My weigh-in this morning showed our 5 day trip had me gain 2.4 pounds which put me up .2 pounds from April 1st to the 8th. Not a problem. I expect to lose it in short order and then continue the quest for a thinner me.

We returned home this evening from our trip to the Masters. We stayed at a rental home on Lake Murray near Columbia, SC. The trip home was 765 miles and took us 12 hours and 15 minutes. I just took a look at my net calories for the 5 day trip and I kept them under 2000/day. Tomorrow morning I hope the scale isn't too…

Sorry for the silence; but, we spent Friday, the 3rd, turning an 8 hour drive into a 12 hour drive as traffic and rain were both horrible. We drove 520 miles with 519 on the interstates with speed limits the entire way of 70 mph. We were stopped dead a shade over 30 minutes. For the remaining 11 1/2 hours we averaged 49…

We're about to leave on a 5 day trip to watch Monday's practice round of The Masters golf tournament. The trip will include 12 hours of driving there and 12 hours driving back home. I wonder how this will go with the delicious trail mix we make for trips like this as well as 5 days of eating in restaurants. I doubt I'll…

I am on an insulin pump so what I am writing needs to be taken with a grain of salt. My A1C labs for the past 7 years have all been in the 6.5 - 7.3 range (only 3 labs at 7.0 & above). I have, for all these years used approximately 90 units/day of Humolog. Since starting here at MFP on 12/27/14, I have done regular…

I've never tried that strategy. Probably shouldn't start now. :)

I'm also an ADD person and most any exercise in a gym setting would drive me crazy from the boredom. However, I have a recumbent exercise cycle in our spare bedroom and make sure I get on it when there is a TV show on I want to watch. It really does work for me. 30, 45 and even 60 minutes can fly by.

49? Close enough for certain. Please don't starve yourself or you will hate this journey. I have found that my daily calorie consumption varies quite a bit (1200 - 2300). When it goes up I try to do enough cardio to burn off the extra calories. On days like today where I ate less than 1350 calories I still do some cardio.…

If it were easy, none of us would need MFP and the support we find here. Congrats on the 13 lost so far. More will come off in due time. The only thing you need to do is stay committed. That is a personal choice that nobody else can make you discard. Good luck on your journey.

Age is just a number. Please remember my favorite quote regarding age: It's never too late to have a happy childhood! I've been enjoying mine for 69 years now.

When my sugars get down below 60 I get the shakes very badly. If they get up around 280, I can fall asleep within 5 seconds of sitting down.

Hi. My name is Don. I'm glad to have found this group. I was diagnosed T2 in November, 1994 at age 49. Like a lot of people, I took oral meds (Glucophage and Glyburide) but didn't give my condition its due. My A1c readings were consistently in the 8.0 - 8.6 range for years and years. I was, somewhere along the way, put on…

I've never frozen grapes. In my house, they don't have a life expectancy long enough to warrant freezing. BTW, aren't the little buggers difficult to chew when frozen? lol!

I have a relationship with God and Jesus Christ. I have the unconditional love of the most wonderful & caring woman I have ever met. I have a small circle of true friends rather than a large group of acquaintances. I am retired. I am the healthiest cancer surviving, insulin dependent, 4 way by-pass recipient with chronic…

There is always 2 ways to say something. When you have a date with someone who is flat out ugly you could say "You're so ugly your face could stop a clock." Or, you could say, "When I look into your eyes, time stands still." Lab dude just chose the wrong way to convey his message because he is socially awkward, as are many…

My best suggestion, if you like them, is depend upon white seedless grapes for your evening snacks. 10 oz. of grapes is about 140 calories. To me, that's a pretty hefty snack. I just find grapes to be filling. Additionally, there isn't anything bad in what you're eating. Of course, if you feel about grapes as I feel about…

I also joined the following group. http://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/10097073/march-2015-weight-loss-challenge#latest Obviously, it starts a new group each month. Like this group, there is support there. However, that group is really more just posting your goal for the month and then checking in on a weekly…

Thanks for the kudos; but.................. I just had a really rude awakening. As I mentioned to my wife just a little while ago, suicide by drowning might be in my future. OMG!!! My Medicare advantage plan offers a free "Silver Sneakers" membership. In my case, the closest facility to use it at is about 10 miles away. I…

I forgot to mention a wonderful success this past week. I had to buy a belt the next size smaller. When I started this journey on 12/27/14, I was having an argument with my slacks (38" waist) as to how much they really wanted to stretch for me to continue wearing them before moving to a 40" waist. Well, during this journey…

Welcome, Luvstogolf. I just had to say a personal "hi" as my screen name on the only other forum I frequent is Golfnut. I only wish I were in the land of year around golf as you are. Unfortunately, our golf in my part of Illinois ends in early November and doesn't start up again until early April. This year, I expect my…

Welcome, Anne, from another one who is new to these forums. I've already discovered in a very short time there is a lot of support here.

I wouldn't attack the cupcakes; but, I doubt the frosting would have made it from the bowl to the cupcakes without my total intervention. I LOVE frosting!!!!! You have excellent will power.

I celebrated the 190 lb. goal just a little too much. Oops, I went backwards to 191.2; but, that will come back off in relative short order. What I did was turn my back on an evening snack of white seedless grapes that I happen to love in favor of an Orville Redenbacher Popcorn Bowl - and OMG, I ate the whole thing. That,…

When I started this quest on 12/27/14, my ultimate goal was to go from 217 lbs. to 190 lbs. by April 1st. Yippee!!!! I got there this morning - 2 weeks ahead of schedule. I am now destined for 180 lbs. by May 1st. It's always a good thing to set new goals.
