Congrats! I love reading success stories and can't wait to post one :)

It is so hard to say...my guess is moderate because even if you run those 3.5 miles fast it's vigorous. It also makes a big difference whether you sit at a desk M-F like I do. That takes your burn way down. But if you chase kids all day your burn goes up! I think the scooby calculator is the closest to my bodymediafit…

Well I have to admit I have done some pretty stupid low calorie diets over the years...grasping just to get to goal. It is staying at goal that I can't seem to manage. I really feel like EM2WL is the answer  'When you know better, you do better' Maya Angelou

Brave woman! wagering chocolate chips for a month LOL can't wait to hear their response... I would stay at the 15% cut with heavy lifting and that should leave you at the same weight just more defined... keep us posted!

I'm a little confused by all the numbers you threw out... So here is my answer based on the info you gave and what I understood: According to BodyMediaFit (BMF) your average daily burn is 2040. If you want to A) maintain your weight, or B) do a metabolism reset you should eat 2040 every day (or at least try to average out…

Tabinmaine...you're right, they will all be addicted! I wear mine in hot yoga and sweat with it, haven't noticed a problem...other than I don't burn enough in hot yoga:devil: I got mine on drugstore.com, after you google bodymediafit you'll notice banner ads for $ off coupons. It was like $115 with 3 months free…

All the online calculators told me my 15% CUT level was 2400-2500 calories. When i got my BMF, I realized that is what I am actually burning every day... So I feel like the fitbit or BMF (whichever you prefer) are very worth it! I work out very hard but I sit at a desk M-F for 8 to 10 hours. You will be surprised how much…

Burbanum, your story is very familiar to me. Eating too little training too much most of my adulthood :) but the training is part of my life! My friends and I do local sprint triathlons. So I started EM2WL 7 weeks ago while training for a tri. I totally increased my calories stopped doing so much swim bike run training and…

Steph and Scott, I will average as well. It will keep my calorie intake regular and my metabolism needs that! I'm going on my second week with BMF and I'm glad I got it! My numbers were way off using the other calculators!!

To be quite honest you will just need to try it and adjust it as it monitors you. I selected 'very active' and much of my exercise does not classify as 'vigorous'. My 60 min spin class this morning rated vigorous (above 6 mets) only after 15 minutes into it. My lift (stage 1 NRL4W-heavy weights) gets me up there to…

WOW, lyska, I totally feel your pain! I have been active and overweight my whole life, gradually eating less and training more for 20 years. I was on a VLC diet a couple years ago and I think I totally killed my metabolism. I'm so active, training for a tri, my weekly estimated exercise burn is 2800 calories on top of my…

Age: 45 Height: 66" Weight: 178ish TDEE at Very active: 2897 (training for tri) 15% cut: (435) = 2462 BMR: 1533 Eat: 1800-2600 I have been upping calories incorrectly for 1 month trying to net 1800. Just realized that I need to average my exercise for the week then eat consistently...I was calculating daily based on my…

I just started this week. Was pretty aggressive my first day and have been so sore, so I backed of just a bit the second workout day :) My goal is to be spent on my last rep... Workout A Squat 45lbs Seated Row 70 lbs Step-ups 30 lbs(15 in each hand) Workout B Dead lift tried 80 then 70 had to go down to 60lb Dumbbell…

Such an inspiration! Thanks for the post...I needed to read it today :)

I am in a similar boat, I upped my calories a month ago and am just being patient. At least you are seeing inches drop! I have to think that means your BF% is going down too. There are tons of discussions on here about being patient while your body drops fat and builds muscle. Like gemiwing I don't feel qualified to give…

BRAVO! I trust...I believe. I am just at my first week of upping my calories to 1800-1900. I am being patient. Thanks for the motivation!

Go to tools on MFP you can figure out your Basil Metabolic Rate. Go to: http://www.fitnessfrog.com/calculators/tdee-calculator.html to figure out your Total Daily Energy Expenditure. Stay between the two numbers.

Very helpful, thanks all!

This is a keeper! Thank you for posting

I have read that eating breakfast to start your metabolism is a myth. There is an 18 page string on here that posts research supporting it. So if you don't like breakfast DON'T eat it. If you do, eat it.

I would say ride the wave while it lasts! You could add in a few more healthful calorie dense snacks like almonds but as everyone else has stated it will slow down as soon as you body acclimates itself to your allotted calories. In the mean time, Enjoy! Bravo on the progress.

I would Run, Bike, Swim... do whatever exercise you love to make up some of those calories. It's a good lesson :) Checking before you make choices is always helpful but not always realistic. Recovery strategies are necessary :)

Great advice from everyone! Stay hydrated, gain muscle while you are loosing fat and do it slowly so your skin can respond. Your age and the amount of weight you want to loose will be a big determinant. Others may be able to tell you their experience if you want to share those details.

I really like the simple timing of when to eat! Not sure I agree with all the what to eat... but we all have different goals :) Thanks for the link!!

This link is a nice building running plan. I wish it mentioned a 5 minute walk to warm up then stretch before beginning each session, as well as a nice stretch after. Stretching is the only thing that keeps me injury free while running. Thanks for the post!
