  • Partner is making butter chickpea tofu (grocery store didn't have paneer so we substituted) with rice and browned naan (garlic and sea salt) while I coach him from the bedroom. I've caught the flu and can't stand up but I had cooked chickpeas earlier this week and set aside for this so it's getting made one way or the…
  • my Nokia/Withings Body+ syncs with the app just fine (though I had to turn off steps - it was doing some crazy calculation and giving me a calorie per step which was beyond absurd). But for weighins it syncs fine and I have both myself and my partner set up as private accounts on it so it recognized each of us and only…
  • I will often do "freezer meals". Lets me do a lot of cooking at once and we also only have two people so it's easy to portion out for 2-4 depending on if we want lunch leftovers. It's also easy for one person to make something quick if the other person's schedule doesn't line up. Websites: Happy Money Saver:…
  • Baked sweet potato with black bean and sweet onion (garlic, paprika, onion powder, sea salt and red pepper flakes) cooked in a bit of olive oil. Topped with chopped avocado and plain Greek yogurt mixed with a bit of lime juice and black pepper.
  • You don't have to run. Do whatever pace you are comfortable. You can set each story to be a "distance" or a "time" and the story segments will adjust accordingly. There is also a c25k app that is separate. The story for the c25k takes place between the first and second episodes of season one. If you want to work up to…
  • I use an arm band. Researched my phone and found one the phone and case would fit in easily. My house and or gym key, bus pass (just in case if I'm running outside and on my own), money of some variety, and ID (also just in case if outside and on my own) fit easily inside as well. Once the phone is turned on I slip it in…
  • To be honest I actually use zombies run for my interval training as well as story runs. It lets you create the length and combination of run(sprint), jog, walk that you want. Added bonus in my case since I got the app long before they added that feature since I like the story aspect. (And it works with various music…
  • They did a VR race last fall (2015). Most are assuming they will do another this fall, but no official word yet. And yes you can run it multiple times to either best your previous run, or work towards a PB if you were having a poor run one day etc. You can pause the app I suppose if you wanted to take a break and do it as…
  • @troytroy11 The VR was amazing! This is their second (the first was in the fall last year). They create a "special mission" that is separate from the normal app story continuity. This race was a "prequel" that explores the original outbreak long before Abel township. People from all over the world sign up and you have a…
  • I have both the regular zombies run and the c25k. I did the first four weeks of the c25k and will likely go back to it eventually for the story, but I've taken to doing the regular app now. I'm a legacy user so I have access to everything (drop missions, interval training, races etc) without a subscription. My partner and…
  • I don't have a name for this (my sister calls it "boat salad" because she used to work on an event boat in Victoria and that's where she got the recipe). Basic instructions - make it red, make it green, add everything else - mix. Measurements are arbitrary based on how much salad you want (if you want more, add more, if…
  • It really depends. Even if it's a new exercise - if it works the same muscles as the old exercise you may not notice a lot of soreness. It can also depend on what you ate, how much water you drank, how well you warmed up, cooled down, stretched. And time. If I up my weight for lifts, sometimes the doms won't show up until…
  • While not hurting yourself is a good goal, for the bench press can you get someone to spot you while you work your way up? I just started NROL4W on Monday... I haven't lifted in 16 years (half my life) but lifted as a teen when I was a competitive synchro swimmer still trying to find how much I can lift for each set. And I…
  • I use MyCookbook app. I'm on android though. It doesn't exist for iPhone and you didn't specify OS. http://mycookbook-android.com/site/ Play store link is at bottom of page.
  • I taught both kids and adults for years as s lifeguard and I'm a certified synchronised synchro coach - so my vote goes for lessons. Private or group, either one will be effective with a good instructor. Also add others have said - slow down and build how comfortable you are. Speed will come once the technique and form…
  • I once sprained my ankle so badly the doctor couldn't believe it wasn't broken. I asked a friend with a nursing background how long the damn thing took to heal after about 5 weeks of utter frustration - and knowing my stubbornness far too well he told me "if you don't stay off of it? Forever!" He then proceeded to roll his…
  • I also use the zombies run c25k (and the full zombies run for when I'm done the c25k). It is not visual (well not until after you sync it to the website). It integrated with certain (not all and no streaming) music programs so you set up a music list and it will cut in with both story and instructions as you go -overlaying…
  • Ditto on what others are saying. C25k program's are great to start with. And I'd leave of the sprints until you are a bit more conditioned to the walk/jog intervals. I use the zombies run c25k which is a bit modified from the normal c25k... and has a slightly morbid sense of humour. One other thing I'd suggest is when you…
  • You can do body weight strength training... And then you don't even need the novels, groceries or resistance bands. There are numerous books, YouTube videos and websites devoted to "body weight workouts" that will still give to full body strength training without a gym or weights or expense.
  • My Foods -> Create new food This will let you create a food item with the nutritional info yourself rather than a recipe. Edit: phone autocorrect *sigh*
  • Fitness - I want to make certain health issues either 1) disappear or 2) Easier to manage. Once that goal is met... then we may talk about fashion as a second goal. :)
  • I always ask for a to go container immediately when I order to be brought with the food. I pack up half (or whatever is over a pepper serving size) and then eat what remains.
  • Costco as mentioned earlier is usually your best bet for cheap. $10-15 per large bag last time I bought it a few years ago. Quinoa goes a long way. I live in sask though and we have a local farm that grows it outside watrous. I prefer to buy from then instead so my prices may be wildly out of date.
  • Buffalo chicken Quinoa ("mac") and cheese has become a new comfort food. http://iowagirleats.com/2012/03/07/buffalo-chicken-quinoa-mac-and-cheese/ Substitutions are fairly easy - and I've been known to add broccoli straight into the casserole rather than on the side. _____ Quinoa Veggie Mini Lasagnas Take any veggie…
  • If the chatter during the workout annoys you... Turn it off. My 30day DVD has the option to remove Jillian's dialogue entirely and just hear the music. From the main menu choose "audio options" and then "begin workout with music only".
  • 34G and also use the shock absorber line. I have two different styles. I get so sick of North American stores and manufacturers telling me that I'm a "custom" size (not plus size because of the 34 and not regular size because of the G) - shock absorbers have the widest assortment of sizes I've seen in a line and absolutely…
  • It really depends on you (that sounds snarkier than intended... Sorry). You have a bike... Do you use it? I have no problem working out at home (and I hate gyms... I'd rather do run outside or just do a quick workout without other people's energy in my space), but I don't have kids, the cats have learned that workout time…
  • First off: deep breath. Second: going over your calorie count for one day is not going to completely mess you up. I've gone over by 500-600 before. In also set to 1400 at the moment. You can do a couple of things. Option one: log it and move on. Make better choices moving forward and relax. Like I said one day of 500 extra…
  • I've been very focused on specific areas changing. One area I forgot about was my shoulders. I used to be a synchro swimmer and lifeguard before I went to university for comp sci and got lazy beyond belief. So it never actually occurred to me that I'd lost the definition in my shoulders. Now every time I walk past my…
  • Keep up the good work OP and absolutely ignore them. I'm lucky in that I have very supportive friends and family. With a diabetic mother and a history of assisted health problems in my family I thankfully don't have this problem. We've always measured food and no one questions me when I do it.
