  • I've exercised most of my life including weights, but I've never had this happen before. Am I just getting older (I guess I can deal with that) or is the running is too hard on my body?
  • When you walk try concentrating on landing on your toes instead of your heels. Takes a while to get used to, but it works.
  • A few weeks ago Lina ('s husband) mentioned getting varicose veins from running. I had never heard of that before and studying online says that only running on hard surfaces would affect them. I run on dirt. BUT since reading her posts I've been watching my legs closely. I've only been running for a few months and I think…
  • Um, just to clarify..in case it is needed..the run wasn't up a 1000 foot mountain, it was at a higher altitude than I trained at. I reread my post and thought it might not be clear.
  • I ran my 5k today. I think my time is respectable considering I've only been running for 2 months and I went up 1000 feet in altitude. My time was 36:18 (a little slower than I normally run). My lungs hurt some, but I think it was the humidity more than the altitude. I live where it is nice and dry.
  • Hey Ali! Glad your back, we missed you!

  • I post so darn late I'm not sure if anyone ever sees my posts. LOL! I'll write it anyway... I haven't ran in a few days. Things just didn't work out so that I could. Today I couldn't run my normal route and the school track was being used, so my sister and I sprinted up a hill and jogged down. Up and down, up and down for…
  • Hey there! Glad to have you here!

  • I've heard a lot about bio-oil on this site. You might want to search out some posts on it.
  • 15.78% since January!
  • I think it looks great! The cut really frames your face. :flowerforyou:
  • I'm so impressed! I'm running my first 5k next weekend and will be thrilled to do it in 38 minutes! I guess my run is a bit farther 3.35, but still 24 minutes is awesome!
  • I agree with the previous post. My sister in law had this surgery and is now dependent on vitamin injections because her body can no longer process them on her own. Seven years later...she has gained all the weight back plus some. There are almost always underlying issues for weight gain (or loss for that matter). Those…
  • Why be miserable today in hopes of overeating and being miserable tomorrow? Fasting for one day isn't going to hurt you, but overeating for one day isn't going to hurt you either. Why not eat healthy today, enjoy tomorrow, and get right back on track the next day?
  • Nice to have you back, Sarge...
  • I only ran a mile and a half today. A bit disappointed in myself. I ran it at 5.2 mph though. Pretty good for me. The air is hot and humid tonight and I had a hard time breathing.
  • no one wants to wake up to go tinkle!
  • check out FRS.com I've tried it and it helps, but I'm not much of a supplement taker. My sister swears by it. I only take it before big runs, but she takes it everyday just to get through the afternoon lull.
  • 20 minutes is a huge accomplishment! Congrats- Everyday you'll go a bit farther! Not sure if I'm going to get a run in today, but I walked for an hour with the kidos. Tomorrow I'm going to Knock some more time off.
  • It fabulous to be "overweight"! Only a few more pounds and you can be "healthy"!
  • I got in my 3.35 today. I also cut off 1minute 10 seconds off my overall time. Would it be bad if I tried to cut off a minute or 30 seconds everyday? I only have about 10 days of training before my race and I really want to be able to run it in less than 38 minutes. Today I ran it in 40 minutes 50 seconds. Am I even being…
  • I also joined in December but wasn't committed until January. I started at 189 and am currently (at least last weigh in day) 165. So that is a total of 24 lbs. I'm glad this post was started. It is nice to know that I'm pretty on target with others. I was getting discouraged hearing lots of people had lost more. I still…
  • SO TRUE! SO TRUE!
  • Thanks for doing something that makes a difference. It is easy to say "oh I'm so sorry for those people," it is much harder to get up and do something at 4 am.
  • Hi All! It sounds like there were some great runs today. Great Job! I had an involuntary rest day. More rain which we need badly. Hoping to shave a minute or two off my time tomorrow. Have a great weekend all!:glasses:
  • I got in a 3.5 mile run! Yahoo! And my stupid (J/K) sister, who I am constantly trying to show up, kept up with me the whole time. She even ripped her toenail off yesterday and still didn't whine as much as I did! BTW anyone hear of FRS energy stuff? My sister wants me to try it.
  • On my way out the door now. If the weather holds I hope to go 3 miles again, but my sister is coming with me to night. She hasn't run all week and doesn't know I plan to push the whole loop. The farthest we ran together was 2.25. Hoping to get another mile out of her. Wish me luck!
  • Congrats! 180 was so hard for me to get under! I was so excited to get to 179 I bought a new pair of pants! Now if I could get under 160...
  • Congrats! I know how hard you are working, It will pay off!
  • I'll be running one on the 25 of this month. My sister talked me into it. That's why I started training in the first place. Now even though I'm not sure I love running, I do love the feeling of accomplishment afterwards. I'm thinking I'll try a 10k next summer! I'm so glad she got me to do this!
