! Is it just me or does Matt Smith look a little bit wonky by comparison? Maybe it's the hair... or the facial structure... I miss the Tenth Doctor :(
-
LOVE these ideas! My current tattoo is non-geeky, but I'm seriously contemplating a TARDIS... :)

Question -- is he genuinely "protesting" (for lack of better words) the weight loss or is he perhaps doing it to be nice? My boyfriend tells me I don't need to lose weight, but it doesn't keep him from being supportive of my wanting to be healthier and more confident in how my body looks. Just a thought.

I wish I had the answer! Odds are, I would probably end up being more like the last option -- exercising and saving up calories for the "splurge" of going out with them. For example, last weekend everyone wanted to go out for all you can eat Korean barbecue. Luckily it was a lunch date, so I enjoyed myself with them and…

1. FAVORITE CHIPS? Hot Cheetos with Limon! 2. FAVORITE COOKIE? Mini Oreos (I swear they taste different than the regular sized ones somehow) 3. FAVORITE ICE CREAM FLAVOR? Mint chocolate chip 4. FAVORITE DONUT? Plain ol' glazed. Donut holes, if I can get them! 5. FAVORITE ITEM FROM FAST FOOD BURGER RESTAURANT? Do chicken…

I have, more or less. I'm 5'3" and at my heaviest I inched toward 128lbs (thanks to living in the San Fernando Valley for a year and making poor eating choices for all those munchies, if you know what I mean) but I've gone back to a fairly consistent 118-120lbs in recent years and am currently hovering closer to 115.…

Ditto the fresh pasta suggestions! Here's a step by step :) http://nomnomcat.com/2011/09/25/fresh-pasta-a-real-eye-talian-treat/

I make edamame fried rice at home -- start by sauteing the onions. when they've softened, just toss in a handful (or two, or three!) of the edamame. Stir around. Add the rice, then the egg, and season to taste with some soy sauce. Easy peasy!

here! :) feel free to add me.

Have fun! Edamame fried rice is delicious and easy to make even without a recipe. :)

Agreed! The water count is for the sake of tracking hydration, so I count most fluids, caffeinated or otherwise. If it adds calories (ex: Crystal Light or whatever), I will log the handful of calories at the top AND up the water intake at the bottom. I'm not convinced that your body wouldn't be able to extract the water it…

Usually the most that people will say pro yolk-eating is that it's nutritious because it was destined to "feed" a chicken embryo, but this post is so detailed! Thanks for the heads-up. Now I don't feel so guilty about eating my whole soft boiled eggs :)

Salad using 1.5 cups of chopped up sugar snap peas, one pouch of low sodium chunk light tuna packed in water, a few chopped up sweet pickles, and then balsamic vinaigrette dressing spritzed over it. A filling, satisfying 200 cal lunch!
-
Balsamic vinaigrette or just balsamic vinegar on its own. I picked up a lovely peach cinnamon white balsamic that goes great on spinach salads. Not a big fan of creamy dressings, but the sour cream / greek yogurt + powdered mix sounds like an interesting idea for those who are fans!

Kirsty_UK: I was waiting for someone to make an Adipose reference! They're so cute! And squishy! And I don't want to know how many of them would "walk away" from my body.... lol.

Ditto. Was it more like a pizza chain's delivered pizza or like a Costco-sized slice? :)

When I had my wisdom teeth removed, I made a huge pot of chicken soup and drank the broth for most of the week. Rough estimates/recipe: - 3-4 chicken thighs (I love the flavor of dark meat, but you could use chicken breasts on the bone as well) - 6 cups of water - Mirepoix (chopped carrots, celery, onion) - 2-3 cloves…

Same here! Everyone's different. My "breakfast" is usually a mug of tea (drinking something hot not only hydrates me but makes my tummy feel full) and a square of dark chocolate to hold me over until lunch. If I eat anything too substantial, I just end up even hungrier throughout the day and "run out" of calories by the…

One tip I remember reading is to scoop out the dishes using a fork so you "leave behind" some of the fatty, greasy, not-so-good-for-you sauce. Anything steamed should be safe -- you could try asking them to go light on the sauce or oil if needed.

I get my greek yogurt from Trader Joes, but I always stir. I like the smoother, less viscous texture that stirring creates. My boyfriend always leaves his alone. He said it's like eating a sweet block of tofu (apparently in a good way). He makes a funny face when I stir. I'm going to hide from him that he's been eating it…

Completely agree. My relatives are always quick to point out when I've gained weight or look pudgy or "could stand to lose a few", but when I start making changes and counting calories, suddenly I'm "too skinny" and need to "stop dieting". Forum trolls I can take with a grain of salt, but family get under my skin all too…

When I make this at home or when it's served at my parents' house, a typical "small" bowl would have about 2 cups of cooked noodles in it. Haven't measured, but I guess I had the advantage of seeing the portion before the broth was poured over it. Just wanted to let you know that I agree with your eyeballing. :)

I think we all have cheat days, but for me, it's hard to fight the feeling of guilt the day or two afterward. It just motivates me to exercise more. If I really feel the need to "make up" for it, I might eat back only some of my exercise calories but I don't go below my daily goal.

5'3" here! Used to be 120-ish but am currently at 115. Mostly trying to tone up, although I certainly wouldn't mind being a bit lighter on the scale along the way.

Farmers Markets. Also, my dad tends to a mini-forest of fruit trees in his backyard of all our favorite Southeast Asian fruits -- longan, lychee, mango, guava, soursop / custard apple, waterapple, white grapefruit, etc. :)
