That is one of the best pieces of advice I have read on these boards. Lots of good advice mentioned already OP. I just wanted to share the first couple of weeks as I was practicing accurate logging and sticking to the calorie goal MFP set for me it was terribly upsetting to me. I had my goal set at .5 loss per week and…

I didn't have a excuse per se, because I didn't think I was doing anything wrong or feel bad about doing it. My reason was that I was already fat so what'd it matter if I got a little fatter. That and I still felt the way I looked 10 (then 20, 30... 100 lbs ago) so why bother losing weight?!? I already felt good about…

no OP hasn't answered yet

Of course! I'm sure a lot of women can eat 2000 calories a day and lose fat. I pretty easily lose around .5- 1lb a week eating an average of 2000 calories a day, possibly more if I am more active.

From looking at your diary you are not weighing everything on a food scale, ergo your calories counts are quite possibly off enough to be your problem. For more feedback we probably need to know exactly how long you have been eating 1200 calories a day, how long you have been exercising as stated and if you ever go over or…

Yes your are supposed to eat back your exercise calories, but if you are currently eating 1200 calories a day and not losing weight, eating MORE is not going to make you lose weight. Something is very very wrong. Either you have not been doing this long enough to have seen the scales move yet, you are logging your food…

Yeah, so OP ain't running any marathons. At least not today. Not wanting your partner to do something that you perceive as harmful is way different than scarfing down a bag of chips in front of their face. I'm not saying to be to extreme, but how freaking hard is it to hide chips if you ask your partner to hide chips?!? To…

also others who exercise more than I do can chime in, but an 800-900 calorie burn at the gym sounds high. What are you doing at the gym and how long are you doing it for?

I visualize... the doughnut. And then wonder why I would get a doughnut because I don't even like doughnuts. Then might I pull out my car-snacks and eat some of those. Never leave the house without car-snacks. I eat random things I don't even want or really like when I am out and about and get unexpectedly hungry or…

I know you'd think that right?!? I am not a huge mac and cheese fan at a lot of restaurants to begin with so maybe that was my problem, but to me the mac and cheese balls were even MORE underwhelming than the fried bologna sandwich! What's up with that?!? Their fried pickles however IIRC were awesome. If I have tried the…

If you don't eat up to your calorie goal on those days you are not hungry, do you later suffer the ill-effects people are describing here? You seem to be quite near your goal weight from your ticker. Seems that if your goals now are mainly fitness and body composition related I'd say do whatever lets you meet your fitness…

yes, when a restaurant deep fries its mac and cheese and twinkies you know it's srs business! Most of the stuff there is actually quite tasty but some things (like the fried bologna sandwich) are a little underwhelming. It wasn't as delicious as I thought it would be. Definitely not the best place for a vegetarian! Thanks…

you think all of that would still clock in under 3k?
-
LOL I am guessing some of those single items are 1000k+ each. I'm not sure but guessing the fried bologna sandwich and 1 fried twinkie would top you out over 3k I tried looking up other restaurants half rack bbq ribs and saw values anywhere from 500-1000. If the half rack of ribs is 1000k alone...

and this is why I don't bother to go to regular doctors. What horrible advice (or rather, lack thereof). I'd want to know the reason for the suggestion on eating "low fat"? Does that mean avoid fried chicken or does that mean no steak, only skinless chicken breast and fish. I like a rotation of steak, pork, fish, chicken…

Well, you can find a calorie deficit that you will actually stick to and lose the weight over time even if some weeks you only lose .5 lb or nothing, or you can try to stick to something that is not feasible for you and probably keep on giving up because it is too hard. Why don't you try setting MFP to .5 loss per week…
-
Going over by 60 calories is not going to make you lose .5 per week less. I think you are being too technical about it and not developing the kind of thinking that is going to make you able to incorporate the changes you need into the long term. But if you are ok with the 1.5 and just want to try a little trick with the…

I too would like to know what qualifies as "fast". If you only have 28 lbs to lose total (as in you are only 28 pounds over your ideal weight) then anything that you would likely consider "fast" is going to be harmful to your health. If you are morbidly or severely obese you can do it faster. So the fastest way I'd say is…

there is no reason why food cannot continue to give you pleasure while losing weight, you just have to figure out how that happens for you personally.
-
these are all great and so many I can relate to! I think we are all working on good reasons to want to change, and to do it for ourselves, but it's nice to see other people have some not-so-reasonable motivators as well. Whatever keeps you going, sometimes the rational good-thinking reasons might not cut it and being less…

I don't think honeycrisp apples existed when we were kids (at least not very young kids), I think they are newer than that, but I agree they are super yummy! My favorite I think is the tiny clementines, we never got those when I was a kid I am sure because they were too expensive.

2 eggs is what- 190 calories if you get the biggest egg you can find? My turkey bacon is 25 calories a slice. 29 grams froot loops are 110 calories, 1/2 cup skim milk 50 cals, 1 tbsp whipped cream cheese is 34 cals, slice of bread what- 45 cals for smallish "diet" type bread (not sure on this one I don't each much bread)?…

Wow your husband must be some kind of saint, reading that made ME want to punch that guy. Your poor sister! I hope to goshes he doesn't do that to her, because to me that would border on mental abuse. I'd have a really hard time trying to believe he is not aware of it at all. But some people are just the types to stir…

amazing! you must be so proud of yourself- excellent work!

+1 I eat a rotation of steak, chicken breast, fish and pork for meats always with a huge pile of veg typically roasted with EVOO. I am not having issues with hunger, but if I am going to have a beer it's going to be in addition to the 1400 calories of food I am going to eat. Much under 1400 of food and unless I am having a…

I have some frozen options in the freezer too. They are things I have always eaten and will continue to always eat. My favorite is Boston Market Turkey Medallions. It's a bigger meal at 13 ounces but it only had 240 calories. Banquet also has a Turkey meal I think its got about 230 calories in it as well and it typically…

This is so true! I find that information is invaluable as each person is so different! And OP I LOVE your post!!

Please ignore the ridiculous sales-pitch spammy reply! I don't know about the changes to how Bfing is shown but hopefully someone with something actually helpful and not just a spammy sales pitch will reply to your question ETA: I just had a thought, if BFing is treated the way exercise is it doesn't "subtract" it from…

LOL!! It's so hard to see it ourselves sometimes since it comes on so much more gradual to us cause we see ourselves all the time. Glad you felt encouraged, and I'd bet quite a bit that others have noticed too but feel scared to say anything lest they risk being "impolite". I'm still scared of the first time someone asks…
