  • I'm only day 7 on keto diet but have excluded all alcohol. Beer is my fav but there are 12+ carbs in one right? I miss it
  • My store has a section where you go scoop up as much as you want of stuff and pay by the pound or ounce. I'm 95% sure almond flour is there. Definitely gonna buy no more than a couple cups today. Not gonna get the already packaged one, I saw it was for like 8 bucks or something O.O But yeah, scoops are awesome cause you…
  • Oh gross! Lamb! Sorry that's my reaction to lamb. I'm gonna get a chuck roast today to put in my slow cooker. I've never made my own slow cooker dish this will be tasty :)
  • It looks like other people have mentioned buying online but I would really look into that, I bet even Amazon could get you some bulked foods at big discounts. I'm pretty sure you could find a lot of good deals if you snooped around for foods you are interested in buying
  • I have 3 out of 5 of those...coconut oil would be a 4th but I have a local store Organic refined brand of that. I've discovered kerrygold grass-fed butter, it's really good
  • I do agree with the lifting now part. I just don't think I will be lifting for a month or so while I cut cals. Partly due to this being my first go at keto and I want to give my body some time before I push it much. Also, I don't seem to be at much risk of losing muscle mass - at least according to stuff I've read. That's…
  • Ok I get the feeling low and being ravenous at night, adding to this are some intense carb fantasies. I go the whole day being cool without carbs, I might feel slightly weird from time to time and get pretty hungry out of nowhere before I eat my lunch...but overall it's ok until night. A couple nights ago I was super hyper…
  • How much protein is too much? Too much can affect glucose?
  • What does IR mean? Also, this is precisely the reason why I began this diet this week as I don't need to lose more than about 5 pounds. Hoping it comes soon...
  • "You can get fat adapted thru consistent exercise while fasted. It is a bit challenging but you rip the body fat off. You literally burn it off as you exercise." Are you saying you can get fully keto adapted faster with exercise?
  • Goat I saw you mention eating Greek yogurt on a separate thread (unless that was someone else?): how are you eating Greek yogurt and not consuming carbs? I am not eating it specifically because it and dairy milk have too many carbs, I'd only have 8 or 10 carbs left for the day not including fiber if I had just one serving…
  • Ok good to know. Usually when I drink a lot of water and cut out processed carbs my skin clears up so that's what I was thinking. My cycle actually seems late...I don't record the dates so not sure exactly but I was expecting it a week or so ago. Kinda think the acne could have to do with that as well, I often get more…
  • Ok, another one I forgot: I anticipated my skin clearing up even in the first few days, but indeed I've gotten at least a couple new zits. Is this from female hormones or are my hormones possibly just in crazy places right now from the new diet? If so then why aren't I more emotionally unstable?
  • More questions: -I've read that the state of ketosis can be induced in 2-3 days or can take up to 8 weeks to be fully keto-adapted...why such a big difference? Can you be in ketosis without being "fully keto-adapted?" -Do I need to continue mass consumption of electrolytes (e.g. chicken broth, powerade zero etc.) the…
  • Eating more carbs as opposed to less when your body has problems processing glucose makes no sense. Even doctors can't connect the dots. No wonder all these stupid people on main MFP forums can't believe it either.
  • I thought too much protein was a possible cause of kidney stones? Not sure if that was mentioned
  • It's already a little more tolerable after drinking it for a bit
  • Put half a packet of "truvia" stevia in my bulletproof coffee and it makes it taste like poopy crap. The aftertaste is so nasty. Anyone just get used to that over time? I'm going to drink it slowly so I don't throw up or get a stomachache hopefully
  • Ah, ok. Yeah I am not working out right now. I will soon, thinking I will just have a few more berries or something like that before the workout instead of processed stuff though. Buuuut I think my plan is to return to more intense weight lifting in a month or two and at that point may do some carb loading around the…
  • I also thought porridge was something more like cream of wheat. Surprised to find its just plain ole oatmeal. I've always found cereals in general, I think even if I've had some protein with them, to leave me pretty drained. Cold cereals are just snacks for me that I eat mindlessly, if I ate them for breakfast as a kid I…
  • Avoiding dextrose because that is the fastest carb to reach your bloodstream or something like that (it's the sugar recommended for weight lifting and first thing in the morning if you're weight lifting etc) and I'm trying to get into keto. I did see it in electrolyte stuff as well - I was able to find alternatives that…
  • I think even when we ate vegetation that we probably at least ate bugs or something moving with protein. New question: Quest bars. I'm craving something sweet. Should I risk all the sugar alcohols and questionable fiber source to have something sweet if I've gotta have something?
  • Well, good news I suppose since I'm not planning to consume much sucralose. Just wanted to say that today was Day 1 of my keto experience - Bulletproof coffee & lots of water in the morning, a mostly ground beef chili for lunch, tuna salad with greens for dinner, cream cheese & egg "pancakes" w/a few strawberries & half a…
  • Karlotta was that because of the number of calories in the Splenda syrup? Not sure what else would have made you gain. Anyone get bad moods and/or depression after switching to a keto regimen? I was reading that people with pre-existing depression issues have a hard time with such low carb intake. But I assume after…
  • More questions...I remember reading about coffee affecting blood sugar. Do all of you doing keto still drink coffee? Has it affected your keto status? How long did it take you to stop missing or craving bread, grains, sweets?
  • I grew up mostly in East TX and now thankfully live in Austin TX. Texas being in the USA. Famous for George W Bush, Dallas Cowboys, insane patriotism, meat, & lots of other stuff probably. It also sets standards for the rest of the U.S. with a lot of things since it's so huge with so many resources.
  • Ok so all carbs except fiber affect blood sugar/glucose, it's just that some carbs like those in cane sugar spike it way up more than others? Although I have no blood sugar problems, one of the appealing things about keto is getting all the insulin spiking junk out of my diet because I know that just makes me crave more…
  • Gotcha. Goat: How do you get enough micronutrients if you don't eat grass-fed animal products or veggies? I know you don't supplement but I think I'm going to get a good solid multi. Plus other stuff I like as well like fish oil. Think I will have a bit of lettuce and spinach, a small handful of berries here and there and…
  • I drink both. Unsweetened soy when I want fewer carbs and milk when I want a milk protein with more carbs. They digest at different rates. Probably not important for most people though
  • The under 18% part mainly
