  • I gave up diet soda and it made a huge difference. Here is a Yale Study on the effects of artificial sweeteners found in diet sodas and the effect they have on the body: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2892765/ The interesting part of the research is the use of artificial sweeteners and the effect on the…
  • If you have a belly, it may be caused by something popularly called, "wheat belly." You may have a sensitivity to wheat products. I am low-carb and I consume no wheat any more. It has made such a difference for me. I still enjoy bread, but I get coconut bread or almond bread. Here is a link to Paleo-bread:…

  • At the very beginning, I took my measurements from all over my body: neck, upper chest, bust, waist, both thighs, both calfs, both biceps. I continued to take my measurements every 25 lbs. I could see a huge difference in inches after the first 25. I bought new clothing after the first 30. I was so surprised in the…
  • There are several low-carb groups that you can join. Click on the groups tab and enter "keto" or "low-carb" into the search box and join one of the groups that pop up!
  • Here is a website with the nutritional information for Hibiscus http://www.nutritionvalue.org/Hibiscus_tea_nutritional_value.html
  • In the wintertime, I love my immersion blender for making soup. In the summertime I love my blender for smoothies. All year I love my Aerogarden...for growing herbs to flavor my food, and my coffee maker. (I don't do sugar, soda so caffein is my only vice)
  • I don't take coconut oil straight. Treat it like a butter substitute. Sautee in it, use it on toast, season veggies....
  • If you want us to be able to make suggestions, you may want to open you profile to public so we can see what you are eating currently and can suggest changes and offer better informed support.
  • Dunkin Donuts on-line has nutritional information. google "dunkin donuts nutritional information" and the website will pop up. Unfortunately they do not have the fall flavors posted as of yet.
  • I know this sounds bizarre but add vanilla protein powder. It will taste just like a latte from Starbucks!
  • Not criticizing the soda, just providing support!: I completely understand the soda craving. I cut out soda a year ago and it was hard. If you want to eventually get rid of the soda, try replacing it it with sparkling water. That really helped me when I got the craving for the bubbly. I will add flavored stevia to sweeten…
  • I stopped drinking any soda for the past year, and I am feeling great. I have had an occasional rootbeer (twice in the past year) but other than that, nada. I will have sparkling water flavored with stevia when I want the bubbles! It works very well. A few drops of cola flavor anda few drops of grape flavor combine to…
  • I took the time to look at your profile. You are 20 year old and your circadian clock is most active in the evening and most sluggish in the mornings. You might try altering when you eat. Try a sugar-free protein shake in the morning (Like Jay Robb) and then eat a bit later in the day. Also, if you want to hold off hunger…
  • This is totally true... my friend died when her box of industrial sized Costco Pop Tart box fell from the top shelf. They found her on the kitchen floor, bludgeoned by the box. .....if she'd only stuck with marshmallows!
  • Turn on the coffee maker, empty bladder, weigh. Obviously my priorities are in the right order! ;D
  • I have been interested in adding protein powder to my diet and know nothing about protein powder. After looking around in stores, seeing that most of them are flavored by artificial sugars, I decided to do some research on the internet. I found a protein powder sweetened with stevia. Are any of you familiar with Jay Robb…
  • I have been doing low carb, healthy fat. Going crazy on the eggs or high fat is not a good idea. I have one egg and one egg white omelet, grill a bunch of chicken (skinless) and chop it up to put in a bowl in the fridge. Same thing with beef. Choose a lean roast and allow the fat to drip off in the oven. then dice to keep…

  • Actually, Hibiscus tea is higher in anti-oxidants than green tea!
  • You may try to find the farmers market part of the faire and buy fresh fruits and veggies. Sometimes you can find a decent burrito or wrap sandwich. I tend to bring my own food.
  • There are tons of Low-Carb cookbooks available at Barnes & Noble or Amazon. Check out some of them for great ideas.
  • Actually I found that a heating pad works better than the light in the oven. Not all ovens have the incandescent light! The heating pad keeps everything warm at a constant temp and not too hot!
  • My mom swears by Dr Oz. It makes me crazy. She sends me information based on whatever he says. The funny thing is, I have lost 60 lbs doing a diet he said you should never do! LOL! She thinks rainbows come out of his *kitten*. I can show her all the research that proves he is a crackpot and is only after making people feel…
  • My son's girlfriend thanked me the other day for teaching and insisting on manners to my son. He opens doors. He helps ladies in and out of the car, he eats with his mouth closed and puts his fork down between bites. He holds a chair for a lady to sit. He waits for the lady to order first before placing his order and he…

  • Most of the sugar in yogurt is located in the whey, and it the reason for the numbers you see. If you took a good quality, organic plain 0% fat yogurt and allowed it to sit in a coffee filter for a few hours, you would get greek yogurt. The reason greek is better is because the whey is filtered out, thus the sugar is…
  • Here are some good websites for some basic information: http://www.drmarcantel.com/endometriosis-uterine-fibroids-and-estrogen-dominance/ http://www.drlam.com/articles/estrogen_dominance.asp http://articles.mercola.com/sites/articles/archive/2004/09/29/endometriosis-health.aspx
  • Try researching the connection between too much estrogen in the body and endometriosis. You might do well with a progesterone creme (not pills). Estrogen and estrogen-like substances are found in hormone treated meats, milk and pesticides. Eliminating this from your diet may help and with the added progesterone cream it…
  • I had horrible acid reflux that no pill would stop, and I had some gas and bloating. I chose to go off gluten and my symptoms went away. Whenever I decide to eat something made with wheat, white or rye (though rye doesn't effect me as bad) I immediately get heartburn again. No pasta for me, I am happy with spaghetti squash!
