That's the best way to increase your distance. Jeff Galloway is a big advocate of this.

I'm the average weight for a UK adult but I'm not fat.

Good for you. I wish I had the willpower. Don't understand people who have a problem with teetotallers, maybe it's the same as ordering a salad when out with friends and they say "go on have a burger" because they feel guilty about their choices.

I do. Lost 110 lbs that way. Have been maintaining successfully for last 5 months eating exactly what I want within calories. To stick to your budget though you will find healthier choices creeping in anyway otherwise you will be hungry and lack energy.

Only 8.5-9 mph. Since when was that slow? 9 mph will see you complete a 5K in less than 21 minutes.

I hate that I sweat so much.

I lost 90 lbs on weight watchers. It definitely works, but only because it's basically calorie counting in disguise and everyone knows that works. If you criticise weight watchers you are criticising MFP in my mind.

A bit cheesy, but Eye of the Tiger always makes me speed up.

It's 5 stone 10 lbs. It's going to look unhealthy!

22:36. It hurt!

I'm 42 and only started running 9 months ago, previous to that it was PE in High School. I'm also not genetically gifted so for me it is a huge deal.

I bought an Omron BF measurer recently. I'm not sure how accurate it is, but it reads around 14.5%. I lost the bulk of the weight on weight watchers, but I think that towards the end the calories were too low and I lost too much lean body mass which I'm trying to restore.

I haven't mentioned it before, but of course my weight has got to be a big factor. I am currently 166 lbs, but would like to be 161. That's a good weight at 6 ft for a runner right? I was 276 lbs 18 months ago!

Yes, Brueton Parkrun, Solihull is my local Parkrun.

I will do this. Just been looking at your training log. Very impressive half and full marathon times. Personally I'm too scared to run a marathon in case the years of bad living catch up with me. I know I cannot race a marathon, but I can race a 5K. In my local Parkrun I can place in my age group with sub 20 minute 5K,…

Would a good plan for now be to just concentrate on increasing mileage to around 60 and not worry too much about the pace? Would I see a lot of benefit from this?
-
PB is 22:36 about a month ago http://www.dailymile.com/people/GaryR9/entries/15140722 My training is pretty unstructured. I used to do most of my training on a treadmill, but just lately most of it outside and I can see from that calculator that the pace is too slow. Looks like I will need to set myself a plan. My ultimate…

15 minutes is not a realistic time for most people.

I know it's irrational. I'm not trying to say you shouldn't do it, I admire anyone who does.

I was considering trying a full when that poor woman died in the London 2012 marathon. Now I'm too scared.

Which one is harder. Running or cycling? Running is for sure and therefore burns the most calories in my experience. Nothing made me drop weight better than running.

Wow, just wow. Go back to polishing your halo.
