  • Welcome! This a great site--lots of really good info.

  • Because as you might imagine, I'm pretty excited about my new hair color. No, I'm with you--I probably wouldn't post a profile pic of my face. I prefer to try to keep some semblance of privacy and anonymity so I can reply to sensitive subjects--just in case. But I also understand why someone might do the opposite--I think…
  • Yes. Your choices are mostly good--try to get rid of processed stuff and eat more lean proteins.
  • This is why I don't work out at the gym. Too many testosterone-fueled bullies. I had a similar thing happen. I had been waiting to do some bench presses. It's an exercise for big, strong men not small, weak women. But f* that--I was going to do 'em. Apparently this big, sweaty, greasy, bald, nasty-*kitten* mf had been…
  • Really good question. It seems like if your activity level is sedentary you should definitely log that kind of thing (and walking and carrying golf bags for 3 hours seems like it would burn some serious calories). If your activity level is set to active, then probably not. I think it's similar to whether you would log…
  • Oh yeah! Great job. I see it!!
  • Ha!! I'm hoping it's one of the slackers who had nothing better to say. Yeah, good luck with that. Thanks all for support--I really appreciate it!! And I'm feeling re-empowered. :flowerforyou: That's why this site is so awesome.
  • Yep. Or go to hour-long kickboxing class.
  • Quality. If someone has a lot of weight to lose the emphasis is probably initially more on quantity. Fortunately, I didn't have much weight to lose and thus it didn't take me long to realize I'm much more interested in losing body fat and looking leaner.
  • Agree with what others have said--you may need to eat more as well as change your exercise routine. Your diet looks pretty good. Another suggestion--try eating smaller meals more frequently throughout the day. I get hungry all the time too and part of what has helped is eating a small meal every 2-3 hours. I track by…
  • Did you just start? In the past month or two? I felt the same way for awhile, meaning my arms seemed to be getting bigger, which is NOT what I was not looking for at all. Stick with it, be strict about diet, and you'll lose the fat over the muscles that are now becoming more pronounced.
  • I know what you mean about having a hard time hitting 30%. I'm usually pretty close but it's difficult. I aim to include some protein in every meal/snack as well as plan my meals around the protein I plan to eat to make it happen. Making your own protein shakes isn't actually that expensive unless you're using expensive…
  • Yes, all runners have good and bad days. You could also just be tired/worn out if you did a rigorous weight lifting routine the day before. I'm not familiar with the program you're doing but be sure to give your body time to recover. I've noticed my best runs are often when I haven't been out for a few days.
  • You asked so I'm just going to be honest--your diet needs work. Too many fried and processed foods like the pizza and the cheese fries. Eat more lean proteins and veggies. Your protein shakes look great.
  • Just start lifting weights to get more toned and lean. You don't need to lose any weight.
  • Add in some nuts and avocado and you won't have to worry about being under on calories. 150 calories for breakfast and 150 for lunch? Seriously? What are you eating? Are you eating? Or are you just drinking slimfast? Because that might actually make sense. We can't see your diary so can't know for sure. Sorry--I know I…
  • Amazing! Keep up the good work!!
  • Mountain climbers are no substitute for the jackknife. Yeah, leave the ball at home and do 'em later. And that prone jackknife exercise BTW is phenomenal. I do a couple of sets at home every day whether I lift or not! That exercise is what's going to get rid of my belly I'll tell you what.
  • Booze. And pizza. In that order. I can resist ANYTHING else. Seriously.
  • Do you have Ross stores in Canada? You can get name brand clothes including workout attire for less than half price. I also recently bought some workout shorts and shirts on sale from Victoria's secret--I'm going to return them though since I found what I needed for substantially cheaper at Ross.
  • You can do it. You just took the first step. One step at a time.
  • I've already posted on this topic--but one more thing. You don't have to work this out with your in-laws. This is not their deal; it's between you and your husband. But you do have to work it out with him. If he's hinting that he wants kids, and you don't as in you're positive that you don't and you're not at all open to…
  • I'm also at the end of my reproductive years and chose not to have kids. Once you're in your 40s, people will stop asking you  When you're in your 20s and 30s, especially when you're married, they ask because having children is still the norm in our culture. I was married at 28 and for years I just acted like I was…
  • Yes! I have this!!! And it sucks!!!! Especially because I'm a runner. Ok--basically you don't want to do any type of exercise that puts pressure or weight on the heel of the foot affected. My doc told me: no running, no climbing, no elliptical (especially at an incline), no weight lifting exercises that put pressure on the…
  • Way too many carbs--not enough protein.
  • ^^^^^This. I used to eat sushi all the time. I thought it was healthy as long as you steer clear of the fried stuff or the rolls with cream cheese (yuck!!) or mayonaise-based sauces. But holy cow!! All that rice is just loaded with carbs (duh!--should have known!) I still eat it but I try to order more sashimi. Sashimi is…
  • 1) I hate wearing shoes and/or socks--even in the winter. 2) I was born in the second largest state (TX), and I now live/work in the second smallest state (DE). 3) My husband and I have lived in different states for over half our 13 year marriage because of work-related issues. I'm an academic and he's a researcher so…
  • Thank God! I was getting a little worried there for a moment. There are a few reasons why your 40yo ex-husband is dating/marrying a 23yo and we all know what they are. It's called a midlife crisis. Grow up, dude.
